2026 GMC Yukon Review, Pricing, and Specs
The GMC Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL are essentially upmarket replicas of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. All four full-size SUVs have the same underpinnings (including a ride-enhancing independent rear suspension), all can seat up to eight people (and their gear), and all can be had with one of two powerful V-8s or a torque-happy diesel inline-six.
The Yukon twins demand a premium, though, for their luxe materials and amenity-filled feature lists. The Denali Ultimate trim even approaches the swankiness of the Cadillac Escalade(which is yet another three-row GM SUV built on this platform).
Expert Tip: We recommend driving a Tahoe and Yukon back-to-back to see which is right for you. Even if you struggle to see a difference in ride quality, you're bound to form an opinion on the two infotainment systems (with the Chevy sporting a 17.7-inch horizontal display and the GMC using a 16.8-inch vertical screen).
What's New for 2026?
The GMC Yukon received several updates last year, so it should carry over into 2026 unchanged.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Unless you're transporting VIPs, we think the Elevation trim is the model that makes the most sense. Of course, for folks who need to reach a remote cabin or who plan to go off-roading, the AT4 is the better choice.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Engines: 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 (standard); 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 (optional); 305-hp diesel 3.0-liter inline-six (optional)
355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 (standard); 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 (optional); 305-hp diesel 3.0-liter inline-six (optional) Transmission: 10-speed automatic
10-speed automatic Drivetrains: rear-wheel drive; four-wheel drive
The Yukon offers a choice of two gas-fed V-8s and a diesel engine. There's a 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 that's standard on the Elevation and AT4. The Denali and Denali Ultimate have a 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, which is also available on the AT4. Moreover, every model is compatible with the diesel 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. While all three powertrains are capable, we like the diesel best for its ability to provide low-end torque while sipping fuel. It's well suited to the Yukon's mission and heft.
All Yukon models have a 10-speed automatic transmission with a steering-column shifter, and shoppers get to choose between rear- and four-wheel drive. The off-road-oriented AT4 model features a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an optional air suspension capable of providing up to two more inches of ground clearance.
0–60-MPH Times
C/D 60-mph Test: 6.0 seconds (6.2-liter V-8 Denali)
In Comparison: When we tested a Denali model with the 6.2-liter V-8, we recorded a 6.0-second 60-mph time and noted significantly improved braking performance versus the previous-generation model. We haven't performed an instrumented test on a diesel-powered Yukon, but we did test a Tahoe with that powertrain, and it recorded a 7.8-second run to 60 mph.

Towing and Payload Capacity
On paper, the lineup's towing champ is the rear-wheel-drive Yukon with the 5.3-liter V-8. It's rated for 8400 pounds, whereas models with the 6.2-liter V-8 or diesel max out at 8200 pounds. That said, the diesel engine provides peak torque below 2000 rpm, which is a boon for towing; the V-8s produce the most grunt higher up in the rev range. Opting for four-wheel drive drops the tow ratings by 200 pounds across the board.
Numerous tech features help with trailering, too, including GMC's transparent trailer view that virtually removes the physical trailer from the camera view, allowing you to see stationary objects behind it. There's also a jackknife alert that aims to help you avoid making that particular mistake.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
C/D 75-mph Highway Fuel-Economy Test: 20 mpg (6.2-liter V-8 Denali)
20 mpg (6.2-liter V-8 Denali) EPA City Ratings: 14-21 mpg
14-21 mpg EPA Highway Ratings: 18-26 mpg
The EPA hasn't released fuel-economy information for the 2026 GMC Yukon yet, but the 2025 model earns ratings of, at best, 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. That's for a two-wheel-drive diesel-powered Yukon or Yukon XL. The least efficient model—with estimates of 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway—boasts four-wheel drive and the 6.2-liter V-8.
On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, our 2021 Denali test vehicle with the 6.2-liter engine delivered 20 mpg. The last Tahoe we tested with the diesel engine returned an impressive 27 mpg. We anticipate a similar result for the diesel Yukon. For more information about the Yukon's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: Denali models offer open-pore wood trim with laser-etched topographical patterns and chrome accents. The Denali also includes 16-way power-adjustable front seats with heated, ventilated, and massaging cushions.
