Four Alabama players named to AP 2025 preseason All-America Team
Ryan Williams is a sophomore who took college football by storm last year. He had 48 receptions, 865 yards, and eight touchdowns. Williams is a deep threat on the outside for Ty Simpson and the Alabama offense.
Kadyn Proctor is a massive 6'7 366 lb. left tackle. He will be protecting Ty Simpson's blind side and is a top 10 draft pick according to ESPN's 2026 NFL Mock Draft.
Parker Brailsford is considered one of the nation's top centers and was recently named to the Rimington Trophy watch list given to the nation's top center. Brailsford started all 13 games for the Tide last season and had 63 knockdown blocks and gave up just 0.5 sacks.
Keenan will anchor the Tide's interior defensive line this season. Keenan recorded 40 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 2.5 sacks last season. He has been named to the Nagurski and Bednarik award watch lists, both given to the nation's top defensive player.

Sophie Cunningham thanks Fever fans after MRI injury update
After receiving news of the disastrous MRI results on her injured right knee, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham expressed on her social media platforms that she is thankful for the fans' outpouring of support as she embarks on a tough recovery into the offseason. Cunningham's injury occurred in Sunday's 99-93 OT win over the Suns when Connecticut guard Bria Hartley made contact with Cunningham's lower right leg after Hartley attempted to penetrate a double-team in the low post. Following the collision, the former Missouri guard clutched at her right knee while screaming in pain. Unfortunately for Cunningham, the injury came at a rather rude time as she had celebrated her 29th birthday the day prior. In a grateful manner, Cunningham took to her social media platforms on Tuesday to thank fans for both their birthday blessings and best wishes for a swift recovery. Cunningham, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2025 WNBA calendar year, will finish her first year with the Fever averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists per game on 46.9% shooting from the field, 43.2% from 3-point territory, and 87.5% from the free-throw line. Cunningham made 13 starts over 30 games played. The silver lining in Cunningham's injury is that she should be near or at full recovery from the injury by the start of the 2026 season, given the WNBA's lengthy offseason, which is at least seven months long. While Cunningham will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, she will still be able to provide energy from the bench as the Fever make a late-season push towards the 2025 WNBA Playoffs. Short-handed Indiana Fever suffer another blow as Sophie Cunningham sustains season-ending injury
INDIANAPOLIS — The injury-riddled Indiana Fever suffered another blow Tuesday when they announced guard Sophie Cunningham would miss the rest of this season with a knee injury. She was hurt during Sunday's victory at Connecticut. Team officials did not provide details about the injury, the third season-ending one Indiana has experienced in August. Guard Sydney Colson tore the ACL in her left knee on Aug. 7 in a game at Phoenix. Guard Aari McDonald broke a bone in her right foot in the same game. And two-time All-Star guard Caitlin Clark still has not played since injuring her right groin in mid-July. Coach Stephanie White has not provided a timetable for Clark's return other than to say the Fever hope that Clark returns before the regular-season finale Sept. 9 against Minnesota. With so many key players out, the outspoken Cunningham played a key role in helping Indiana stay in the playoff mix. She was averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals. Indiana also announced it has signed Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract. The six-year veteran was averaging 5.0 points and 2.7 assists in six games with the Los Angeles Sparks. She also has played with Phoenix and Washington during her career. The Fever also released guard Kyra Lambert. Angel Reese is back with the Chicago Sky. What does that mean for the rest of the season?

Rockets Future Outlook Soars Following Kevin Durant Addition
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Houston Rockets showed plenty of growth last season. Despite having a very young roster, they won 52 regular-season games and claimed the second seed in the Western Conference. However, their inexperience, not to mention their lack of shot-making when the pace slows down, cost them in the playoffs. They ended up losing in the first round to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, and they scored no more than 93 points in three of their four losses during that series. But just weeks later, the Rockets rocked the NBA by landing future Hall of Fame forward Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns. They also added veteran 3-and-D forward Dorian Finney-Smith and veteran center Clint Capela, and many feel they have a real shot at winning it all. Kevin Durant #35 of the Phoenix Suns and Shaq's OGs looks on during 2025 NBA All-Star Practice & Media Availability at Oakland Arena on February 15, 2025 in Oakland, California. Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report recently did an article in which he gave the over/under and predicted win totals of all 30 NBA teams. The Rockets' over/under was listed at 55.5 wins, and Bailey projected them to have a 52-30 record once again. Read more: Former NBA Star Throws Shade at Rockets' Kevin Durant "It may seem silly to have the Houston Rockets winning the same number of games they did in 2024-25," Bailey wrote. "... In this Western Conference, though, getting any number of wins over 50 is going to be tough. And the Rockets presumed leading scorer, Durant, turns 37 in September. He played 75 games in 2023-24, but he's averaged just under 55 over the half-decade since returning from his ruptured Achilles. "That and a lack of high-end offensive creation beyond KD could limit Houston's chances of hitting a very high over-under." Durant is still either in his prime or close to it. He averaged 26.6 points on 52.7% overall shooting and 43% from 3-point range last season, and he appeared in 62 games after playing in 75 games during the previous season. But as Bailey noted, Houston lacks other players who can create and hit their own shot in a halfcourt setting. Center Alperen Sengun put up 19.1 points per game and made his first All-Star game this past season, but the rest of the team's roster is lacking in the shot creation category. Houston was heavily dependent on its defense to create fast-break scores during the 2024-25 campaign. When it faces an excellent defensive team come playoff time, there could be too much pressure on the greybearded Durant to bail out his mates. Read more: ESPN Personality Calls Out Knicks Star Karl-Anthony Towns The could also be plenty of pressure on Amen Thompson to develop. Thompson, who averaged 14.1 points per game last season, is thought to perhaps have some star potential, and if he busts out this fall and winter, it would greatly raise the Rockets' potential. If not, they, not to mention Durant, could be facing another early playoff exit. For more on the Rockets and general NBA news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
