When is 'Superman' streaming? Here's our best guess

"Superman," surely one of the most anticipated summer movies of 2025, has arrived.
As the first movie from James Gunn's DCU project, David Corenswet's Man of Steel has a lot of weight on his shoulders, but early signs suggest that critics and fans are on board with this more hopeful version of the Last Son of Krypton.
As of writing, the movie's landed an 82% critics score and a 95% from fans on the review aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes, with praise coming for the ensemble, the warm and fun feel, and a scene-stealing turn from Supes' four-legged friend, Krypto.
In her "Superman" review, TG's own Alix Blackburn called it "a caped comeback to celebrate," and a movie that feels both "fresh and faithful" to DC's iconic hero. And, having seen the movie myself, I'd agree: "Superman" is a strong statement of intent for the DCU. It's a charming popcorn blockbuster and a movie that I'm sure countless Superman fans will love (even if it is a tad messy and is maybe juggling one too many moving parts).
The movie takes us three years into this particular Superman's run, and sees him tangling with tech billionaire (and noted Superman hater) Lex Luthor (a brilliant Nicholas Hoult), who's determined to see the Man of Tomorrow gone for good.
It's definitely a movie that you should experience on the big screen, in my opinion, but if you'd prefer to wait to stream it, we unfortunately do not yet have a "Superman" streaming date just yet. However, here's my best guess at when I think we might be able to watch the new release at home.
At the time of writing, the only way to see "Superman" is by heading to your nearest movie theater, and that's unlikely to change for a while yet. After all, the movie only just came to the big screen on Friday, July 11.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
The first place you'll be able to stream it at home will surely be via premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts like Amazon or Apple TV.
Like I said above, we don't currently know when "Superman" will make its way to any streaming services. However, being a Warner Bros. movie, we can expect the movie will first be available on Warner Bros. Discovery's newly-renamed streamer, HBO Max.
And if I had to guess when we might be able to watch the DCU's first movie at home, I'd wager James Gunn's "Superman" movie would arrive on HBO Max at the end of September 2025.
That guess is based on the typical length of time we've waited for new releases to hit the streamer. For example, Ryan Coogler's hugely popular thriller "Sinners" came to HBO Max on July 4, which was 78 days after it first hit theaters. That's the same number of days we waited for "A Minecraft Movie", "Companion", and "Mickey 17" to hit HBO Max, too.
So, 78 days seems like the magic number when it comes to Warner Bros. movies, which is why I think we won't see "Superman" soar onto the small screen until the fall. Counting off 78 days from the movie's release day would be Friday, September 26, 2025, and seeing as HBO Max's big movie drops (like those I've listed above) have happened on Fridays, I think that's a pretty compelling guess.
Of course, I'll just stress once more that this is purely speculation, as we do not have a confirmed "Superman" streaming date at the time of writing. Plus, if the movie proves to be a box office smash, there's always the chance it remains in theaters a little longer.
As soon as we hear anything about the streaming future of "Superman," we'll be sure to share that info here. And if you'd like to settle down in front of another movie while you wait, be sure to check out our guide to the best movies on HBO Max for tons of top streaming choices.

‘70s Rock Star, 78, Brings Fans Joy at the End of New ‘Superman' Movie

'70s Rock Star, 78, Brings Fans Joy at the End of New 'Superman' Movie originally appeared on Parade. Moviegoers who watched the new Superman movie may have heard a familiar tune from Iggy Pop during the final scene of the film. Iggy's voice projected through the stereo as his 2006 song with Teddybears, 'Punkrocker,' played as Clark Kent, portrayed by actor David Corenswet, adjusted to his new reality. 'You see me drivin' down the street, I'm just not looking good / I got both hands off the wheel, I got you runnin' / I'm listening to music you can't hear, I got pretty music in my ear,' Iggy, 78, whose real name is James Newell Osterberg Jr., sang. The Teddybears debuted 'Punkrocker' in 2000 on their album Rock'n'Roll Highschool. The group re-released the song with Iggy six years later, which was featured on their album Soft Machine. 'Punkrocker' re-gained popularity amongst fans after they watched Superman. Some people ran to their mobile devices to find the music video on YouTube, and thanked the film's director and writer, James Gunn, for incorporating it in the remake of the DC film. 'Love it, thanks James Gunn, great ending song for Superman,' one fan wrote, as a second added, 'I'm here because of James Gunn's Superman. Unorthodox choice but I love that they used this song to close the movie.' Meanwhile, Iggy received his flowers from die-hard fans. 'IGGY POP has a musical career that spans 5+ decades. He is a national treasure,' a separate person wrote. Teddybears' bandmate Joakim Åhlund previously gushed that collaborating with Iggy on the song was a career high. 'Iggy Pop … it's pretty heavy. All those people are our heroes … we never would've dared to dream. It's all pretty amazing for us that we got the opportunity to work with such cool artists,' he said during an interview with Ion Magazine. 'But for me personally, I don't mean any disrespect to any of the others, but Iggy Pop … that's a proud moment for me.' 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 '70s Rock Star, 78, Brings Fans Joy at the End of New 'Superman' Movie first appeared on Parade on Jul 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Ariana Grande, Josh Gad Lead ‘Oh, the Places You'll Go!' Cast

