Husband, 75, calls cops to say he killed his wife ‘to put her out of her misery' as she suffered from MS
An Iowa husband has been charged with murder after he confessed to killing his sick wife to 'put her out of her misery,' police said.
Richard Hoesing, 75, called 911 around 8:45 p.m. Sunday and told Dallas County Dispatch that he had killed 74-year-old Jean Hoesing.
Officers then responded to the scene at Lucinda Street in Perry, Iowa.
A criminal complaint obtained by WHO13, stated that on the call, Hoesing told dispatchers that he had 'killed her to put her out of her misery' because she suffered from Bipolar condition and Multiple Sclerosis.
Jean Hoesing's body was found in a bedroom on the main floor and she had a 'severe laceration across the front of her throat,' the outlet reported, per the complaint.
Detectives later found a small wooden-handled kitchen knife in the bathroom, which looked to have been cleaned but still appeared to be blood on the tip.
Blood was also found on Hoesing's hands and clothes.
The Perry Police Department reported that Hoesing was cooperative with officers and was taken to the police station before being charged with first-degree murder. He was then taken to the Dallas County Jail to be booked.

(GREELEY, Colo.) — The Greeley Police Department reported that a parolee on the run from the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) Youth Halfway House in Pueblo ended up in Greeley on Monday, June 9, when the execution of a search warrant ended in his suicide. According to Greeley Police, around noon on Monday, officers responded to the 2100 block of 7th Avenue, near the intersection of Highways 85 and 34 in Greeley, to assist the Department of Corrections' Parole Fugitive division in tracking down a 26-year-old suspect reported to be on the run from Pueblo. Greeley PD reported that two weeks before, the man had been named as a suspect involved in a stabbing that occurred while he was in custody serving a sentence related to first-degree assault. At that time, the suspect left the CDOC facility in Pueblo. According to the police, Parole officers tracked the suspect to his father's house in Greeley and tried to contact him, but he ran inside. The other children and adults in the house exited and left him alone in the home. Greeley PD stated that around 1:40 p.m., a Reverse 911 text was sent out to the surrounding community advising people to stay in their homes. A search warrant was issued, and Greeley PD attempted to get the suspect to surrender. When they entered the home, they found the suspect in the basement, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Greeley PD, the Reverse 911 was cancelled around 5:15 p.m. The name of the suspect will be released by the Weld County Coroner's Office after the family is notified. Residents in a quiet Howard County community are still in shock over a police shooting that killed a 23-year-old man who reportedly stabbed his brother with a double-edged spear on Monday. Police shot the man along Oakland Mills Road in Columbia after he allegedly disobeyed orders and approached an officer with the spear, which was recovered at the scene. Meanwhile, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division (IID) is piecing together what instigated the stabbing and the shooting. The IID is the primary investigator for police shootings in the state. Police said the 26-year-old brother was stabbed multiple times in a home on Wilbur Court before calling 911 dispatchers. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A quiet neighborhood Residents say Wilbur Court in the Guilford Square neighborhood is a quiet community. They said it was shocking when the community was filled with police on Monday night. Resident Paul Pardoe said he has seen social services and police visit the home several times where the brothers live. However, he said there was nothing to suggest one would be a stabbing victim and the other shot by officers. "I've had brothers of my own, I can't imagine that." Pardoe said the domestic dispute of his neighbors hit home, especially because he's recently lost family. His wife died three months ago. "It's tough watching this stuff and families having problems like that," Pardoe said. "I can't imagine what the family's going through. Obviously, they were going through stuff before this, now look at it. What a mess."
