Hi Dubai3 days ago

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that applications for the third edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award will remain open until 31 August 2025.
The award celebrates excellence in private sector labour practices and honours exceptional members of the UAE workforce.
Submissions can be made through the official website, riyada.mohre.gov.ae. This year's edition expands the total number of winners to nearly 100, up from 84 in 2024, with categories covering establishments, individual workers, labour accommodations, business service partners, and special recognitions.
Applicants will be evaluated by expert committees using criteria such as recruitment, occupational health and safety, innovation, talent attraction, wages, and social responsibility. Winners will be honoured at a ceremony hosted by MoHRE in November.
The Establishments category will recognise 40 companies for excellence in human resource management and workplace wellbeing. The Outstanding Workforce category will award 30 individuals across skilled workers, other professional levels, and domestic workers, with nominees assessed on achievement, lifelong learning, and community impact.
Ten winners will be selected under the Labour Accommodations category, which now includes a new subcategory encouraging sustainable entertainment and engagement initiatives for workers, especially during national events.
The Business Services Partners category will honour three top-performing entities in recruitment and service delivery, while the Special Recognition category will highlight 15 influential contributors—12 pioneering companies and three influencers—for their impact on labour market development and awareness.
In addition to recognition, winners will receive valuable prizes, including cash awards and enhanced access to MoHRE services, offering both prestige and practical benefits.

30 domestic worker agencies penalized in UAE for refund, salary violations

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has taken legal action against 30 domestic worker recruitment agencies in the UAE during the first quarter of 2025. These agencies were found to have violated labor rules meant to protect employers and workers. A total of 89 violations were recorded. Of these, 86 cases involved agencies failing to refund all or part of recruitment fees to employers within the legal deadline. This refund is required when the recruitment service fails or is canceled. Other violations included one agency not clearly showing the approved pricing of service packages, and two agencies not using the Wage Protection System (WPS) properly to pay salaries or commissions to their employees. MOHRE reminded the public to only deal with licensed domestic worker agencies to ensure their rights are protected. A complete list of approved agencies is available on the MOHRE website: Anyone with complaints about refund delays or violations can contact MOHRE at 80040. The ministry assured the public that all feedback is taken seriously and action will be taken if laws are broken.

Federal Tax Authority Holds Dubai Workshop to Boost Corporate Tax Compliance

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) hosted a high-attendance workshop in Dubai today as part of its national campaign to boost awareness and compliance with the UAE's Corporate Tax Law. Nearly 940 representatives from businesses, government entities and key stakeholders participated in the session titled 'Rules for Determining Income Subject to Corporate Tax' . The workshop focused on the general principles of corporate tax, clarifying how income is determined, reported, and taxed under the law that came into effect two years ago. The event is part of a broader initiative by the FTA to promote voluntary compliance and ensure that taxpayers are well-informed about their obligations. Six more in-person workshops are scheduled across the country before the end of 2025, alongside a range of virtual and physical sessions covering all seven emirates. The FTA also reiterated its call for eligible businesses and exempt persons required to register to submit their corporate tax returns within seven months from the end of their first tax period. Doing so would allow them to benefit from the UAE Cabinet Decision that waives administrative penalties for late registrations, provided submissions are made within the specified legal window. Topics discussed included accounting standards, accrual-based income recognition, and definitions of financial elements in line with IFRS. Attendees also received guidance on registration procedures via the EmaraTax platform and criteria for determining taxable persons, applicable rates, and filing deadlines. The FTA confirmed that the campaign, launched in phases since 2024, aims to simplify access to tax information, enhance clarity, and support the business community in complying efficiently with the corporate tax framework.
