Ryan Reynolds puts family first as he confirms career move

Yahoo2 days ago

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed an exciting career move, and spoken about why it was important to him and his children. The actor, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle with his wife Blake Lively's former co-star Justin Baldoni, will be providing the voice-over for Underdogs, a new Disney+ documentary.
Speaking about the show, Ryan explained: "Getting to work with National Geographic on Underdogs was a dream come true – mostly because I can finally watch a project of ours with my children.
"Technically, they saw Deadpool & Wolverine but I don't think they absorbed much while covering their eyes and ears and screaming for two hours. We're so proud to elevate the unsung heroes of the natural world to the top of the entertainment food chain and can't wait for everyone to see."
The five-part series looks at different aspects of the 'underdogs' of nature, including their "bizarre mating strategies, surprising superpowers, deception, dubious parenting skills and gross-out behaviours".
The synopsis reveals that there are never-before-filmed scenes from the animal kingdom, including "the first time a film crew has ever entered a special cave in New Zealand – a huge cavern that glows brighter than a bachelor pad under a black light thanks to the glowing butts of millions of mucus-coated grubs".
It concludes: "All over the world, overlooked superstars like this are out there 24/7, giving it maximum effort and keeping the natural world in working order for all those showboating polar bears, sharks and gorillas."
Ryan's wife Blake also shared the news of his project, posting on her Instagram stories: "The older we get, the more we work to make our kids proud. Which is exactly why @vancityreynolds is carrying the 'shows you can watch as a family' torch with @underdogsnatgeo.
"I couldn't be more proud of producer @sophiatravaglia for making this little idea that could a reality. From ideation, to camping out in the bush with these sweet creatures, to narration sessions, to marketing... to today. The dream producer. The dream team."

Chicago TV Anchor's Husband Dies at 42 After Brain Cancer Diagnosis: 'Forever in Our Hearts'

Nicholas 'Nick' Adamski, the husband of ABC 7 Chicago Traffic Anchor Diane Pathieu, has died at age 42 Adamski had been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer in December 2020, after a seizure led to him being rushed to the hospital 'He was a man who served others, uplifted everyone he met and never stopped smiling — even through the hardest days," Pathieu said of Adamski following his death Tuesday, May 27A Chicago TV news anchor's husband has died at just 42 years old after being diagnosed in recent years with brain cancer. Diane Pathieu, an ABC 7 Chicago traffic anchor, said that her husband, Nicholas 'Nick' Adamski, died in hospice on Tuesday, May 27, per ABC 7. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in 2020. Pathieu shared a black-and-white photograph of Adamski on Instagram alongside a heartfelt message to announce his death. It came just days after a post revealing her plans to take time away from social media to focus on caring for him. 'My angel, Nicholas 'Nick' Adamski, has gained his wings. He was surrounded by love and peace,' Pathieu wrote in the caption of her announcement. 'Firefighter. Husband. Advocate. Hero." 'Nick faced stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer with unmatched courage, grace and an unshakable belief in PMA — Positive Mental Attitude,' she continued. 'He was a man who served others, uplifted everyone he met and never stopped smiling — even through the hardest days." 'Forever in our hearts. I love you for always, sweetheart,' Pathieu concluded. 'Keep that PMA. Love hard. Help others. And never, ever give up, and as Nick would say, 'Peace and veggie grease.' ' The comment section of the post was flooded with messages from people sharing their condolences. Before being diagnosed with brain cancer on Dec. 21, 2020, Adamski was a beloved member of the Milwaukee Fire Department and was awarded the Medal of Valor for saving an infant from a fire, ABC 7 reported. Adamski previously recounted that he was diagnosed after a seizure caused him to collapse just before Christmas in 2020. He was rushed to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with cancer despite having previously had no symptoms. "The only thing I remember is my right leg going up and shaking everything," Adamski said, per ABC 7. "After that, I couldn't tell you anything." He was given slightly over a year to live, even once he began treatment for the 'aggressive' disease that is the most common type of malignant brain tumor in adults. As he continued to defy the odds throughout the years, the former firefighter became an advocate for hope with his signature message of 'PMA: Positive Mental Attitude' amid his treatment for the disease, per the outlet. Pathieu joined her husband in being a speaker at the annual Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute Minds Matter event in 2023, with the aim of fundraising for brain cancer. Photos from the event shared on Facebook and Instagram appeared to show them in good spirits. Following Adamski's death this week, the American Brain Tumor Association referenced Pathieu's Instagram tribute to him alongside a photo of the couple shared on their Facebook page. 'We are deeply saddened by the passing of Nicholas 'Nick' Adamski, beloved husband of ABC7 Chicago's Diane Pathieu,' the group wrote. 'A devoted firefighter, fierce advocate, and GBM warrior, Nick faced grade 4 glioblastoma with extraordinary courage, grace, and his signature PMA—Positive Mental Attitude. 💙 'Through every challenge, Nick never stopped smiling. He served others, inspired hope, and uplifted everyone around him,' the ABTA added. 'His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him—and in the countless lives he touched. 'To Diane and all who loved him, the ABTA community stands with you in love and remembrance. As Nick would say: 'Peace and veggie grease,' ' they said, echoing Pathieu's post. I got engaged at Disney World! Here's some magical tips to keep in mind

