Shannon Sharpe steps away from ESPN amid $50M lawsuit

Express Tribune25-04-2025

Shannon Sharpe announced he's stepping away from ESPN temporarily following a $50M sexual assault lawsuit filed against him.
The lawsuit, filed in Clark County, Nevada, accuses Sharpe of rape, physical abuse, and emotional distress during an alleged relationship that began in 2023. The plaintiff, listed as Jane Doe, claims Sharpe assaulted her on two occasions—once in October 2024 and again in January 2025.
In a statement shared on Thursday, Sharpe denied the allegations and called them 'false and disruptive.' He emphasized that he will use this time to focus on his family and respond to the accusations. 'I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and ongoing support I have received from my family, fans, friends, and colleagues,' Sharpe added.
Sharpe plans to return to ESPN in time for the NFL preseason, with the first game scheduled for July 31, 2025.
Sharpe's legal team previously stated via X (formerly Twitter) that the relationship was consensual and described the lawsuit as a 'blatant and cynical attempt to shake down' the former NFL star.
A three-time Super Bowl champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Sharpe retired from the NFL in 2003 with then-record stats for a tight end. Since retirement, he's become a prominent media personality, joining ESPN in 2023 after departing FS1's Undisputed.

Kanye West denied entry to Diddy trial after surprise courthouse appearance in New York

Kanye West made a brief appearance at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ongoing sex trafficking trial in Manhattan on Friday, June 13, 2025, drawing attention despite his short stay. The 48-year-old rapper arrived alongside Combs' son, Christian 'King' Combs, dressed in an all-white denim outfit with black sunglasses — the same ensemble he wore the previous day. West was not allowed into the main courtroom, as his name was not on the pre-approved list of friends and family submitted to court marshals. Instead, he proceeded to the 23rd floor to observe proceedings via a video feed in an overflow room. Page Six confirmed the details, and photos showed West shaking a fan's hand before entering the courthouse. When approached by reporters, West nodded and confirmed he was there to support Diddy, though he declined to say whether he would testify. According to CNN, West and King Combs have been collaborating on music, and West had coordinated his visit with the Combs family. Roughly 45 minutes after arriving, West exited the building with King and several security guards. His wife, Bianca Censori, though in New York with him, did not accompany him to court. West has publicly supported Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. In February, he posted 'FREE PUFF' on X, formerly Twitter, adding, 'All these celebrity n—s and bitches is p—y. Y'all watch our brother rot and never say s—t.' He also shared a video of a FaceTime call with King, calling for solidarity among families of incarcerated individuals. West later released a now-deleted track featuring Diddy, King, and his daughter North, sparking controversy with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

Shocking names revealed in rumored 'The Traitors' season 4 cast

The buzz surrounding Season 4 of The Traitors has reached new heights after a rumored cast list surfaced this morning, leaving fans stunned by some unexpected names. The leak, attributed to Reality TV News/Updates on X, has generated serious excitement in the reality TV community. While some names, like Real Housewives stars Dorinda Medley, Lisa Rinna, Porsha Williams, and Maura Higgins, have been in the rumor mill for a while, others are completely out of left field. Among the most talked-about names is Donna Kelce, the mother of NFL star Travis Kelce. While many fans are shocked by her inclusion, it turns out she isn't the biggest surprise on the list. That honor goes to Rob Cesternino, Survivor legend and podcasting mogul, whose unexpected casting has left even the most seasoned fans surprised. Cesternino, known for his podcast empire Rob Has A Podcast, was rumored to join Survivor's 50th season, but his inclusion in The Traitors is a twist no one saw coming. The rumored cast includes a mix of reality TV icons and athletes, with Survivor contestants Natalie Anderson, Yam Yam Arocho, and Rob Cesternino reportedly joining the show. From Big Brother, fans can expect Ian Terry and Tiffany Mitchell, while The Bachelor star Colton Underwood and singer Eric Nam are also on the list. The addition of figure skater Johnny Weir and Drag Race's Monet X Change adds even more diversity to the already intriguing cast. Despite the exciting lineup, fans are speculating that some names might still be missing. The previous two US seasons of The Traitors had 22 to 23 participants, and this list only includes 16 names, suggesting that more cast members might be revealed later. With the show set to take place in a Scottish castle, the cast promises to bring together multiple fanbases, making Season 4 one of the most anticipated yet. Fans are eagerly waiting for official confirmations, and with Lisa Rinna's Instagram story hinting at her participation, the excitement is palpable.
