Modi government's tough stance on terrorism will shake Pakistan: Bandi Sanjay

The Hindu26-04-2025

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar stated that the Pahalgam incident represents the height of terrorist brutality and those who wield guns will eventually fall to them.
The Minister assured the people that the retaliation for the Pahalgam terror activity by the Narendra Modi government will shake Pakistan to its core and send a message of assurance to the country that government will not bow to terrorist activities. He sought nation's support to strengthen Mr Modi's hands in this regard.
Speaking at the 'Rozgar Mela' at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Centre in Hyderabad, he said Prime Minister Modi stood by his word, generating one million jobs. He handed over letters to about 700 people selected for various jobs. So far, 14 Rozgar Melas have been conducted, resulting in the filling of 925,000 jobs.
Mr.. Sanjay said that having secured a job through hard work and study, now it was their responsibility to perform duties with commitment and earn recognition. 'You know that PM Modi is determined to create job opportunities, which is why we were able to fill 1 million positions. This is a government that delivers on its promises.'
The Minister said that initiatives like Startup India, Stand-up India, and Make in India were encouraging youth to not only get jobs but also become job creators. During the pandemic, when countries like the U.S. faced economic crises, India remained stable because of the Atmanirbhar package, a feat credited to the Modi government, he asserted.
Mr. Sanjay also criticised the previous BRS government, accusing it of failing to fill jobs regularly. Paper leaks and delays caused injustice to unemployed youth. Even the current State government is plagued by corruption and irregularities, he alleged.

In letter to PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi flags hostel crisis, scholarship lapses for students from marginalised community

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging the "deplorable" conditions in residential hostels for Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority students and the delay in post-matric scholarships for those from marginalised communities. In his letter to Modi, Gandhi urged the PM to resolve these two critical issues which he said hinder education opportunities for the 90 per cent of students who are from marginalised communities. "Firstly, the conditions in residential hostels for students from Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority communities are deplorable. During a recent visit to Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga, Bihar, students complained about single rooms which 6-7 students were forced to share, unhygienic toilets, unsafe drinking water, lack of mess facilities, and no access to libraries or the internet," the Congress leader said. "Secondly, post-matric scholarships for students from marginalised communities are plagued by delays and failures," Gandhi said and cited the example of Bihar where he claimed the scholarship portal was non-functional for three years and no student received a scholarship in 2021-22. "Even thereafter, the number of Dalit students receiving scholarships fell by nearly half, from 1.36 lakh in FY23 to 0.69 lakh in FY24. Students further complain that the scholarship amounts are insultingly low," Gandhi said in his letter to Modi dated June 10. "While I have cited examples from Bihar, these failures are widespread across the country. I urge the government to immediately take two actions to remedy these failures," he said. Gandhi called for audit every hostel for students from Dalit, Scheduled Tribes (ST), Economically Backward Class (EBC), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and minority communities to ensure good infrastructure, sanitation, food and academic facilities; and allocate adequate funds to address deficiencies. He also appealed for disbursement of post-matric scholarships on time, increasing scholarship amounts, and improving execution by working closely with state governments. "I am sure you agree that India cannot progress unless youth from marginalised communities progress. I look forward to your positive response," Gandhi said in his letter to Modi.

The delegation demanded that the compensation of Rs. 1.30 lakh that has been announced for each family should be reviewed. The area had come under heavy shelling during the skirmishes between troops of India and Pakistan after India launched Operation Sindoor to dismantle suspected terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and mainland Pakistan. At least 20 border residents lost their lives while dozens were injured in the four-day aerial skirmishes between the armies of India and Pakistan last month. While speaking to reporters, Baby reiterated the demand for a special session of parliament to discuss the plight of border residents and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rhetoric cannot compensate what people in border areas such as Poonch, Kupwara and Baramulla have suffered, reported The Economic Times. 'The situation here is highly distressing. Devastation and destruction created due to shelling is huge. The government has promised Rs. 1.30 lakh compensation for each family but this is very less considering the situation on ground,' said Baby. He added that the Prime Minister is refusing to discuss the plight of people in border areas in a special session of parliament, despite the Opposition's calls for the same.
