Mark Clayton says Hall of Fame is 'overlooking' legendary Dolphins WR duo
In that same season, Marino shattered league passing records, while Clayton finished with 73 receptions for 1,389 yards in just 15 games. In an appearance on The Fins Faithful Podcast on Monday night, Clayton reflected on his prolific years with the Dolphins, which included a trip to the Super Bowl.
But in spite his strong numbers, Clayton hasn't earned a spot in Canton, Ohio. His career totals -- 582 receptions, 8,974 receiving yards, and 84 touchdowns -- are comparable to, or better than, those of several current Hall of Fame inductees.
'Danny [Marino] is the only quarterback in the Pro Football Hall of Fame who doesn't have someone he threw to in the Hall with him," Clayton said. "Whether it's a running back, a tight end, or a receiver, he has none.
'I think I've been penalized -- myself and Duper have been penalized -- for playing with Dan. But they don't penalize the other receivers who played with great quarterbacks. I think they're overlooking what we brought to the table. And if they haven't done that to other receivers, then they shouldn't be doing it to us just because we played with a great quarterback.'
Clayton, 64, is now only eligible to reach the Hall of Fame as a senior nominee and has been in consideration for induction in recent years.
The five-time Pro Bowler led the NFL in touchdown receptions in both 1984 and 1988, and has career figures comparable to inductees like Harold Carmichael, Cliff Branch, John Stallworth, Drew Pearson, and Lynn Swann.

Congratulations Pouring In For Former NFL Star Colin Kaepernick
Congratulations Pouring In For Former NFL Star Colin Kaepernick originally appeared on The Spun. Colin Kaepernick hasn't received an NFL contract for the 2025 season, but congratulations are in order for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Prior to his fallout in 2016, Kaepernick had a fairly successful run with the 49ers. He led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2012 season and set a single-game record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in his postseason debut against the Green Bay Packers. The former second-round pick from Nevada finished his NFL career with 12,271 passing yards, 2,300 rushing yards and 85 total touchdowns. Off the field, Kaepernick has been with radio personality Nessa Diab since 2015. They welcomed their first child together in August of 2022. "I thought long and hard about sharing our life changing news today. I decided to do so because today is the first day in a few weeks where I stepped out for work with a new life title—MOM," Diab wrote on Instagram. "Colin and I welcomed our amazing baby to the world a few weeks ago and we are over the moon with our growing family." Earlier this week, Diab shocked the world when she revealed that she's been married to Kaepernick for a few years. NFL fans were unaware of that. That being said, NFL fans are wishing Kaepernick and Diab all the best. "Congrats! Former 49ers star QB Colin Kaepernick got married to his longtime girlfriend, TV host Nessa. The beautiful couple have been together for over 10 years now and have one child together. Colin still trains every day to make his NFL return," content creator Dov Kleiman wrote on X. "Congratulations to the Kaepernick's," one fan said. "Congrats," a second fan wrote. "Now how about a contract with the UFL?" "Good for him," a social media user commented. Diab soft-launched her marriage in July when she said this in an Instagram video: "I'm not Colin's girlfriend or roommate or whatever — I'm his wife." Now that all the rumors have been put to rest, Diab and Kaepernick can enjoy married life in peace. Congratulations Pouring In For Former NFL Star Colin Kaepernick first appeared on The Spun on Aug 7, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

WNBA Fan arrested for sex toy toss allegedly made ‘viral joke' confession to police
The post WNBA Fan arrested for sex toy toss allegedly made 'viral joke' confession to police appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Golden State Valkyries, in their debut season in the WNBA, have had plenty of positives to take away already. Head coach Natalie Nakase is firmly in conversation for the WNBA Coach of the Year with the Valkyries currently boasting of a 14-14 record. However, there has been plenty of bizarre incidents occuring as well. The most prominent among them occurred when a fan seemingly threw a sex toy on court during the fourth quarter of the game against the Atlanta Dream, leading to the arrest of one Delbert Carver. Carver was taken into custody and booked at the Clayton County Jail at 7:42 PM on Saturday before being released on bond late Sunday, per ESPN. The 23-year-old had allegedly thrown a green sex toy on the court on which the broadcast camera zoomed in before quickly switching away. Delbert has been charged with disorderly conduct and allegedly told the police that 'this was supposed to be a joke and this joke [was] supposed to go viral.' The Valkyries have not yet commented on the situation. 'The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans,' the WNBA wrote in a statement. It further read that any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will face immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and will be subject to 'arrest and prosecution by local authorities.' A similar incident had occured during the Valkyries' game against the Chicago Sky. However, Chicago Police claimed that there was no 'call of service' for that particular incident. The Valkyries will now face the Las Vegas Aces at the Chase Center on August 6.