Second Row: Both the Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL offer seating for up to eight passengers, although ordering the popular and comfortable second-row captain's chairs lowers the total capacity to seven. The fanciest second-row seats have speakers in the headrests, which are part of the 22-speaker Bose sound system.
Third Row: The third row is adult-friendly, with a decent amount of legroom.
Cargo Capacity: Cargo space is generous, especially in the larger XL model. It offers a whopping 145 cubic feet of cargo space with all of the seats stowed; the regular Yukon has up to 133 cubes of cargo room. In C/D testing, the standard-length Yukon provided enough space for six carry-on cases behind its third-row seats. With the third and second rows stowed, we fit 35.

16.8-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility Audio Systems: 10-speaker Bose stereo (standard); 18-speaker Bose stereo (optional); 22-speaker Bose stereo (optional)
Every Yukon has a vertically oriented 16.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It features Google Built-in software that provides access to countless applications. Along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, it has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Buyers can spec a rear-seat entertainment system and/or an 8.0-inch touchscreen that lets second-row riders adjust the climate settings.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
GMC provides only basic driver-assistance features, forcing buyers to pay extra for more advanced ones. Night vision with thermal object detection is extra, as is GM's vaunted Super Cruise hands-free driving mode.
Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning

No points or pressure: How Sauber is supporting Gabriel Bortoleto's rookie F1 season
In terms of points on the board – which convert into dollars in the coffers once Formula 1's prize funds are dished out – Gabriel Bortoleto has yet to deliver on his considerable early promise. Only two other drivers – Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto – are also on zero points and neither of them has driven the full season. So it would be easy for a casual viewer to look at the 20 points accrued so far by Bortoleto's team-mate Nico Hulkenberg and conclude that the German veteran was doing a better job. Bortoleto counts himself among the members of Hulkenberg's fan club. Advertisement 'He's taking out of the car more than he actually should be,' said Bortoleto after the Canadian Grand Prix. 'I think he's an excellent driver. And I really admire everything he's doing – because I think it's impressive.' In certain other teams struggling to maximise their points take from races, you might reasonably expect reports to emerge of replacement drivers being teed up – especially with the summer break around the corner. But Sauber is a team which is building towards something better, after recent bouts of boardroom turbulence, as it prepares to adopt the identity of Audi's factory team from next year. The impression is one of a team which has identified solutions to many of its problems and is working its way through them methodically – and is encouraging Bortoleto to do the same. Although Hulkenberg scored his first points of the year in the season-opener in Australia, that was chiefly a factor of him being among those who changed to the intermediate tyre at what proved to be the right moment. Subsequent races demonstrated this was an outlier result and it became clear the C45 was suffering chronic airflow separation when running in 'dirty air' behind other cars. Nico Hulkenberg, Kick Sauber, Gabriel Bortoleto, Kick Sauber Nico Hulkenberg, Kick Sauber, Gabriel Bortoleto, Kick Sauber In China, Bortoleto alluded not only to loss of downforce in traffic but also severe buffeting around his head and neck which made it difficult to drive. Advertisement 'One of the easiest tracks to overtake of the season and it's just so tough,' he lamented. 'I cannot be too close to the car ahead. 'I lose downforce. I just cannot follow very close, and then it's impossible to overtake.' Rather than blame the car's shortcomings on one or both drivers, Sauber focused on finding a 'fix' – and brought a substantial upgrade package to the Spanish GP, based on a new floor but also including a new front wing and revisions around the engine cover, as well as the so-called 'Coke bottle' area of bodywork inboard of the rear wheels. During the FIA-mandated 'show and tell' session that weekend, sporting director Inaki Rueda made it very clear the point of the upgrade was better driveability rather than more peak downforce. "It's very common that as you put downforce on, you get a more peaky profile," Rueda explained. "So you usually get to a point that you get a car that is decent, let's say, but is undriveable in tricky conditions. It is a point that was highlighted at the start of the season, on our first test