'Gangster gran' banned from Asda for 'yellow sticker scam' vows to clear name
Jan Rhodes, 67, was barred from her local Asda on Hall Road, in Norwich after allegedly operating a yellow sticker scam.
The supermarket claims to have caught her red-handed swapping reduced stickers on products in the store.
They handed a three-year ban to Jan, who has shopped at the superstore since 2015.
She is now clapping back, claiming Asda have 'got the wrong gran'.
Jan told the Eastern Daily Press: 'I went in to buy three things and while I was there, the security came up to me and said I wasn't allowed in anymore. I've never done that [switch stickers].
'I'm angry and I'm upset. I used to go in there all the time. I know loads of them in there. I just want to prove them wrong.'
The scheme she is accused of involves swapping reduced labels on products to net cheap deals, all before fleeing on her mobility scooter.
The beef revolves in part around a pack of bacon.
Jan is alleged to have bought the meat the day before she was banned as part of her yellow sticker trick.
But her husband Rob says she bought the pack on the same day it was expiring.
He went back to the store to try and show the expiration date in an effort to clear her name.
The gran's stepdaughter, Leanne Hutchings, has rushed to the store to plead her stepmother's case. More Trending
Leanne said: 'They say she's been doing it for a prolonged period of time.
'I explained saying that this is a case of mistaken identity. They also said she's been abusive. She would never be nasty to someone.'
A spokesman for Asda said: 'We ask all customers to treat our colleagues and stores with respect and do not tolerate any form of abuse.
'While banning a customer is always a last resort, this decision was taken due to repeated disruptive and abusive behaviour.'

Serial killer inmate Levi Bellfield given weekly fry-ups and video game time
Levi Bellfield is enjoying a number of special privileges while serving two whole-life sentences for murdering two women and a girl. The 57-year-old was jailed in 2011 for murdering 13-year-old Milly Dowler, 19-year-old Marsha McDonnell and 22-year-old Amelie Delagrange between 2002 and 2003. The only prisoner in the UK to be handed two whole-life tariffs, he was also convicted of attempting to murder Kate Sheedy in 2004. A source told the outlet: 'They don't call it Monster Mansion for nothing; we are used to the worst of the worst here. 'Bellfield isn't a problem on the unit, but it just doesn't feel quite right that a man in for his crimes should be playing Xbox computer games. 'Those on a whole-life order should get the bare minimum, but unfortunately as officers our hands are tied.' Inmates are not allowed to play violent video games but can play other games such as sports titles. Bellfield converted to Islam while in prison, now using the name Yusuf Rahim. Last year he made an application to get married, later withdrawing it and submitting one for a civil partnership. In 2023 he reportedly wrote and signed a confession to killing 19-year-old Vietnamese student Elizabeth Chau, but detectives later concluded he was lying. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice said: 'Having received two whole-life orders, Bellfield will rightly spend the rest of his life in jail.' British holidaymaker found dead in pool at Crete hotel
A criminal investigation is underway after a British pensioner was found dead in a hotel while on holiday in Greece. The woman, 78, had been taking a dip in the hotel pool in Hersonissos, Crete, before falling ill. She was pulled out of the water but pronounced dead on the scene, with three people being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by negligence concerning the death. Two hotel workers, 51 and 41, along with a 21-year-old lifeguard who was meant to be on duty, have all been detained and since released on bail. The tourist has not been named or pictured yet. It comes on the heels of other Brits dying while abroad, including one who died on holiday in Majorca after drowning in a hotel swimming pool, near the Love Island villa. Paramedics rushed to the three-star BJ Playa Blanca Hotel, located between the beaches of S'Illott and Sa Coma on July 29. Ambulances, as well as an air ambulance, were sent to the scene after the tourist, a 52-year-old man who has not yet been named, was found floating face down in the hotel's pool. In mid-July, two British men died after they were found dead in a hotel pool in Portugal. Russian TikTokkers 'arrested for taking selfies outside oil depot inferno'

Footage circulating online shows two young women posing metres away from the inferno, allegedly caused by drone debris hitting a fuel tank. The pair have since been identified as Dasha Vladimirovna, 21, and Karina Evgenyevna, 19 – who have since been detained for accidentally exposing Vladimir Putin's failures to defend Russia. Flames are seen raging behind the two, with pillars of smoke rising into the sky, after the overnight attack. Dasha and Karina do not appear shocked – in the video, they are rapping to the track Crimson Dawn by singer Endshpil, a famous Russian rapper. Before they were identified, police had issued an appeal to members of the piublic, saying: 'During Internet monitoring, a publication was found of two girls filming a video against the backdrop of a fire in Sochi. 'The police have initiated an investigation, measures are being taken to identify the girls, and their actions will be legally assessed.' It was later confirmed that Dasha and Karina had been detained, and there were calls from pro-war outlets for them to issue a public apology over the stunt close to Sochi Airport. Police have not shared the real reason for their arrest, but it is likely that it is the potential glamourising of a Ukrainian strike on Putin's favourite Black Sea resort. The Kremlin has been taking an increasingly hard line against social media stunts seen as highlighting Ukraine's successes in the war. Ukraine's attack is seen as one of the most symbolically and strategically significant ones – deep within Russian territory since the start of the full-scale invasion. The oil depot sustained a direct hit, causing the explosion of a 2,000 cubic metre fuel reservoir and sparking a fire visible across Sochi.
