Jay Blades in court after separate rape charges emerge
West Mercia Police said the 55-year-old is due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on August 13 on the rape charges.
On Tuesday, Blades, who fronted primetime BBC show The Repair Shop, appeared at Worcester Crown Court via video link for a preliminary hearing in relation to the controlling or coercive behaviour charge.
Blades, who wore animal-print spectacles, a grey suit and a blue polka-dot tie, spoke only to confirm his name during a short hearing.
The TV star previously denied engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen between January 1 2023 and September 12 last year.
He faces trial at a later date.
In a statement on Tuesday, police also confirmed separate charges of rape.
The force said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape.
'He is due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on 13 August 2025.'
Furniture restorer Blades found fame on restoration programme The Repair Shop, which he started presenting in 2017.
He also presented the BBC's Money For Nothing until 2020, and appeared on Celebrity Masterchef and Celebrity Bake Off as well as Comic Relief.

Salford Lads and Girls Club given incredible news months after facing closure
Salford Lads and Girls Club has been awarded a grant of £438,000 - nine months after it faced closure. The money will be used for essential repairs to the Grade II-listed building in Ordsall. The cash is the biggest grant the 122-year-old institution has ever received and will ensure its future for generations to come. It was saved at the end of last year following a Manchester Evening News fundraising campaign. In just six weeks, £273,000 was raised. Donations included £100,000 from Salford council; £50,000 from Morrissey; and £30,000 from the gas company Cadent. The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund - led by the public body and funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport - rescues listed buildings and sites facing dereliction or demolition. Projects range from Victorian market halls to medieval churches Leslie Holmes, projects manager at Salford Lads and Girls Club for 23 years, said: "Getting recognition from people like Historic England is amazing. A lot of brick work on one side of the building needs repairing. We have had a lot of erosion and damage by strong winds. "There are quite a few bricks that need replacing. On the top of the building we have copings which are showing their age and need rebedding. Whenever there is a big storm we get water in the building. We are going to put an extra hopper on each of the downspouts which carry rainwater from the gutters. "After 23 years working to save the future of this remarkable building, this is by far the largest grant we have ever been awarded. In 2003 Salford Lads and Girls Club was listed as the rarest surviving example of a pre-First World Ward working lads clubs still in use. "This award from Historic England is another step in securing the club for future generations of local families and for the thousands of music fans from across the world who walk down Coronation Street to stand in front of the famous sign and who now come inside to share our special story." Laura Slingsby, chief executive officer at the club, said: "This support from Historic England is incredibly important for us. It's a place that families have walked through for generations. This investment will allow us to keep it standing strong for another 100 years. "We're not just preserving bricks and mortar, we're keeping alive a space that inspires pride, tells Salford's story of resilience, and provides our local community and young people with access to heritage and opportunities they wouldn't find elsewhere. It's a game-changer for the building, our club, and the entire community." Nick Abbot, a partner in the Simon Fenton Partnership, appointed as Quantity Surveyors for the restoration, attended the club as a youngster. He said: "Salford Lads and Girls Club isn't just bricks and mortar - it's a lifeline, a memory-maker, and a symbol of pride for so many in the community, including me. To play a part in preserving it for the future is incredibly special." In 1985, the club was used as the setting for an iconic image of Manchester band The Smiths. The picture, taken by Stephen Wright, has brought the club global recognition and a source of funding from fans of the group. To this day, fans from all over the world make a pilgrimage to the venue. It offers sport and other activities six days a week to more than 200 young people in one of the most deprived areas of the country. A unique archive contains the records of over 22,500 members since its opening in 1903 displayed on a remarkable five metre Wall of Names. In the north west, projects receiving grants as well as Salford Lads and Girls Club include the restoration of the upper seating areas at Morecambe Winter Gardens; and the conservation of the Grade II-listed pump house at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port. The fund operates alongside Historic England's existing Heritage at Risk programme, targeting sites requiring immediate action to prevent further deterioration. Louise Brennan, director of regions at Historic England said: "Thanks to the extra funding from the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund, we are able to breathe new life into neglected historic buildings in the north west that we haven't been able to help through our existing grant schemes. "This initiative will not only boost economic growth but also create amazing opportunities for people in some of the region's most disadvantaged areas. We're thrilled to support projects that harness the power of heritage to make a real difference where it's needed most."