with this car. And this is hopefully the fix for that." In the races that followed, though, Hulkenberg was the driver who performed better on race day and that is another area where both Bortoleto and the team are aware of where the shortcomings lie – and how to fix them. Advertisement When team boss Mattia Binotto chose Bortoleto over Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu last year, it was clear he believed the F2 champion would be an upgrade in terms of speed. That's certainly been true in qualifying, where Bortoleto has beaten Hulkenberg – himself a qualifier of great repute – more than once. Gabriel Bortoleto, Sauber Gabriel Bortoleto, Sauber Sunday execution has been the issue – such as spinning in the wet in Australia, getting the start wrong in Japan, being mugged by Fernando Alonso after the safety car in Spain. All of these feed into experience – that horrible word 'learnings' – and Bortoleto has demonstrated his eagerness to learn, even flying to the factory between Japan and Bahrain to debrief with Binotto. Advertisement What he's perhaps lacking at the moment is the deep-seated confidence born of experience which Hulkenberg has. The German's recent stand-out results, in Spain and Canada, were built on establishing track position on the opening lap. In Montreal, for instance, Hulkenberg read the situation between Franco Colapinto and Alex Albon developing ahead of him and positioned his car to take maximum benefit from what happened next: Albon going off-track, and Colapinto's assertive line into the corner compromising his exit. A driver of Hulkenberg's experience can see an opportunity such as this much further in advance and anticipate how best to seize the moment. Read Also: Sauber's "pinch yourself moment" after Nico Hulkenberg beats Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari Advertisement In Spain, Bortoleto outqualified Hulkenberg but didn't maximise his 'take' on the opening lap. He might still have been on for points his one-stop strategy didn't pay off thanks to the timing of the safety car – and neither the strategy nor the full-course yellow were his doing. 'You see the race in a different way – that I'm not able yet to see,' said Bortoleto of his experience deficit relative to Hulkenberg. 'I think he's very good at doing this. So I think I'm learning from him. Hopefully I can do the same steps he's doing right now and start scoring some points for the team.' Calm heads prevail at Sauber these days and one thing you can be certain of is that Bortoleto will get the time and support he needs. To read more articles visit our website.

History: Recessions Trump Low Interest Rates For Car And Home Sales
Car Dealer Economists are worried about recession, with an average estimate of 45% probability that one will begin in the next 12 months, according to the Wall Street Journal's recent survey. The Federal Reserve would certainly cut interest rates if that happened, as emphasized by Chair Jerome Powell's recent comments that data will drive the Fed's upcoming decisions. Interest-sensitive business might be wondering if a recession would actually help them by lowering interest rates. Stimulating spending in the interest-sensitive parts of the economy is a key element of monetary policy in a recession. The historical data are disappointing, though. Spending drops in recessions, even in interest-sensitive sectors. Looking at two key sectors in detail, it's clear that business contingency planning should focus on the downside risk of recession rather than the upside from falling interest rates. This conclusion is driven by studying two sectors of the economy: car sales, new home sales and private non-residential construction. Many of the country's recessions were triggered by rising interest rates as the Fed tried to fight inflation. Those downturns occurred in 1970, 1973-75, 1980 and 1981-82. In all of these cases, car sales and home sales had dropped well before the recessions. In fact, the interest-sensitive sectors pulled the economy down in these slumps. When the Fed cut interest rates to fight those recessions, sales in both sectors revived partially, but the recessions themselves hurt activity. Two of the more recent recessions offer better lessons. Car sales began to fall in late 1989 just after interest rates hit their peak for that cycle. Sales slumped more even as interest rates fell, then slowly regained ground as the downturn fell farther into the past. The recession of 1990 played a larger role than interest rates movements. The economy went into recession again in 2001, frequently attributed to the end of Y2K spending and the dot-com bust. Auto sales were roughly flat even though the Fed cut its benchmark interest rate from 6.5% to 1.75%. That enabled automakers to offer zero percent financing (making up the difference between market interest and zero). There was no real decline in sales in this recession, possibly because of that