‘Brahmos centre will be taken over by DRDO'

Time of Indiaa day ago
T'puram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the BrahMos Center in Thiruvananthapuram will be taken over by defence research and development organisation (
DRDO
). He mentioned that they received assurance from central govt regarding this matter and dismissed rumours about the center's closure as false.
BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL) is a joint venture by the Indian and Russian govts.
It will come directly under the control of DRDO, Rajeev said.
Currently, the employees there will become staff of the central defence ministry and DRDO. BATL is a significant asset for the Narendra Modi govt's vision of an '
Atmanirbhar Bharat
' (self-reliant India). Once under DRDO, the BrahMos Center will reach its full potential. The BJP chief clarified that Thiruvananthapuram centre will become a crucial hub for safeguarding the country's strategic interests.
The claims about job losses for the centre's employees are misleading news. Opposition leader V D Satheesan is merely trying to create controversy on this. He also accused the unions INTUC and AITUC of creating false reports about the centre's closure.

Russia Makes Battlefield Gains Across Ukraine, Summer Of 2025 Proves To Be Putin's Second Wind?

Last Updated: Crux Videos Russia's summer offensive in eastern Ukraine, launched back in May, is showing battlefield gains across multiple fronts. The playbook is to use probing and attacking tactics with small, fast-moving units as fighting escalates daily. With its advance, Russia has shifted the advantage on the battlefield. In May, Russian forces seized roughly 170 square miles, more than double April's gains. Most gains came south of Kostyantynivka, in the Donetsk region, and near the Russian border in the northern Sumy region. Both sides have turned to new tactics using motorcycles and civilian cars to quickly cross open terrain. Ukraine, which relies heavily on drones to hold its positions, is using civilian vehicles to resupply its defensive lines, while Russia uses them in assaults. The fighting is intensifying even as cease-fire talks have mostly stalled. n18oc_world n18oc_crux Get breaking news, in-depth analysis, and expert perspectives on everything from geopolitics to diplomacy and global trends.
