Yahoo14-07-2025
Are you a fan of the Smurfs and want to experience a day in their shoes? Then you're in luck.
Airbnb is inviting two families to become the iconic blue characters for a day in the Belgian countryside to celebrate their new film being released soon.
The four-hour experience will see guests embark on a series of Smurf-inspired activities, where they will learn how to live like the characters.
Airbnb adds: "From decorating your own hat and trying your aim at archery, to busting out the viral dance routine from the new movie, it will be a day of blue magic, where guests don't have to worry about Gargamel."
An extra element to the experience will see host Nicolas Tytgat - grandson of The Smurfs creator Peyo - guiding guests through the activities.
To be in with a chance to win the experience, guests will be able to book it from 11am on Wednesday, July 16 on the Airbnb website here.
It is designed for up to four guests, is completely free of charge and will take place on Sunday, August 3.
Airbnb adds: "Travel to the Experience is not included, and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis."

The itinerary for the day in the life as a Smurf is as follows:
Welcome: Guests will enter the forest and arrive outside Papa Smurf's mushroom house - where they will be greeted by the host.
Fuel with a smurfberry drink: To fuel themselves for the day, guests will have the first-ever taste of a Smurfberry drink, a delicious purple berry refreshment beloved by Smurfs and said to be their primary source of energy.
Make your own Smurf hat: Stepping inside the home to kick off the day's activities, guests will gather around Papa Smurf's table to customise their very own Smurf hats, which they'll wear throughout the day. Adventurous guests can even get a sneak peek at Papa's home while he's away.
Try your hand at archery: Outside the mushroom and through the forest, guests will then explore their beautiful surroundings and practice woodland archery with the host.
A feast fit for a Smurf: Guests will take a break from activities to feast on a wholesome and delicious Smurf-inspired picnic, from blue Smurfberry cakes to French fries - Smurfette's favourite snack.
Dance like a Smurf star: Once their food has settled, guests will take to an open-air forest stage, where a Smurf-trained choreographer will teach them a dance routine as featured in the new film, worthy of a Smurf Village celebration.
Farewell: The experience ends on a sweet note with Smurfberry ice cream and a heartfelt farewell from the host. Each family will leave with their custom Smurf hats and memories to last a lifetime.

"The experience is a unique way to showcase Belgium's beauty at a time when families are looking to unplug and connect with nature."

‘Death Stranding' Is Helping UK Users Bypass Age Verification Laws

Gamers in the United Kingdom have found a surprisingly simple way to bypass online age verification checks now required by law on some websites using just a video game. An X user named Dany Sterkhov appears to be the first to discover the hack. On July 25, he posted that he had bypassed Discord's age verification check using the photo mode in the video game Death Stranding. Sterkhov made the post just days after the U.K. began enforcing the Online Safety Act—a set of laws passed in 2023 aimed at preventing children from accessing porn or other 'harmful' content related to self-harm, suicide, and eating disorders. Companies that fail to comply with the new laws could face fines of up to 18 million pounds ($24.2 million) or 10% of their global revenue, whichever amount is higher. According to the U.K.'s media regulator, Ofcom, platforms like Bluesky, Discord, Grindr, Reddit, and X have already committed to adding age verification systems to their platforms. 'Prioritizing clicks and engagement over children's online safety will no longer be tolerated in the U.K.,' said Ofcom executive chief Dame Melanie Dawes in a statement. 'Our message to tech firms is clear – comply with age-checks and other protection measures set out in our Codes, or face the consequences of enforcement action from Ofcom.' But it turns out some of these age verification methods aren't all that hard to trick. The Verge and PCGamer have both tried Sterkhov's hack themselves and confirmed it works. Most of these companies rely on third-party platforms to handle age verification. These services typically give users the option to upload a government-issued photo ID or submit photos of themselves. Discord uses a platform called k-ID for age verification. According to The Verge's Tom Warren, all he had to do to pass the check was point his phone's camera at his monitor to scan the face of Sam Bridges, the protagonist of Death Stranding, using the game's photo mode. The system did ask him to open and close his mouth—something that is easy enough to do in the game. Warren was also able to bypass Reddit's age check, which is handled by Persona, using the same method. However, the trick didn't work with Bluesky's system, which uses Yoti for age verification. Discord and Reddit did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Gizmodo. Death Stranding gamers weren't the only ones trying to avoid the age verification systems. ProtonVPN reported on X that it saw an over 1,400 percent increase in sign-ups in the U.K. after the age verification requirements took effect. VPNs let people browse the web as if they were in a different location, making it easier to bypass the U.K.'s age checks. In the U.S., laws requiring similar age verification systems for porn sites have passed in nearly half the states. Nine states in the U.S. have also passed laws requiring parental consent or age verification for social media platforms.

