MoS Margherita 'impressed' by Ramayana mural in Royal Palace of Cambodia
Margherita said he was pleased that the ASI will be taking up the restoration and conservation works of these magnificent murals.

Deeply impressed by the magnificent mural painting depicting the Ramayana, a powerful reminder of the enduring cultural and historical ties between India and Cambodia. As per a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, India's excellent, close relations with Cambodia are underpinned by shared civilizational heritage and a robust, people-centric development partnership.
The visit would further bolster our bilateral ties and provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on advancing initiatives and issues of mutual interest in diverse sectors. MOS (PM) would be calling on the senior leadership of Cambodia, and would interact with ITEC/ ICCR Alumni, as well as members of the Indian community, as per a statement by the MEA.
He would also review the extensive restoration and conservation work carried out by India at World Heritage Sites in Cambodia, which are also symbols of our shared culture.
MoS (PM) will thereafter be visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 10-11 July 2025, at the invitation of the current ASEAN Chair, Malaysia. MoS (PM) will participate in the Foreign Ministers' Meetings under the ASEAN framework in the format of ASEAN-India, East Asia Summit (EAS) and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
India and ASEAN share cultural and civilizational bonds. ASEAN is the cornerstone of India's Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific vision. The visit will renew India's deep engagement with the ASEAN-centred regional architecture, underline our strong commitment to ASEAN unity, ASEAN centrality and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and strengthen the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as per MEA.
Margherita is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other countries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the margins of the ASEAN-related meetings, the statement said. (ANI)

Billionaire Uday Kotak calls for urgent support to help India withstand US tariff shock
Indian banking billionaire Uday Kotak has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to provide stronger budgetary support to small and medium-sized enterprises, warning that the country faces a 'major shock' from US tariffs. Kotak, founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank, India's third-largest private lender, told the Financial Times that the tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump had 'woken Indians up' to the vulnerabilities of the economy. 'We must think about this as an opportunity for us to get out of our cruise mindset and from a comfort mindset to 'we are at risk',' he recently imposed an additional 25 per cent levy on Indian imports, including discounted Russian oil, on top of existing 25 per cent 'reciprocal' tariffs. The US president has cited the oil imports as helping finance Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine. 'Once you give that capital support, private equity, entrepreneurs' equity [and] risk capital will come additionally,' he told FT. Kotak is not alone in urging government intervention. Earlier this month, Anand Mahindra, chair of the Mahindra Group, called for more liquidity for SMEs, infrastructure investment, and incentives for manufacturers. Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises, has also suggested that New Delhi create a fund to help exporters find new markets and attract manufacturers relocating from Minister Modi has pledged a series of tax and regulatory reforms aimed at boosting business, including cuts to the goods and services tax and a reduction in bureaucratic red tape. He stressed the importance of manufacturing and warned against relying solely on India's domestic market to avoid India's per capita GDP at $2,700, far below China's $13,300 and the US's nearly $89,000, he argued the country cannot afford to remain in a comfort zone. 'At the current 'cruise' level, we'll keep on improving our position, but is it fast enough for us to get past the middle-income trap? I think there's a gap,' Kotak said.

Delhi court staffer cleared in viral video case, inquiry cites lack of evidence
New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): A Delhi court staffer accused of appearing in a compromising video with a judge has been exonerated after an inquiry found no evidence of misconduct or immoral acts. A District Judge of Tis Hazari Court, who acted as the Inquiry Officer, submitted his report to the Principal District & Sessions Judge (HQs), Tis Hazari, holding that the department had 'failed to establish any article of charge" against the female official, identified as Ms A. 'The Department has failed to establish that the delinquent official committed any immoral act or entered into any sexual activity with her Presiding Officer or anyone else during office duty timings. No misconduct or immoral act subversive to discipline is established," the report stated. During the proceedings, Ms A was represented by Advocate Ashish Dixit, who appeared as her Defence Assistant. The inquiry report records that she was able to effectively contest the charges with his assistance. The report raised serious concerns about the authenticity of the video evidence. It noted discrepancies in the pen drives examined, with the one available on record differing in make, model and capacity from those referenced in the fact-finding report. It also highlighted that the expert who analysed the material was neither accredited under Section 79A of the IT Act nor certified in digital forensics. Even during cross-examination, the expert admitted he lacked the requisite qualifications. Several departmental witnesses admitted they had merely seen the alleged video on WhatsApp or social media and could not confirm whether it was genuine. None produced a copy of the clip during the inquiry. The inquiry stressed that imputations on a woman's character required heightened scrutiny, and vague testimonies could not justify disciplinary action. Even the department's main witness, the judge's orderly, conceded he had seen a clip online but was unsure of its authenticity. In light of these findings, the inquiry concluded that Ms. A was not guilty of any misconduct. She has been fully cleared of all charges, stated the report. (ANI)
