Rajkummar Rao To Begin Shoot For Ujjwal Nikam Biopic From THIS Month: Report
Ujjwal Nikam is one of India's most renowned public prosecutors, best known for handling several high-profile and sensitive cases
Rajkummar Rao is currently an extremely busy actor in the industry. He has been shooting back-to-back. And now it is reported that he will soon commence filming on a high‑voltage courtroom drama inspired by the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks later this month, according to sources.
Pinkvilla has quoted a source saying that the Ujjwal Nikam biopic will go on floors in the last quarter of 2025 with a start-to-finish schedule. 'The prep-work for Ujjwal Nikam biopic is presently underway, and Rajkummar Rao is expected to undergo intense acting workshops to step into the shoes of a real-life lawyer. Several names were considered for the film, but eventually, Avinash felt that no one fits the bill like Rajkummar Rao," revealed a source close to the development.
'It is a tribute to one of the greatest public prosecutors of India. Avinash Arun, Dinesh Vijan, and Rajkummar Rao are all excited to bring it to the spectacle. The film will retell few of the biggest courtroom battles on the big screen," the source added.
Initially, there was buzz around Aamir Khan taking on the role. However, due to his work commitments, he opted out of the film. Sources close to the development told that Rao came on board after Aamir Khan's exit.
While the film is inspired by real events and features a real-life figure at its centre, Maddock Films has clarified that it won't follow the traditional biopic format. Rather than covering Nikam's entire life or legal career, the film will focus on a specific chapter — the intense courtroom drama and legal fight for justice after the 2008 attacks. Instead, the upcoming project will spotlight his pivotal role in the high-profile trial following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, rather than chronicling his entire life or career.
Ujjwal Nikam is one of India's most renowned public prosecutors, best known for handling several high-profile and sensitive cases over the past few decades. His most notable work came during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack trial, where he led the prosecution against Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist. Nikam's sharp courtroom strategies and dedication to justice have earned him national recognition. Over the years, he has prosecuted major cases involving terrorism, gang violence, and crimes against women, making him a key figure in India's legal system.

Saiyaara is second to Pathaan at the UK box office in 2nd weekend; Impresses with USD 9 million overseas in 10 days
The Mohit Suri directed Saiyaara has a fantastic second weekend at the overseas box office, collecting USD 3.80 million (Rs. 33 crore) approx. This marks a 95 per cent increase over its opening weekend, pushing its total gross to USD 8.90 million (Rs. 77 crore). The YRF musical led by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is fast approaching the Rs. 400 crore mark globally, with its worldwide box office tally at Rs. 373 crore at the end of 10th day. Saiyaara has so far impressed with its opening and also then trajectory. It will cruise past the USD 10 million mark in all probability on Tuesday. It is well placed to surpass USD 15 million, it could even go over USD 20 million, subject to how it sustains in coming weeks, first indication of which should come with the Monday hold. The United Kingdom has emerged as the best performer for the film. The second weekend amounted to over GBP 500K, second only to Pathaan. Yesterday, the UK almost overtook the United States as the top collecting territory, which is something that never happens nowadays. Once upon a time, the UK was the biggest overseas territory for Bollywood, but that was a long time ago. The market down-spiralled in between, but has made a comeback recently. The UK tends to have the best legs for Bollywood films among overseas territories. So, even though it trails behind the US and UAE in the total gross, by the end of the run, it could emerge on top, which will be an amazing feat. Saiyaara is a big blockbuster, and proves that love stories have an audience base even today if made with heart and honesty. The film also brings to the forefront the importance of music in the film fraternity, as the songs have been driving factors for its theatrical success. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Saiyaara.

Sid at Siddhivinayak to Rajkummar at Golden Temple: Bollywood's new batch of dads go spiritual for their little ones
It was only 2 weeks back that Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa announced that they were expecting their first baby. Sidharth Malhotra and his mother at Siddhivinayak Temple; Rajkummar Rao at Golden Temple(Photos: Instagram) Round about the same time, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani also announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, on July 16. Settling into their new roles as parents, both Sidharth and Kiara have kept quite a low profile, following from their equally hush-hush pregnancy months, save for a few grand occasions such as the latter's Met Gala debut. Earlier today however, Sidharth stepped out for his first public appearance since the birth of his little girl. With his mother Rimma Malhotra in tow, the actor paid a humble visit to the hallowed Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai, presumably bowing his head to pray for the newest mum on the block, wife Kiara, and their little one, whose name is yet to be disclosed. Another heartening public outing reflecting the same sentiment was Rajkummar Rao's quick visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Sharing a series of pictures of him bowing in front of the holy waters, the actor caption his post, "सतनाम वाहेगुरु। वाहे गुरु जी दा खालसा वाहे गुरु जी दी फतेह। ❤️". Rajkummar's presence there, was presumably to seek blessings for his expecting wife and their little who'll soon join them earth side. The actor made his quick trip to Amritsar, shortly after marking his presence for designers Shantnu & Nikhil, who showcased their Fall-Winter 2025 line at the currently ongoing Hyundai India Couture Week, in association with FDCI. As a matter of fact, the show concluded with Rajkummar, and several other front row attendees like Arjun Rampal, Jim Sarbh, Randeep Hooda, Rahul Khanna, Vihaan Samat and Zahaan Kapoor joining the designer duo on stage as the curtains fell on the show. Coming back to their spiritual trysts, we wish the both of them all the very best as they embrace fatherhood.
