2 new OnePlus phones are launching soon, and no we are not talking about OnePlus 13s

India Today15-05-2025
While the world is busy talking about the upcoming OnePlus 13s — OnePlus is instead, quietly getting ready to expand its Ace 5 lineup in China. Two new models — the OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra and the Ace 5 Racing Edition — are officially on the way, and no, these are not just minor refreshes. As confirmed by OnePlus on Weibo, both phones are expected to pack serious performance chops, complete with high-end MediaTek 9400 series chips and large batteries. But here's the catch — like most phones in the Ace line-up, these new ones are almost certainly staying exclusive to China.advertisementThe OnePlus Ace series has always had a bit of a weird story when it comes to India. Take the Ace 5, for example — it launched in China last year and came to India as the OnePlus 13R. But the Ace 5 Pro, which had the better Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, never made it here. And now, with the new Ace 5 Ultra and Racing Edition confirmed for China, it's pretty clear these won't be coming to India either. That's a bit disappointing, especially since both phones look pretty solid on paper. Now, let's talk specs. The OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra will be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ chipset along with up to 16GB of RAM, 1TB storage and Android 15 out of the box. The phone was also recently spotted on Geekbench with some strong numbers: 2,779 in single-core and 8,660 in multi-core. On the display side, it could sport a large 6.83-inch LTPS OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, backed by a massive 7,000mAh battery and 100W fast wired charging. There's also talk of a dual rear camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel sensor, along with a 16-megapixel camera for selfies.advertisementThe Ace 5 Racing Edition, meanwhile, will reportedly feature the new Dimensity 9400e chip — a slightly toned-down version of the 9400+ — and a 6.77-inch OLED screen. The refresh rate and the resolution are said to remain the same at 120Hz and 1.5K. You'll still get that 7,000mAh battery, although fast charging is expected to be capped at 80W. Camera specs are rumoured to match the Ultra model, with a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. As mentioned earlier, both the OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra and Ace 5 Racing Edition will be exclusive to China. However, an exact date for the launch hasn't been revealed yet. That said, for those of us here in India, it's probably best to shift our focus to a phone that's actually set to launch in our market — the OnePlus 13s. Set to feature a 6.3-inch screen, the OnePlus 13s is confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and feature an all-new Plus Key that'll replace the good ol' alert slider.

iPhone 17 Pro price leaked, here is how much next Apple iPhone may cost

The iPhone 17 Pro could cost a little more than last year's model, if the latest leak is to be believed. As per tipster Instant Digital via Weibo, Apple is planning a $50 price hike for the iPhone 17 Pro model. While $50 might not seem like a massive jump, it's worth remembering that the iPhone Pro range already sits in the premium bracket, so any increase makes an expensive phone even pricier. The same leak also brings some good news. Apple is expected to double the base storage on the iPhone 17 Pro, from 128GB to 256GB, meaning buyers get more space for their money, even if it comes at a higher starting price of $1,049 in the US. advertisementNow, earlier reports have suggested a similar $50 price increase across the line-up, though it's unclear whether the rise is tied to higher production costs or global trade tariffs, particularly given the 30 per cent tariff on Chinese-made goods recently announced in the US. However, recent reports have also suggested that products such as phones, laptops, cameras, and other electronic devices will be exempted from the reciprocal tariffs on India — at least for now. Coming back to the topic, if we look at the wider iPhone 17 family, it's not just the iPhone 17 Pro model, which is expected to go up in price. The standard iPhone 17, the rumoured iPhone 17 Air (which is said to be replacing the Plus), and the iPhone 17 Pro Max could all see similar bumps in the US. Based on past pricing patterns for the iPhone 16 series, the Indian prices can be estimated with reasonable accuracy. The iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to start at $949, which would translate to around Rs 94,900 in India, about Rs 5,000 more than the outgoing Plus model. The iPhone 17 Pro's $1,049 price tag, using Apple's typical higher markup for Pro devices, would likely put it around Rs 1,21,900 in India. As for the top-end iPhone 17 Pro Max, the expected $1,249 US price could see it land for around Rs 1,39,900, again a jump of roughly Rs 5,000 from the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Do note, the aforementioned prices are not official. These are simply based on the current pricing trends of Apple in India. We'll find out more once the devices are officially unveiled next month. For now, we'd suggest taking this information with a healthy grain of recap, Apple is reportedly planning to launch four models this year: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Design changes may be minimal for the standard model, but the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to have larger camera islands, while the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be Apple's thinnest iPhone yet. The official launch event is likely to happen on September 9, with the usual pre-order window opening shortly after.- Ends
