World's best airline launches more flights from the UK to ‘affordable luxury' holiday hotspot

MORE flights are launching from the UK on an airline named the best in the world.
Qatar Airways was once again named the world's best airline in this year's Skytrax awards, dubbed the Aviation Oscars.

And despite already having flights from Manchester and London Heathrow, it has revealed that even more are launching.
Connecting the UK to the Qatar capital of Doha, London Heathrow will get an extra two flights a day, taking it from eight to 10.
And Manchester will go from 21 weekly flights to 24.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Thierry Antinori, said: 'Qatar Airways is consistently witnessing a steady rise in demand for our 5-star services to some of the most prominent destinations in the world, most notably for London, Dublin, Cape Town, and São Paulo. "
The airline's huge new winter expansion also includes the launch of flights from Melbourne to Doha in collaboration with Qatar Airways, as well as restart flights to Canberra.
Madrid, Frankfurt, Berlin and Dublin will also be getting more flights.
The UK flights to Doha take around eight hours, and is often used as a stopover for longer flights to Asia and Australia.
However, Doha is fast becoming an alternative holiday hotspot for Brits who want affordable, five star luxury.
Presenter Josie Gibson previously raved about Doha, telling Sun Travel: "I was really taken back by Doha, they had some of the best hotels I've ever been to.
"In London, they'd be something like £1,000 a night, but in Doha, you're only looking at £200 - it's very much a cheap luxury."

This was even backed by The Sun's Assistant Travel Editor, Sophie Swietochowski, who recently visited.
She said: "Doha Beach Club is less than a 20-minute drive from the airport and bang in the centre of the city with views of glimmering skyscrapers from the white sands.
"Entry prices vary, but mid-week and during off-peak times, such as Ramadan, you can gain access for just £6, or ladies can visit for free on a Tuesday."
Not only that, but Doha's Hamad International Airport is also named one of the best in the world.

What is it like flying with Qatar Airways?
The Sun's Assistant Travel Editor Sophie Swietochowski tried out the airline's economy cabin.
"Economy seats in Qatar Airways' newer aircrafts feel much roomier than those on other airlines I've travelled with.
"The design is sleek and stylish and there are conveniently-placed USB ports for charging your devices, but that's not what makes the carrier standout.
"For me, the highlight of flying Qatar Airways is the service - staff are diligent and eager to please, ensuring that you're well looked after and refreshed throughout the journey.
And Sun Travel's Deputy Editor Kara Godfrey reviewed Qatar Airways' business class Qsuite.
"I was lucky enough to recently be invited onboard with Qatar Airways, to try out their Qsuite Business Class - and I'm not sure how I will ever go back to economy.
"Feeling more like First Class, it often dominates other airlines when it comes to awards and the Qsuite felt like a hotel on a plane - having its very own private door you can close.
"Along with the high walls around you, it felt like you were in a little bedroom, where no one can see inside.
"Despite nearly seven hours on a plane, I didn't want it to be over, and was almost sad to be arriving in Doha."