A cancer-stricken pensioner has been handed a criminal conviction for not paying £27 of tax on her husband's car in the weeks after he suddenly died. The 68-year-old, from Liverpool, did not realise the tax on her husband's Ford Kuga would automatically be cancelled when she told government agencies about his death. While in mourning and also going in and out of hospital herself while battling cancer, she missed paying £27.09 in tax as the vehicle sat – undriven - outside their home for just over a month. Her case was handled in the fast-track Single Justice Procedure, where prosecutors do not usually see letters from defendants and routinely miss the chance to assess if it's in the public interest to proceed. A magistrate imposed a criminal conviction but spared the woman a fine, handing her a discharge instead. But the JP also ordered her to pay £27.09 in unpaid tax, despite her insistence that her late-husband had already paid at least some of that bill and was never refunded. The government has carried out a consultation on reform of the Single Justice Procedure after a slew of scandals, including almost 60,000 wrongful train fare evasion convictions, as well as harsh penalties handed out to pensioners with dementia, cancer patients, and people with severe health problems for not paying household bills. But the Ministry of Justice has done nothing to change the system in the three months since the consultation closed. The pensioner, in her letter to Bradford magistrates court, set out that the car was registered in her husband's name and was fully taxed until March 31, 2025. 'My husband sadly passed away suddenly on March 9, 2025', she wrote. 'I then completed the tell once portal and did not realise at the time that the car tax would cease at the date of death. 'I thought it would continue until the date it had been paid up until, March 31, 2025. 'Upon trying to transfer the car into my name I could not find the logbook to do so, so I contacted the DVLA who informed me of the form to complete which I done, and as soon as the new ownership come through in my name I made a SORN declaration. 'Since the date of my husband's death the vehicle remained on the roadside and was not driven until I realised it was not taxed, and at that point I arranged for it to be moved on to the driveway and there it remained until it was recently sold. 'There may have been a slight delay in the SORN being made as I myself have been receiving treatment for cancer and have been in and out of hospital. 'At no point have I ever knowingly not paid car tax, it has been an administrative error made in the midst of dealing with cancer treatment and grief at the sudden loss of my husband. 'In addition, my husband has never received any refund of the car tax from the period he passed away, March 9, to the point in which tax was paid, March 31. 'I hope you look upon my case in the sentiment it should be.' The DVLA has called for reform of the Single Justice Procedure, so that all letters of mitigation from defendants are handed to prosecutors before a case goes in front of a magistrate. This change would allow for prosecutors to check if cases are in the public interest in light of information put forward in mitigation. Magistrates themselves say the system is broken, and called for reform more than 16 months ago. But their concerns were not acted upon by the previous Conservative government. Former Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas expressed disappointment last summer that politicians had not acted already to reform the court system. The Single Justice Procedure was set up in 2015 to deal with low-level offences such as speeding, fare evasion, non-payment of car tax and insurance, and truancy. MPs agreed at the time that magistrates could sit in private to deal with cases instead of open court, with no prosecutor present and convictions being decided on written evidence alone.

According to Flixpatrol, Heads of State was among the top ten most-viewed films worldwide for a month on Amazon Prime Video. Cena plays the US president, and Elba is the prime minister of the UK while Chopra is an MI6 agent in the film. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. The president and the prime minister have a lot going on - the latter doesn't appreciate the fact that the former was elected as the head of his country because he was a huge Hollywood star. As heads of two countries majorly deciding the course of most global actions, they must be seen as allies. Despite their differences, they must appear to agree on important ideologies and steps. Both the actors offer a charming camaraderie in the process. They are playful and cheerful, yet authoritative. Chopra adds an interesting twist to the equation. She brings the agility and expertise of a secret agent while keeping it curtly passionate with her ex. The film is a fun-filled action ride which offers adrenaline-rush in the action sequences and lighthearted comedy in others. It also pushes political commentary with subtlety, making it possible for the audience to thoroughly enjoy the movie even if they are not aware of the politics. Earlier in July, Heads of State director Naishuller hinted at the possibility of having a sequel.
