Elf Beauty logs 28% annual sales surge, acquires Hailey Bieber's Rhode beauty brand

Elf Beauty announced on Wednesday net sales in the last 12 months surged 28% to $1.3 billion million, with the U.S. cosmetic retailer revealing it has purchased Hailey Bieber's Rhode beauty brand for $1 billion.
The Oakland, California-based company said annual sales were driven by growth across its retail and e-commerce channels, and gains across both U.S. and international markets.
Despite the annual sales leap, sales growth for the fourth quarter ending March 31 did soften to 4%, with sales totalling $332.6 million.
Annual net income was down to $112.1 million for fiscal 2025, slipping from $127.7 million in the prior-year period, according to Elf Beauty.
'In this dynamic environment, we continue to deliver industry-leading results. In fiscal 2025, we grew net sales 28%, gained 190 basis points of market share in the U.S. and continued our international expansion strategy,' said Tarang Amin, Elf Beauty's chairman and chief executive officer, adding the company is not providing a fiscal 2026 financial outlook at this time, due to the recent tariff uncertainty.
In a separate release on Wednesday, Elf Beauty said it has snapped up Gen Z-focused celebrity brand Rhode for $800 million, in a combination of cash and stock, and an additional potential earnout consideration of $200 million, subject to certain performance-related conditions.
The Rhode deal signals a shift in strategy for the budget beauty retailer as it looks to the prestige beauty market to combat weaker demand from its mass market cosmetics.
'We believe we have the right strategy to drive continued category-leading sales and market share growth in the years to come, and believe the acquisition of Rhode will further strengthen and diversify our portfolio of fast-growing disruptive brands," added Amin, in a release.
Bieber will continue in her role as founder of Rhode and will also act as a strategic advisor after the deal closes in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.
"Elf Beauty marks an incredible opportunity to elevate and accelerate our ability to reach more of our community with even more innovative products and widen our distribution globally," said the model-turned-entrepreneur, as part of the announcement.

UK and US buyers snap up used Rolex and Patek Philippe ahead of tariffs

Watch enthusiasts snapped up used Rolex SA and Patek Philippe SA timepieces at the end of April, splashing out before possible tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. Watch dealer and trading platform Subdial typically records a surge in activity after customers receive their end-of-month paychecks. In April, post-payday trading volume jumped 160% above normal levels—well beyond the 112% average increase seen on previous paydays over the past year. The volume growth was particularly strong in the U.S. and UK, Christy Davis, founder of London-based Subdial, said in an interview. 'People heard about the tariffs and went, 'Oh shoot, let's buy now,'' Davis said. 'They waited for payday and then sales volumes just went through the roof.' The phenomenon echoed another trend seen in Switzerland, where watch exports jumped by nearly a fifth in April — with shipments to the U.S. more than doubling ahead of expanded tariffs threatened by Trump. Watches made from precious metals, steel and bimetallic materials — products also targeted by Trump — saw the most growth, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. The U.S. jump was likely a one-off response by exporters seeking to avoid higher tariffs, rather than a structural increase in demand, Jean-Philippe Bertschy, an analyst at Vontobel, said in a note. Swiss watch exports fell 6.4% to the rest of the world in the month, continuing a weak start to the year. The secondary watch market has rebounded gradually since February's post-pandemic lows. Since reaching that nadir, the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index has risen about 5.3% through late May, returning to levels last seen in October. It remains far from the levels it reached three years ago, when prices of used luxury watches surged as Covid lockdowns ended.

Myntra obtains Rs 1,062.5 crore from parent entity amid global expansion

Online fashion retailer Myntra has secured Rs 1,062.5 crore in fresh funding from its Singapore-based parent company, FK Myntra Holdings. The capital infusion follows earlier investments of $339 million in March 2024 and $81 million in November 2024, as the platform accelerates growth. The development coincides with Myntra's international expansion through the launch of Myntra Global, a new platform designed to serve the Indian diaspora in Singapore, Apparel Resources India reported. The service offers a curated selection of fashion and Made-in-India products, marking the brand's first foray into global e-commerce. To support cross-border operations, Myntra is leveraging third-party international logistics providers to ship inventory from India to Singapore, with average delivery times ranging from four to seven expansion comes amid heightened competition in India's online apparel market, including the re-entry of Chinese fast fashion platform Shein. Despite an increasingly competitive market, Myntra posted a turnaround in the 2024 fiscal year, recording a net profit of Rs 31 crore, compared to a net loss of Rs 782 crore the previous year. Operating revenue rose by 15% year-on-year to Rs 5,122 crore, reflecting growing demand and improved operational efficiency.
