Justin Baldoni's attorney accused of LEAKING Blake Lively's deposition details to press; actress' lawyers seek sanctions, transcripts stricken off from record

Time of India2 days ago
The legal battle between Blake Lively and
Justin Baldoni
is heating up with the actress' attorneys accusing the director's legal team of 'leaking' information.
Lively's legal team on Monday, filed a motion seeking sanctions against Baldoni's lead counsel, Bryan Freedman, for allegedly violating court orders and engaging in what they described as a 'pre-trial press tour' intended to undermine the actress's character.
The motion, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses Freedman of repeatedly making inflammatory public statements in violation of a February order that required both parties to comply with the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, and prohibited them from attacking the other's character with the intent to influence legal proceedings.
Lively's Team Files A Motion
According to the motion, as reported by Deadline and Varitey, Freedman "almost immediately" violated the court's directive by launching 'biased and inflammatory pre-trial indictments of Ms.
Lively's character, credibility and reputation' across various media platforms.
The filing cites several interviews Freedman gave to outlets including TMZ, People, and The Megyn Kelly Show, in which he suggested, among other things, that Lively was 'afraid of the truth'.
Lively Trying to Seal Records?
Lively's deposition was conducted privately last Thursday, with only legal representatives and a court reporter present. However, the following day, Baldoni's team filed a motion in an unrelated discovery dispute and attached a sealed copy of Lively's 292-page deposition transcript as an exhibit.
Though the transcript remains sealed, Lively's lawyers argued that the move was a 'deliberate attempt' to force the deposition into the public domain. They also claimed that it was a move to compel Lively's team to request that the documents remain sealed', creating a doubt about her intentions to 'hide' information.
Planting A False Narrative
'The Wayfarer Defendants and their counsel hope to make Ms. Lively defend the continued sealing of the transcript so they can advance a false narrative that Ms.
Lively is afraid of her deposition testimony becoming public, which is entirely untrue and deeply harmful,' the motion states.
Lively's attorneys are requesting that the deposition transcript be "stricken from the court record" and that sanctions be imposed on Freedman for conduct they describe as a 'public relations stunt'.
About The Lawsuit
Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his publicists, and Wayfarer Studios over alleged sexual harassment and retaliation on the set of the film It Ends With Us. Meanwhile, Baldoni has denied all allegations, and filed countersuits to the tune of $400 million, which were dismissed earlier this year.
Baldoni and Lively are scheduled for a courtroom showdown when their trial begins in March 2026.

Colleen Hoover's Regretting You Trailer Out Amid It Ends With Us Controversy

The trailer introduces audiences to Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) and her daughter, Clara Grant (McKenna Grace). The author of It Ends With Us, Colleen Hoover, is bringing back her bestselling novel of 2019, Regretting You, to life. The upcoming romantic drama promises a heart-wrenching storyline. Recently, the makers released the trailer of Regretting You, providing the first official insight into the movie, which features Allison Williams and McKenna Grace as a mother-daughter duo. On Tuesday, the first trailer of Regretting You was dropped on the official channel of Paramount Pictures on YouTube. Directed by Josh Boone, known for the 2014 movie The Fault in Our Stars, the upcoming romantic drama introduces audiences to Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) and her daughter Clara Grant (McKenna Grace). The duo can be seen exploring their lives after facing a devastating loss in an accident. Trailer Of Regretting You The caption alongside the trailer of the movie reads, 'When life pulls you down, love lifts you up." The 2-minute 32-second video gives a sneak peek into the storyline featuring the shocking betrayal and forces between the mother-daughter duo of the film, which leads them to confront family secrets, redefine love, and rediscover each other. The caption further mentions, 'REGRETTING YOU is a story of growth, resilience, and self-discovery in the aftermath of tragedy." The film opens in the theatres on October 24. It also stars Scott Eastwood (as Chris Grant, Morgan's husband and Clara's father), Dave Franco (as Jonah Sullivan, Morgan's love interest after her husband's tragic accident), Mason Thames (as Miller Adams, Clara's love interest), and Willa Fitzgerald (as Jenny Davidson, Morgan's sister). Dave Franco Opens Up About His Regretting You Character Previously, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dave Franco described his character in the romantic drama as 'pretty pure-hearted and to a fault sometimes," adding, 'He is always trying to do the right thing, even if it goes against what his heart is telling him. I usually play either villains or very morally corrupt characters… but it's nice to play a character that is hopefully a little bit closer to who I am in real life." He continued, 'That's been really, really fun — to not start in a place where I feel like I've dug a hole for myself… I can now start in a good place where audiences will hopefully be on board with me from the get-go." Allison Williams Quips On Her Emotional Role In Regretting You In the same conversation, Allison Williams also reflected on her role. 'My whole nervous system and my tear ducts really need the levity. As you may see in this scene, in every scene, I cannot resist the urge to punctuate these scenes with improv that can never end up in the movie because it's a PG-13 movie, and I swear like a sailor. Given that my only formal training is improv comedy, it's just sort of the crutch I rely on every once in a while," she said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. BAFTA Drops 2026 Award Dates, Changes International TV Category Voting Rules

London: British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has tweaked its voting process for the international TV category so that all of its 6,000 members are allowed to determine the nominations and winners, reported Deadline. Previously, the round one voting longlist was carried out by members, but round two and three voting was conducted by a jury. According to the outlet, the awards body said it has "opened up the international category to voting members as part of our commitment to greater member engagement across the TV Awards and in recognition of our global membership," as quoted by Deadline. "We believe this change will strengthen the category and ensure the very best international programmes get the recognition they deserve," it added, as quoted by Deadline. This new move by BAFTA is a reflection of an ever-globalising world of television, as the international TV category has given some interesting winners over the past few years. According to Deadline, in 2024, it was given to Netflix France series 'Class Act', which beat off competition from huge hits like 'The Bear', 'Beef' and 'Succession'. A year prior, the controversial 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' beat the likes of Jennifer Ortega's 'Wednesday' and 'The White Lotus'. Last year's winner was Disney+'s Shogun, reported Deadline. Hilary Rosen, chair of BAFTA's Television Committee, said, "This year, the most notable change to the rulebook is the International category, which will now be determined by our 6,000-strong TV voting membership. Awarding creative excellence and inspiring future talent is central to BAFTA's mission, so we look forward to commemorating the achievements of the exceptional people who bring TV to life on and off-screen next Spring." In another tweak, BAFTA has said that for submissions with at least five candidates, the body will allow one exemption for a senior team member who might not be UK-eligible, as long as 80% of the team are UK-eligible and there is a clear reason for the exemption. "This reflects how our industry works today, while maintaining our commitment to celebrating UK talent and craft," it added, while pointing to the increase in international co-productions being submitted to the awards, reported Deadline. Last year's BAFTA TV Award nominations saw records broken by the American streamers, who picked up multiple nods for 'Baby Reindeer', 'Slow Horses' and Rivals. BAFTA has opened up entries to this year's TV Awards and listed key dates, including the main awards taking place on May 10 and the crafts on April 26. Nominations will be announced in March next year, according to Deadline. Hilary Rosen, chair of BAFTA's Television Committee, said: "In a year when we saw that TV still has the power to spark national debate and where we honoured the exceptional creativity and craft of British and international TV, I'm delighted to open entries again for Britain's biggest celebration of the small screen," as quoted by Deadline. BAFTA 2025 took place at the Royal Festival Hall within London's Southbank Centre on May 11.