Malaikaraiss Berlin Spring 2026 Collection

This season at Malaikaraiss, the focus is on cuts. It's a small 'best of' from designer Malaika Raiss, who is well-known in Berlin, especially for bridal and evening wear designed with comfort and ease—in all sizes and with all the extras. For example: a black velvet halter dress created a new sculptural silhouette with a removable nylon belt with a lacquer effect, while semi-transparent sequined dresses laid against the body like liquid shimmer. Playing with contrasting elements, like black against white, sequins and velvet, and body-skimming and voluminous silhouettes, has a metaphorical meaning for the designer. 'For me, it's about love in all its layers. Of course, it can be light and cheerful, but it can also be dark and deep.'

This Luxury Historic London Hotel Is Known As A Culinary Destination

Raffles London at The OWO made itself stand out from the moment it opened in 2023 with nine dining ... More venues. When a new hotel opens, it often brings along with it one, maybe two culinary attractions. Honestly, in a city as densely populated as London, hotels don't often have the space to house more than a couple of restaurants in the center of the city. However, Raffles London at The OWO made itself stand out from the moment it opened in 2023 with nine dining venues, including four from two different Michelin-starred chefs. 'Raffles London at The OWO offers truly immersive dining experiences that exceed traditional hotel offerings,' says Fiona Harris, director of marketing and communications at Raffles London at The OWO, in an email interview with Forbes. 'The thought and care that is woven into each and every culinary aspect is unparalleled, from top-tier service to exquisite preparation and unique flavors, Raffles London at The OWO delivers excellence at every turn.' Five of the nine restaurants and two of the bars are operated by the hotel itself. 'All offer a diverse gastronomy,' says Harris. 'No one concept is the same, allowing guests to indulge and imbibe in a melting pot of global cuisine, crafted by the world's most renowned culinary masterminds.' Mauro Colagreco at Raffles London at The OWO is the namesake signature restaurant at the property from Michelin-starred chef Maura Colagreco. This year, the spot won its first Michelin star. In addition, the property has two other restaurants from Colagrecco (Mauro's Table, an experience focused on British ingredients, and Saison by Mauro Colagrecco, an all-day Mediterranean concept). There is also The Drawing Room (a spot for afternoon tea and cocktails), The Guards Bar and Lounge (a bar with views of the Changing of the Guard), The Spy Bar (a hidden speakeasy that pays tribute to MI5 and MI6), Pillar Kitchen (a health-focused concept) and Paper Moon (an Italian restaurant with Milanese roots). Independently, Raffles London at The OWO is also home to Kioku by Endo, a rooftop restaurant with Japanese-inspired cuisine by Michelin-starred chef Endo Kazutoshi, and Kioku Sake Bar. The rooftop restaurant recently welcomed a new head sushi chef, Shibata Takehito, a protégé of Endo Kazutoshi, who works alongside executive chef George Gkoregias. 'By offering a plethora of dining experiences, Raffles London at The OWO becomes a destination in itself,' says Harris. 'Guests no longer have to leave the property to enjoy delicious, Michelin-starred gastronomy. Instead, these offerings are at their fingertips. And the grandeur and scale of The OWO as a magnificent building allow for the clever use of space for dining and drinking.' For example, according to Harris, The Spy Bar was where James Bond author Ian Fleming used to visit in his role as a British Naval Intelligence Officer. Other on-site dining venues have historical significance, including Saison by Mauro Colagreco, whose site was once the historic library of the Old War Office. 'By incorporating elements of history into its cuisine, Raffles London at The OWO ensures that each dining experience is one-of-a-kind,' says Harris.