I got engaged at Disney World! Here's some magical tips to keep in mind Here's what you should know before you propose at the most magical place on Earth. Show Caption Hide Caption Disney launches new Florida resident ticket deal Walt Disney World has announced the launch of a new ticket deal for Florida residents just in time for the summer. Fox - 35 Orlando As a little girl, I always dreamed about what it would be like to be proposed to in front of Cinderella castle, and I know I'm not the only one. So here's a former Disney World photographer's guide on how to propose to your Disney princess or prince in the most magical place on Earth. For many Disney adults, Disney World, specifically Magic Kingdom, is the epitome of a fairytale come to life. So it's no wonder that so many, including myself, dreamed about what it would be like to have the love of their life propose to them at their favorite place on earth. As someone who used to be a Photopass photographer at the Magic Kingdom and, more recently, as someone who got engaged in the Magic Kingdom, I have all sorts of tricks and tips I WISHED I could've bestowed on all the poor unfortunate souls who could've made their proposals even better. But, fear not, while I may not be a magical fairy godmother, I wrote this guide to make sure your favorite Mouseketeer has the engagement of their dreams. Please tell your photographers before you pop the question While it's a wonderful surprise, your photographer shouldn't be the one you're surprising! Warn the photographer and let them know you're going to propose, or have someone in your party do so. This way, the photographer can mentally prepare for what's about to happen and plan out the poses and shots they want to take. Photographers can also make the moment even more magical by taking Magic Shots, which is a photo that is digitally-enhanced to include Disney characters, balloons or famous Disney snacks and more. Additionally, if the photographer has the time, they can take you to other locations in the park near their station. More Disney news: Disney World reveals start date for new Disney Starlight nighttime parade Prepare for the heat As a Miami native, I'm no stranger to the heat. However, something about Orlando's heat and humidity is significantly worse than anywhere in South Florida. We ended up having to leave the park right after he proposed because I wasn't feeling well, and the heat was getting to me despite the copious amounts of water I was drinking. To avoid any of these issues, I would suggest doing the following: Propose first thing in the morning when you get to the park. Take a break at the hotel when temperatures are at their highest and propose when you come back refreshed and ready. Sunsets at the parks are always gorgeous and look great in photos. Bring a change of clothing if your partner is the kind of person who likes to stay at the park from open to close. Finally, don't forget to pack the following: Sunscreen Sun protection, like baseball caps Portable fans Cooling towels Water bottles Photo ops Photopass photographers are stationed all over the Walt Disney World Parks. Many are stationed in front of the castle, but you can find photographers in front of the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Belle's castle. For $99, guests can also sign up for a private, 20-minute session called Capture Your Moment, where photopass photographers will follow you around the park and conduct your own personal photoshoot. Sessions booked between May 26 and September 1 will receive a $20 discount, according to Disney World's website. Capture your moment can be booked at the following parks: Animal Kingdom EPCOT Hollywood Studios Magic Kingdom Don't bring the real ring One of the brilliant things my fiancé did was that he didn't bring my actual ring to the parks! I'm a very clumsy person, and I lose almost anything, so I know I would've been petrified to carry around my actual ring. So, instead, my darling fiancé proposed to me with a $20 ring featuring a heart-shaped moonstone in the center, which he purchased on Amazon. It was the only ring I wore throughout the engagement, and I was so proud to show it off whenever I told a cast member we were engaged. Additionally, I was able to wander throughout the park and ride the attractions without worrying that I might lose my very expensive engagement ring. Don't just propose in front of the castle Personalize your engagement! A castle proposal isn't the end-all be-all of Disney proposals. Tailor your engagement to what your fiancée likes about Disney. You can propose just about anywhere! You can even propose during a hot air balloon ride at Disney Springs, but make sure to have a backup plan in case it's shut down. And they lived happily ever after... Be sure that this is the kind of proposal your partner wants! There are always people around the parks, and proposals, especially the ones that take place on Main Street U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, which is the street that leads to the famous castle, tend to draw an audience. But, as long as you've done your homework and made sure this is what your partner wants, your Beloved is sure to adore the proposal no matter what. So here's to you and your future happily ever after! Good luck! Julia is a trending reporter for USA TODAY. Justin Bieber has had a pretty rough couple weeks thanks to alllll that drama over Hailey Bieber's Vogue cover, but it looks like he's fully relaxed and in vacation mode. The "Baby" singer hopped on Instagram to share pics from a recent trip, including one of his son Jack riding on his shoulders. And before you ask: Hailey isn't in this latest round of pics—but she did like them, so no need to read into things! Plus, she's in these photos seemingly from the same trip: Justin's vacation comes amid a source spilling about his and Hailey's relationship to the Daily Mail following the singer's Vogue caption drama. "Justin and Hailey get into fights, and Justin goes for the low hanging fruit to try to win arguments, to make Hailey feel bad, and it works," they said. "As much as they are in love, there are plenty of times that they are at each other's throats. Hailey has been mad at him plenty of times, and it will happen again and again. She comes around and forgives him. She will let him do what he needs to do and will accept his apology. The Justin we see now is the Justin that Hailey has seen all along, and she feels like she can always fix him. Good or bad, it is a never ending circle." The insider also dramatically added that "Justin and Hailey treat their relationship like Romeo and Juliet—without the morbid ending. They love hard, they fight hard, and drama often fuels their every move."
