Brandon Blackstock's brother pens heartbreaking tribute to 'irreplaceable' sibling
Brandon Blackstock's heartbroken half brother Shelby Blackstock has penned a tribute to his beloved sibling following the news of his death.
It was announced on Thursday evening that Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon had died at the age of 48 – three years after being diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer. A representative for the family announced the tragic news in a statement.
Now, Brandon's race car driver half brother – who shares the same dad, Narvel Blackstock, as Brandon – has spoken out in an emotional tribute. Shelby shared a string of photos of himself and other family members with Brandon on his Instagram page. It comes after Kelly's poignant final interview about Brandon resurfaced in the wake of his death.

In the caption Shelby, who's mother is Reba McEntire, wrote: "Words cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured. Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son.
"Brandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable part of our family—funny, bright, and full of life—and he will be deeply missed."He taught me so much, leaving behind countless cherished memories that I will hold onto forever. For every treasured moment we shared, there are so many more we'll never get to make together, but I know you'll still be there. Every hunt, every flight, and in the everyday moments of life, I'll feel your presence.
"And although it may annoy you, you'll have to watch me do it all just a little better, a little smoother, and —let's be honest— looking far more handsome than you ever could in the process. "We will always miss you, Brandon, and we will never stop loving, remembering and celebrating you."
News of Brandon's death was announced earlier this week as a representative for his family told PEOPLE: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.
"Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
Brandon's ex-wife Kelly Clarkson, who he shares two children with, is yet to speak out following the tragic announcement. Kelly and Brandon share children River Rose, 11, and Remy, nine, together.
However, shortly before Brandon's death was announced, Kelly revealed she had to postpone her Las Vegas gigs due to her ex-husband's ill health.
In a statement on Instagram, she said: "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas.
"While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.
"I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."
It has since emerged that Kelly spent Brandon's final weeks by his bedside despite the pair divorcing in 2022. A source told Page Six: "It's been exhausting and so sad. Kelly has been working so hard, as well as looking after Brandon. Despite their difficult divorce, he's still the man she loved and still her kids' father."

Kelly Clarkson's ex husband moved on with her former assistant before tragic death
Talent manager Brandon Blackstock moved on from his Kelly Clarkson divorce with her former assistant before his tragic death aged 48 following a cancer diagnosis Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock had a "loving partner" at the time of his death, according to his obituary. The talent manager was married to singer Kelly from 2013 to 2020 and they welcomed two children together, River, 11, and son Remington, 9. He tragically died this month aged 48 following a cancer diagnosis over three years ago. Kelly had postponed her Las Vegas residency after sharing Brandon had become ill just before his death. Brandon also had two children from a previous marriage and in 2022, he became a grandfather after his eldest daughter gave birth to a son. Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon after six years of marriage in 2020, just weeks after they put their home on the market. She said in 2023 that the split "ripped her apart". Brandon's obituary has revealed he was in another relationship at the time of his death as they quietly built a new life together in Montana. He had been in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones, who once worked as a former assistant to Kelly. "After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live," the obituary read. "He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana. Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana." A report on Blackstock and Jones' rodeo business from 2024 listed Brittney as Kelly's "former assistant". The surprise revelation came just hours after Brandon's first wife, Melissa Ashworth spoke out. Alongside photos of her with Brandon on their children - Seth, 18, and Savannah, 23 - she wrote: "On May 29, 1999 I married the man who would become the father of my children. "Brandon was full of charm, wit, and just an absolute gentleman who happened to wear cowboy boots, wrangler jeans, and a cowboy hat. He was by far, hands down, the best Daddy and Pa. He loved hard and he fought hard. "The best thing Brandon has left for his children is they know where he is. I've heard it said, "Nothing is lost when you know where it is" and Brandon is with Jesus his Savior. Savannah, Seth, and our grandchildren are the best parts of who Brandon and I are. Thank you all for your prayers and condolences." Brandon married Kelly following his divorce from Melissa. A statement from the family announcing Brandon's death read: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." When announcing she was cancelling her Las Vegas residency, Kelly shared: "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas.. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. Shrek 5 release date is delayed until 2027 as fans say they all 'know why'
The release of Shrek 5 has been delayed until summer 2027. The upcoming DreamWorks' movie — whose teaser was slammed by fans — has been pushed back six months, moving from December 23, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Upon hearing the news, initially reported by Variety, fans commented online that they 'know why' the beloved franchise's latest installment has been stalled. 'We all know why,' Instagram user @taco_chacos wrote, while @solomon_br0 demanded, 'Fix that animation.' Eagle-eyed viewers called out the studio earlier this year after they noticed changes to Shrek's appearance. They accused animators of giving the titular character 'rhinoplasty, lip filler, cheek implants, and a jaw shave' among other tweaks. Upon hearing the news, initially reported by Variety, fans commented online that they 'know why' the beloved franchise's latest installment has been stalled Another person reacted, 'Good! Hope that means they're fixing the animation and writing.' Someone else addd confidently: 'They're changing the character design, we all know that.' 'Hopefully this means they're changing the character design,' another moviegoer echoed. And @zenskittles contributed, 'Still time to change the character designs,' with crossed fingers. @emilyjeffri wishfully wrote that the delay is to 'hopefully make the animation look somewhat similar' to the previous movies. Others urged the studio to take its time while making adjustments to the project. 'Take your time DreamWorks. Take your time,' @maxhechtman advised. @adamcanterbury94 shared a GIF that read: 'That's okay, I'll wait!!' Variety reported that 'the studio didn't give a reason for the hold-up,' but Deadline attributed it to the summer being a 'better' season for the debut. @emilyjeffri wishfully wrote that the delay is to 'hopefully make the animation look somewhat similar' to the previous movie It's the second delay for the film, which was originally slated for a July 2026 release. The new Shrek flick will be the first film in the main series since Shrek Forever After was released in 2010 and sees Zendaya join the cast as the titular ogre's daughter Felicia. Meanwhile, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz will return to lend their voices to Shrek, Donkey and Fiona respectively. Eddie has suggested that Shrek 5 will be packed full of comedy just as the preceding films have been. The 64-year-old actor told Extra in June: 'I've recorded some great stuff. You know, we don't get a full script when we do the Shrek movies. We get the dialogue that we're doing for each session. And I know I've been doing some really funny stuff.' Eddie explained that he will only get to see his co-stars at the premiere of the movie as all of his voice work for the picture was done alone. He said: 'At the end of the movie or when the movie comes out, we see each other at the premiere, but we don't see each other the whole movie. 'It's all just you by yourself and a microphone.' The Hollywood fixture revealed that Donkey is getting his own standalone film that will begin production in September. Asked if Shrek 5's animation is being worked on now, he told ScreenRant in July: 'No, they're still doing voiceover stuff. We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing Shrek. 'We start in September on Donkey. We're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September.' The Beverly Hills Cop star confirmed that Donkey will be getting in his own film in the same way that Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) has previously and that the picture will see him have his 'own little story with his dragon wife.' 'They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September,' he reiterated. The prospect of Shrek 5 was first discussed by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri in 2023 as he expressed hope of reuniting the original cast for the movie. The film producer told Variety: 'We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we've gotten is there's tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return.'
