Six-and-a-half years after we got our first Elder Scrolls 6 teaser we have an official update from Bethesda – and it uses the exact same picture we saw in 2018. Yippee.
Bethesda is working with the Make-A-Wish foundation to raise money for the charity. There's a silent auction that you can bid on to create your very own NPC in the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6. When that game will come out is anybody's guess. The teaser trailer is now older than Skyrim was when it was originally posted.
This should be a very sweet announcement, after all, who doesn't appreciate what Make-A-Wish does? But it's being overshadowed by the fact we've not had any meaningful, Bethesda-driven update on The Elder Scrolls 6 since 2021 when it was teased that the game would be set in Hammerfell – we haven't seen anything else from the game, not even a cinematic.
One Twitter user writes, "Utilizing the same screenshot used for a 5 second teaser 7 years ago, we're so cooked." Another writes, "Will be cool to see them in 2036," joking about how long it's been since we had the last Elder Scrolls game.
Most of the replies are some variation on "Wow, this game is still coming out," or, "I can't believe it's been so long since we got an update for this game."
Former Naughty Dog developer Del Walker did say last year why some games get announced way before they're ready: to attract investors and keen developers. It's a lot easier to hire when people know what it is they'll be working on, but that does leave fans wanting for a lot longer than is comfortable.
If you want a chance to create an NPC in The Elder Scrolls 6, you can visit the Make-A-Wish silent auction page and look for lot 301 – that's the Elder Scrolls one. It's currently up to $10,450, so you'll need to dig deep if you have a chance of winning.
While you're waiting for the next installment in the series, check out our list of the best Elder Scrolls games you can play right now.

Morten Harket, lead singer of a-ha, has Parkinson's disease

Morten Harket has revealed he has Parkinson's disease. The singer of a-ha, the band behind the 1985 hit and innovatively animated music video 'Take On Me,' shared the news during an interview with the group's biographer. 'I've got no problem accepting the diagnosis,' Harket said. 'With time, I've taken to heart my 94-year-old father's attitude to the way the organism gradually surrenders: 'I use whatever works'.' Harket, 65, explained why he wanted to share his diagnosis publicly. 'Acknowledging the diagnosis wasn't a problem for me; it's my need for peace and quiet to work that has been stopping me. I'm trying the best I can to prevent my entire system from going into decline,' he said. 'It's a difficult balancing act between taking the medication and managing its side effects. There's so much to weigh up when you're emulating the masterful way the body handles every complex movement, or social matters and invitations, or day-to-day life in general.' According to Mayo Clinic, 'Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time.' Harket had 'advanced brain surgery' at the Mayo Clinic, which along with medication, 'have softened the impact of his symptoms,' the a-ha biographer, Jan Omdahl, wrote. 'In June 2024, Morten underwent a neurosurgical procedure in which electrodes were implanted deep inside the left side of his brain. These are connected to a small pacemaker-like device placed under the skin of the upper chest that sends electrical impulses through the electrodes into the brain,' Omdahl wrote. 'The method is called deep brain stimulation (DBS) and is among the most advanced treatments in neurology. The procedure had the desired effect: with the right electrical impulses now reaching Morten's brain, many of his physical symptoms practically vanished. In December 2024 he underwent a similar procedure on the right side of his brain, which was also successful.' Harket's voice, however, has been affected, he said. 'The problems with my voice are one of many grounds for uncertainty about my creative future,' Harket said.

Nintendo's Switch 2 release draws eager buyers to S.F.'s Union Square store

Nintendo celebrated the launch of its Switch 2 video game console with a celebration at its new San Francisco store. Nearly 50 people were in line Wednesday afternoon to enter the Union Square shop and get a preview of 'Mario Kart World,' the flagship launch game for the new console. 'I'm seeing people of all races and religions come together over video games and they're playing together, and Nintendo is such an awesome IP because there's so many different worlds to explore, so many different characters. … The line's down the block and around the corner,' said Nintendo fan Darren Stallcup, a San Francisco resident. 'I'm really excited for the future of San Francisco.' The Japanese video game giant's hotly anticipated Switch 2 was set for release at 9 p.m. local time, when shoppers with reservations could buy it for two hours while supplies lasted. Nintendo will have a 'stream of supply coming between launch date and the end of the year. Our goal is to obviously meet demand,' Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, previously told the Chronicle. Online preorders sold out quickly last month, with reports of some being canceled. Following 'Mario Kart World,' Nintendo is releasing 'Donkey Kong Bananza' in July, the first major game starring the gorilla character since 2014. 'Pokémon Legends: Z-A' is also coming in late 2025 to both the original Switch and Switch 2. Aside from games, the Nintendo store sells clothing, accessories, home goods and collectibles like LEGO sets and jewelry. The new store is one of a number of new openings in Union Square, including Shoe Palace, luxury watch stores from Breitling and a Rolex showroom operated by Kerns, and a new Zara flagship next year. Retail brokers have previously said the area is seeing more tenant interest after dozens of business closures since the pandemic. Chronicle photographer Lea Suzuki contributed to this report.