sharp interest rate cut. But certainly car dealers had no boost to sales from the lower interest rates. New home sales in these two recessions did improve as interest rates fell, but the recession still had an impact. The data show that home sales would have been better if the recession had not occurred. The 'Great Recession' of 2008-09 was very severe. Interest were cut to near zero percent (for short maturities). But new automobile sales took four years to regain their pre-recession level even with interest rates of approximately nil. Home sales in this era do not tell a recession-and-interest rate story. Rather, the boom in new construction in the years preceding the recession swamped the market with excess housing. It took years before new home sales recovered. In fact, they have not yet regained the peak level of 2005 despite 20 years having elapsed. The most recent recession occurred with the pandemic. The economy peaked in February 2020, then hit its trough just two months later. Auto sales dropped sharply in the lock-down days, then recovered with some make-up sales. The Fed cut interest rates sharply in the pandemic, but sales remained low for two years. Supply chain disruptions, including computer chip shortages, may explain some limitation of sales. New home sales did surge with low interest rates, rising well above the pre-pandemic trend line. There's no doubt that low financing costs helped sales. Many apartment renters who had wanted to buy a house calculated their borrowing cost at the low interest rates and went shopping well before they otherwise would have been able to at the old interest rates. The weight of evidence, despite the post-pandemic home sales rally, is that recessions trump low interest rates. Business plans should certainly take into account the mitigating effects of lower interest rates during recessions, but there's no justification for anticipating higher sales, not even in the most interest-sensitive parts of the economy.

'He's Alienated The Wrong People' — Scott Galloway Blames Musk's Politics For Tesla's Fall From 8th To 95th In U.S. Brand Rankings
"He's alienated the wrong people," marketing professor Scott Galloway said recently, blaming Elon Musk for Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) brand slide. Galloway argued on the "Pivot" podcast that politics, not products, now steer the automaker after a string of rough quarters and mounting protests. Tesla ranked No. 95 in the latest Axios Harris Poll 100, down from No. 8 in 2021, Axios said. The brand stood at No. 42 in 2019 and No. 63 last year, underscoring a steady drift before the latest plunge. Sister companies SpaceX and X also landed at No. 86 and No. 98 respectively — a sign that the reputational chill is hitting all corners of his empire. Don't Miss: Named a TIME Best Invention and Backed by 5,000+ Users, Kara's Air-to-Water Pod Cuts Plastic and Costs — GoSun's Breakthrough Rooftop EV Charger Already Has 2,000+ Units Reserved — Financials mirror the fall. In its Q1 earnings report in April, Tesla said net income slumped 71%, automotive revenue slid 20%, and free cash flow turned positive, reaching $664 million. "Tesla was a great brand," Galloway said. He called the downturn, "one of the greatest brand destruction." He added, "the rivers have reversed, and the tide has turned entirely against them," referring to Musk's political alignment and its impact on Tesla's reputation. Musk steered almost $300 million to President Donald Trump–aligned committees while advising the White House's Department of Government Efficiency, angering early EV adopters who skew liberal. "3/4 of Republicans would never consider buying an EV," Galloway said. "He's cozied up to the people who aren't interested in EVs." Pushback soon spilled onto the streets. A March fire at a Tesla showroom in Rome destroyed 17 cars. Activists organized "Tesla Takedown" rallies in Berlin, Stockholm and San Francisco in April. Tesla's global sustainability lead canceled a Rome conference appearance over security concerns as vandalism cases multiplied. Trending: Invest early in CancerVax's breakthrough tech aiming to disrupt a $231B market. Musk said in May he was returning full time to his companies, posting on X, "Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms." He said his round-the-clock shift would center on X, xAI, Tesla and a May 27 Starship launch. During last month's Qatar Economic Forum, Musk said he would "do a lot less" political spending because "I think I've done enough." He added that he planned to stay Tesla's CEO for at least five years. Investor confidence in Tesla has increasingly hinged on the recent launch of its robotaxi pilot—launched last month in Austin, Texas—and consistent Model Y deliveries. Both developments will be critical indicators for investors. Read Next: Maximize saving for your retirement and cut down on taxes: Image: Shutterstock UNLOCKED: 5 NEW TRADES EVERY WEEK.
