President Erdogan becomes Turkey's new dictator, puts opposition leaders...., ready to change…
Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is trying to eliminate the opposition and is emerging as the new dictator of the country. As per reports, at the behest of Erdogan, Turkish authorities have detained several members of the opposition party in Istanbul. Several raids were conducted on opposition-run municipalities. According to Turkish media, these raids are part of legal action against the opposition. However, this is being seen as a retaliatory action against the opposition.
Erdogan's Biggest Rival Is Already In Jail
Notably, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu has already been jailed by Erdogan in March this year on charges of corruption and aiding a terrorist group. He is also the Turkish President's political rival and was ahead of him in some polls. The arrest of Ekrem, from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), sparked widespread protests and economic turmoil. The action also put allegations on government influence on judiciary system.
However, the Turkish government has denied this and said that the country's judiciary is independent.
Erdogan Working Against Democracy
Critics, including Western nations, human rights organisations, and the CHP, contend that the actions against Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoglu are undemocratic and intended to hinder the opposition's electoral chances. İmamoglu and the CHP maintain a lack of concrete evidence supporting the charges. Recent polls indicate increased public support for İmamoglu following the arrests, strengthening his lead over President Erdoğan and solidifying his position as a likely key opponent in the 2028 presidential election.
Erdogan Is Going To Change The Constitution
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the formation of a legal team to draft a new constitution. While he claims the current constitution is outdated and influenced by the 1980 military coup, critics express concern that the proposed changes could extend his presidency beyond 2028, his current term's end. Erdogan has held the presidency since 2014.

"Hate speech of any kind is unacceptable, if anyone engages in it...": TMC's Kunal Ghosh on Sharmishta Panoli case

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 3 (ANI): After the Calcutta High Court rejected the interim bail plea of Social media influencer Sharmishta Panoli, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday asserted that if anyone engages in hate speech of any kind, appropriate legal action must be taken against the individual. Speaking to the media, Ghosh cleared his party's stand. 'This is entirely a legal matter. Our position is very clear -- whether it's on social media or in society at large, hate speech of any kind is unacceptable. If anyone engages in it, appropriate legal action must be taken,' he said. Earlier today, the Calcutta High Court rejected the interim bail plea of social media influencer Sharmistha Panoli. Her lawyer, Md Samimuddin, said that the HC has directed the police to produce the case diary so that the 'bail hearing can be held on June 5.' Speaking to ANI, Samimuddin mentioned that the HC also instructed authorities to ensure proper amenities are provided to her in the correctional home and barred the filing of any fresh FIRs against her. 'The High Court has directed the state to produce the case diary so that the bail hearing can be held on the 5th. It also instructed the state to ensure that basic amenities, which are currently lacking in the correctional home, are provided to her. Furthermore, the court stated that no fresh FIR should be filed for the same cause of action, and we are hopeful of getting bail on the 5th,' he said. A 22-year-old law student from Pune, Sharmistha Panoli, was arrested by Kolkata Police in Gurugram on Friday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with a video on Operation Sindoor. The Instagram clip was reportedly derogatory towards a particular religion. However, Panoli had deleted the video and issued an apology on May 15. On Saturday, Panoli was produced before the Alipore Court in Kolkata, which remanded her in judicial custody for 14 days. (ANI)

Joe Biden's Daughter Slams 'Untrue' Claims On Ex-US President's Health: 'Damn Disrespectful'

Last Updated: Ashely Biden captioned the post with a message: 'Too grateful to be angry about all the bulls**t." Ashley Biden, daughter of former US President Joe Biden, hit back at recent reports about her father's mental and physical health, calling the claims 'DAMN disrespectful and untrue." In an Instagram post, Ashley Biden posted a photo of herself with her parents, Joe and Jill Biden, at the beach. She captioned the post with a message: 'Too grateful to be angry about all the bulls**t," adding, 'This family's only coverup is a beach coverup." Ashley Biden's comments come amid speculation about the former president's health, particularly in the wake of books such as Original Sin. Rejecting the claims, Ashley Biden wrote, 'He aged, YES! As we all do! And the stress of the presidency accelerates. But he was always MORE than capable of doing the job. And a damn good one." Ashley Biden took aim at what she called 'recent noise from fake news" accusing some in the media of pushing false narratives for profit. She wrote, 'The noise is so DAMN disrespectful and untrue… created by those committed to perpetuating and profiting from some real BS. Get lost with your fake news and anonymous sources." Ashley also thanked the public for the outpouring of support following her father's recent prostate cancer diagnosis. Her comments follow a similar rebuke from Joe Biden's granddaughter Naomi Biden, who criticized Original Sin in a post on X (formerly Twitter), calling the book 'political fairy smut" written by 'irresponsible self-promoting journalists." Adani considers entering airport ground handling bids after Celebi's exit

Billionaire Gautam Adani's conglomerate is considering bidding for ground handling services at two airports, as it looks to diversify into a new line of business after India shut out Turkish operator Celebi Hava Servisi AS. Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. is 'evaluating' bids for the airports in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Chief Executive Officer Arun Bansal said on the sidelines of an aviation industry event in New Delhi. A closely held unit of the flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd., it operates eight Indian airports including these two and an upcoming facility in Navi Mumbai. The foray aligns with the ports-to-power conglomerate's strategy of branching into allied sectors that dovetail with its existing businesses. It also fills a gap left by Celebi's sudden exit last month after India's civil aviation security agency revoked its security clearance on grounds related to national security. Celebi operated at nine airports in India, including gateway facilities in capital New Delhi and the commercial hub of Mumbai. Its operations were halted after Turkey voiced support for Pakistan during its recent armed conflict with India. Adani, if it wins the bids for Mumbai and Ahmedabad, will be the third ground handler at these facilities. Indian regulations require that every major airport with annual passenger traffic of at least a million should have three ground handlers. The country's aviation industry is seen booming in the coming years, with continuing investments from major airlines and infrastructure buildout by the government. India, which has over 140 operational airports, plans to more than double it to 350 by 2047.
