Off-duty officer stomped while helping apprehend chase suspect, channel 11 sources say
Dispatch audio recordings from Broadcastify have State Police troopers in pursuit of a white Dodge Charger on Route 51 heading towards Elizabeth.
While it's not yet clear what started the chase, Channel 11 learned it came to a crashing end near Elizabeth Forward High School. Neighbors said the suspect hit the concrete pillar at the end of a driveway, went through the yard before hitting the curb and attempting to run.
Sources told Channel 11 an off-duty Elizabeth Township officer who lives nearby ran to help, tackling the suspect before the responding state troopers arrived. Sources said that at some point, when troopers got on scene, the off-duty officer was stomped, causing significant injuries to his face.
Channel 11 was told the officer is not currently working while recovering at home. All state police troopers in Pennsylvania are required to wear body cameras.
We asked the agency about the situation, how the off-duty officer was injured and if there is an internal investigation.
'We can neither comment on, nor confirm the existence of, any ongoing investigations, internal or otherwise,' said Myles Snyder, PSP Communications Director.
Channel 11 did knock on the off-duty officer's door, his family said they can't comment, as did the Elizabeth Township Police Chief.

Greenville woman dead at the scene of Alexandria motorcycle crash
A 25-year-old Greenville woman died Friday evening when her motorcycle crashed on West Shore Road in Alexandria near the Bristol town line. Megan Bouchard was riding a red 2007 Ducati northbound around 5:39 p.m. when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and crashed, according to New Hampshire State Police. Bouchard was pronounced dead at the scene. The southbound lane of West Shore Road was closed during the investigation. Bristol Police Department, Bristol Fire Department and Alexandria Fire Department assisted state troopers. Preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, but the cause remains under investigation. MSP seeks Eaton County woman. Why police say she's endangered
ROXAND TWP. — Michigan State Police are asking for the public's helping in finding a 64-year-old Eaton County woman. Police believe Lisa Lynn Martin left her home in the 700 block of St. Joe Highway in Eaton County's Roxand Township about 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, according to a July 5 social media post. She is considered endangered because she's without necessary medication. Martin was last seen wearing a black T-shirt or blouse, dark-colored shorts, Skecher tennis shoes and eyeglasses, State Police said. Massachusetts State trooper hit and injured by moped driving through large crowd near Revere Beach
A moped driver from Everett was arrested late on July 4th in Revere, Massachusetts after police said he struck a state trooper who was trying to de-escalate an aggressive crowd. It happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday night, not too far from Revere Beach. Police said a large crowd setting off illegal fireworks grew larger and became aggressive. Revere officers and Massachusetts State troopers were then sent in to de-escalate the chaos. While this was happening, police said a moped drove through the crowd and struck a state trooper. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, 34-year-old Deshakraaun Abdullahmuhammud, was arrested at the scene. Massachusetts State Police This comes weeks after another state trooper was seriously injured when he was struck by a motorcyclist near Revere Beach. On June 23, police said 18-year-old Akram El Moukhtari was driving a stolen motorcycle when he crashed into Lieutenant Donald Bossi, who was standing near his cruiser on Revere Beach Boulevard. Bossi was taken to the hospital in critical condition. At El Moukhtari's arraignment, it was revealed that Bossi had surgery to put his pelvic bone back into place. He also has a broken nose and several cuts that needed stitches. On Saturday, State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble said Bossi remains in critical condition. El Moukhtari was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail and is due back in court on July 18.
