Outlander's Final Season: First Footage Hints at Jamie's Fate (and It's Not Great) — Watch
'I've been reading Frank's book,' Jamie says in the trailer above, released in conjunction with the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel Friday. What does it say, a worried-looking Claire asks? 'War is coming to the back country,' he replies gravely, 'and that James Fraser dies in it.'

Are there likely more than one James Frasers in America at the time? Probably! Has a historical document been wrong before in this series? Absolutely! Do either of those facts do anything to assuage our concern for Big Red as we head into the show's swan song? Nope, not a bit!
The exchange comes near the end of a video highlighting the series' decade-plus run on Starz. We also get an approximate premiere date: early 2026.
When series star Sam Heughan finished his final work on the season in March, he teased that 'It's going to be quite, quite an emotional one' and promised fans 'I know you're going to love it.'

Before Outlander is back, though, Starz will debut the drama's first spinoff: the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which follows the love stories of Jamie's and Claire's parents. That series premieres with two episodes on Friday, Aug. 8, at 9/8c. (Watch just-released sneak peeks here.)

George Lucas Heading to Comic-Con for First Time Ever
The king of the nerds is finally coming to Comic-Con. George Lucas, whose Star Wars movies helped create many of the ideas of modern fandoms, is coming to San Diego Comic-Con for his first-ever panel. More from The Hollywood Reporter Kenneth Colley, Admiral Piett in a Pair of 'Star Wars' Films, Dies at 87 'Rogue One' Director Has No Plans to Make Another 'Star Wars' Movie: "I'm Very Happy to Move on" 'Star Wars' "Looks Terrible" in Screening of Long Lost Original 1977 Version Lucas will be joined by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and artist and Star Wars prequels production designer Doug Chiang for a panel that will explore the power of illustrated story and offer a sneak peek at the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Queen Latifah, the Grammy- Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress and recording artist, will moderate the panel, which will take place Sunday in Hall H, the cavernous and storied arena in the San Diego Convention Centre. The panel of creators will discuss the role of narrative art in society while tracing humanity's innate desire to draw, animate and bring to life stories across the millennia. 'We are beyond thrilled to welcome George Lucas to Comic-Con for the very first time,' said David Glanzer, chief communications and strategy officer of Comic-Con. 'Nearly five decades ago, Star Wars made one of its earliest public appearances at our convention, along with a booth featuring Howard Chaykin's now legendary Star Wars poster as a promotional item. 'Now, to have Mr. Lucas return, this time to debut the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, is a true full-circle moment. His lifelong dedication to visual storytelling and world-building resonates deeply with us and our community, and the museum's mission to celebrate narrative art in all its forms perfectly reflects what Comic-Con has championed from the very beginning.' Star Wars has been tied to Comic Con since its earliest days although surprisingly Lucas has not made a pilgrimage to the geek mecca himself, preferring to let creatives or fan outreach executives make appearance. A Star Wars panel was held in 1976, a year before the original movie was released, but the panelists included the makers of the not-yet launched Star Wars comic from Marvel, writer Roy Thomas and artist Chaykin. And there have been many a panel on many aspects of Star Wars, although most were not of the headline-making variety. One exception was a panel in 2004 where Lucasfilm revealed Revenge as the Sith as the title for Star Wars: Episode III. Another was when Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill shared the stage in 2015 to unveil a peek at the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens, although that was now in the Disney era and Lucas was not part of that. The Lucas Museum is dedicated to illustrated storytelling across time, cultures, and media and its collection will include works by Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judy Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish. There will also be showcases for work by comic artists, including Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The museum also houses the Lucas Archive, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas's filmmaking career. Co-founded by Lucas and Mellody Hobson and to be located in LA's Exposition Park, the museum is slated to open in 2026. From ‘South Park' to George Lucas' First Comic-Con: Inside the Most Anticipated Panels
Usually, not having a Marvel Studios panel signals a less than exciting convention. There's less rock-star energy and less hyped-up news (like last year's Robert Downey Jr. reveal as Doctor Doom). But even with Marvel sitting out this year's Comic-Con, the lineup is still surprisingly robust. (The below presentations all will appear in Hall H.) South Park (July 24, 6:45 p.m.) Creators Trey Stone and Matt Parker don't mince words, and with the panel coming amid their $3 billion battle over the future of South Park, fans are hoping for some grousing about Skydance, the presumptive soon-to-be owner of Paramount they have blamed for holding up season 27. More from The Hollywood Reporter George Lucas Heading to Comic-Con for First Time Ever Comic-Con: Fashion Brand Her Universe Partners With Universal Pictures for 'Wicked'-Themed Geek Couture Competition (Exclusive) Joe Russo Says Robert Downey Jr. Is Researching and "Writing Backstory" for Doctor Doom Role: "He Is So Dialed In" The Long Walk (July 25, 3 p.m.) The stacked cast of up-and- comers, including Cooper Hoffman and Alien: Romulus breakout David Jonsson, could make it The Outsiders of this generation. But the real reason to attend is to see how Lionsgate will position the film, which has subject matter so controversial — a contest in which men must walk at least 4 miles an hour or be shot — that New Line gave up the rights to the Stephen King novel several years ago. Alien: Earth (July 25, 1:25 p.m.); Predator: Badlands (July 25, 4:15 p.m.) After years of being considered second-rate properties, both are back on the upswing thanks to the 2022 Hulu hit Prey and last year's Alien: Romulus. Now, Predator returns to Hall H with Prey director Dan Trachtenberg's next venture, while Alien has the splashy Noah Hawley show. Parent company Disney is all over the con, bringing Jared Leto's Tron: Ares to Hall H at 5:30 p.m. July 25. Star Trek Universe (July 26, 12:30 p.m.) Paramount+ brings the original geek property for its customary blockbuster 90-minute panel featuring the upcoming Starfleet Academy live-action series and the fan favorite Strange New Worlds. It could be particularly poignant as that series was recently revealed to be ending. Project Hail Mary (July 26, 2:15 p.m.) Ryan Gosling returns to Comic-Con for the first time in nearly a decade, this time bringing his big-swing sci-fi epic. The movie also marks Spider-Verse favorites Phil Lord and Chris Miller's first directorial effort since 2014. Peacemaker (July 26, 3:30 p.m.) James Gunn arrives for a Superman victory lap to preview season two of his series. George Lucas (July 27, 11 a.m.) The Star Wars mastermind, shockingly, has never been to the con. That changes this year when he's joined by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and Star Wars prequels production designer Doug Chiang for a sneak peek at the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.