A Dr. Seuss classic is getting a feature film adaptation. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Ariana Grande and Josh Gad will star in an animated film version of Oh, the Places You'll Go!, set to release on March 17, 2028. Jon. M Chu is set to direct the film, with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul — the Oscar and Tony-winning duo behind Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, and Snow White — handling the music. More from Rolling Stone 'Wicked' TV Special Featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Sets Air Date Frankie Grande Teases First-Ever Collaboration With Sister Ariana Grande Brandy and Monica Confirm Plans to Collaborate on New Music Warner Bros. made the surprise announcement on Twitter Tuesday, July 15, sharing photos of Grande and Gad in a recording booth, posing with a script in their hands. The film reunites Grande with Chu, who directed Wicked and its upcoming second part, Wicked: For Good. Grande starred as Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo in the blockbuster hit. Gad is set to star in Spaceballs sequel, along with Adulthood and Frozen 3. The Dr. Seuss book Oh, the Places You'll Go! was originally published in 1990 and is one of the poetic authors' standouts, along with the likes of The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Lorax. The book follows a protagonist (as the reader) venturing into the real world, experiencing the highs and lows of life, and learning from it all. Numerous Dr. Seuss books have been adapted into films over the years, including How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which was made into a live-action film in 2000 and an animated version, The Grinch, in 2018. The Lorax was adapted into an animated film in 2012, and Horton Hears a Who! was released as an animated movie in 2008. Mike Myers starred in a live-action adaptation of The Cat in the Hat in 2003, while a new animated version starring Bill Hader is slated for release next year. David Corenswet's Superman vs. Henry Cavill's Superman: The Playground Fight the Internet Can't Let Go — GeekTyrant

The Superman discourse has officially hit the playground sandbox stage. With James Gunn's Superman now in theaters, fans have taken their ongoing DCU vs. DCEU rivalry to a new (and slightly absurd) level… Who would win in a fight—David Corenswet's fresh-faced Superman, or Henry Cavill's battle-worn Man of Steel? Yes, the hypothetical showdown nobody asked for is dominating social media, complete with cherry-picked feats, emotional meltdowns, and wildly subjective power scaling. (Warning: spoilers for Superman ahead.) This all kicked off when X user @FromSelinaKyle declared, 'Cavill's Superman would wipe the floor with Corenswet's Superman,' and the internet predictably exploded. Fans quickly took sides. Corenswet defenders pointed to key moments in Superman to argue his raw power: 'He escaped a black hole while half health and holding 3 individuals with his super breath, this feat alone solos Cavill's Superman.' Not to be outdone, a Snyder fan responded with a sharp clapback: 'Cavill's Superman literally did that. He escaped the Phantom Zone, which is stated to be a Black hole that pulls things into a completely different plane of existence.' It didn't stop there. Round two had fans throwing Ben Affleck's Batman into the ring. If Batfleck could take on Cavill's Supes, could he beat Corenswet's? 'If Batman almost took out Cavill, David and Mr Terrific will mop the floor with him.' To which a Snyder loyalist replied: 'Affleck Batman can beat David Superman in hand-to-hand combat.' Then came the power level nitpicking. Cavill fans pointed out that Gunn's Superman literally opens with the hero losing a fight. 'This Superman is pretty weak in comparison.' But context matters, he's three years into his Superman career and fighting a highly strategic villain in Lex Luthor. If anything, it speaks to his growth potential. Still, amid all the digital chest-thumping, one voice cut through the noise with a rare drop of wisdom: 'Sure, he could beat him in a fight, but he wouldn't do that. They're both the good guys. They'd respect each other like you guys should for them both… Cavill's Supes is still the good guy and would have 0 reason to fight HIMSELF.' A much-needed reminder that Superman isn't about winning fights, it's about doing the right thing, even when the fans on the internet refuse to. Even James Gunn and Zack Snyder seem to get the humor in it all. The two directors recently popped up in an episode of Rick and Morty , playing exaggerated versions of themselves locked in a ridiculous battle over whose Superman reigns supreme.
