Unai Emery optimistic Youri Tielemans can feature for Aston Villa against Manchester United
Unai Emery has offered fresh optimism that Youri Tielemans can feature in Sunday's season-defining match at Old Trafford while refusing to rule out Emiliano Martinez's departure.
The Athletic revealed earlier this month that Aston Villa feared Tielemans, 28, could miss the rest of the season having sustained a calf injury.

However, Emery confirmed on Friday that the Belgium midfielder may return for the must-win match against Manchester United, when Villa need a positive result to further their Champions League aspirations.
'He trained today, the first day he trained with the group, and tomorrow, he'll train again,' said Emery, speaking in his pre-match news conference. 'If he's feeling good and comfortable, more or less, without some doubt, he will be with the team and the squad for Sunday.'
Sixth-placed Villa head to Manchester knowing they will need to beat United while relying on the teams above — Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester City — to drop points if they are to finish in the Premier League top five.
Sunday's result will greatly influence the club's transfer plans this summer, though they will need to sell before June 30 regardless to satisfy the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).
Martinez's future has been a source of speculation since the 32-year-old goalkeeper was visibly upset after Villa's final home match of the season against Tottenham Hotspur last week, with interest received from Saudi Arabia and clubs in Europe.
Emery insisted Martinez was focused on playing his part on Sunday, refusing to confirm or deny when questioned on whether the Argentina international has asked to leave.
'He showed last week against Tottenham that he's focused,' said the Villa manager. 'He's performing very well.
'Some players have some speculation but my only speculation is to play Sunday, to be ready for Sunday and to get our best performances.
'I am speaking with him to focus each match. Then the consequence is coming — if we are playing next year in the Champions League, it's for everybody, very, very important. He has a contract (until 2029) with us.'
Villa sit sixth in the league, level on points with Chelsea and Newcastle but below them on goal difference.

Son hails sacked Postecoglou as 'a Spurs legend'
Ange Postecoglou (C) sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager has transformed the club said South Korean star Son Heung-Min (Glyn KIRK) Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min said Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked as manager on Friday, had 'changed the trajectory of this club' by delivering their first silverware in 17 years. Postecoglou guided Tottenham to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final last month to clinch the club's first European prize in 41 years and secure a place in next season's Champions League. Advertisement But the 59-year-old Australian paid the price for Tottenham's worst domestic season since they were relegated from the top flight in 1976-77. Tottenham lost 22 of their 38 Premier League games to finish 17th in the table, above only relegated trio Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton. Son, though, in an effusive tribute on Instagram said Postecoglou had transformed the club. "Gaffer. You've changed the trajectory of this club," wrote Son. "You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did. "You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it's had in decades. We will have those memories for life." Advertisement Son, who has seen five managers sacked in the past six years by chairman Daniel Levy, said he had formed a close relationship with Postecoglou during his two year tenure. "You trusted me with the captaincy," said the 32-year-old Korean star. "One of the highest honours of my career. It's been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close. "I am a better player and a better person because of you. "Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate." Tottenham were ravaged by injuries and in the latter stages of the campaign Postecoglou focused on keeping his key players fit and fresh for the Europa League. Advertisement The gamble paid off but even securing Tottenham's first trophy since the 2008 League Cup was not enough to save the former Celtic handler. Brentford boss Thomas Frank, Fulham manager Marco Silva, Crystal Palace's FA Cup winning handler Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola are reportedly the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou. pi/ea

Cameroonian talent Christian Kofane passes Bayer Leverkusen medical
Sport Bild reports that 18-year-old Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane has passed his Bayer 04 Leverkusen medical. One of the Bundesliga outfit's summer transfer targets is thus set to be unveiled shortly. The teenage talent will sign five-year-contract, per the tabloid. Whereas previous reports suggested that Kofane will be immediately be loaned back out to his Spanish Segunda division club, new developments in newly appointed head coach Erik ten Hag's squad planning render it likelier that the player will remain in Germany. Advertisement The recent decision to retain the services of Czech striker Patrik Schick and shop Nigerian forward Victor Boniface for a sale leaves room for Kofane in the squad. A loan deal could nevertheless still be in the cards given that Kofane doesn't have a great deal of experience at a higher level. Germany's red company team appear set to acquire Kofane via a €5m release clause in his current contract. Leverkusen fended off several other suitors for the teenage prospect's services.
