‘Lilo & Stitch 2' a Go at Disney
The announcement was made via social media Thursday, timed to June 26, aka 6-26. That number ties to Stitch as the wild blue-haired alien is known as Experiment 626 in the movie. (See what the studio did there?)

That a sequel is in the works was never in doubt. The movie has grossed over $923 million worldwide on a budget of about $100 million. Most movies with that kind of box office usually have more than double Lilo's budget.
The movie has humble origins that are in keeping with a Stitch-like, gleeful and chaotic vibe: It was initially headed to Disney+ as an original movie for the platform before execs reconsidered its release and upgraded it to theatrical.
Remaking the animated 2002 movie directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the story centers on a young lonely girl, played by Maia Kealoha, who befriends a whirling dervish of blue dog, who happens to be an on-the-run alien genetically engineered as a creature of destruction. Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen play aliens in human form who are hunting Experiment 626.
Dean Fleischer Camp directed the movie, which was written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. It was produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, the latter now the head of Netflix Films. Ryan Halprin and Louis Provost executive produced, as well as Tom Peitzman and Thomas Schumacher.
Thursday's announcement did not specify any creative team on board for the sequel.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015) The 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer remains, in some ways, the ideal gonzo comedy of its era. Nothing in the movie makes much sense, and none of it really has to, in part because it features a cast filled with people who would go on to become major stars. First Day of Camp attempts to recapture the magic of that original film and succeeds to a larger extent than you might expect. Not every single joke lands, but as a vehicle for laughs, you could do a lot worse than this revival series, which managed to get even Paul Rudd to show up for a moment. Chef's Table: BBQ (2020) A show that's guaranteed to make even the vegetarians amongst us hungry, Chef's Table: BBQ is a food travelogue that hones in on barbecue in all of its various forms and travels all around the world to sample them. While Netflix offers many excellent food documentaries, this season of Chef's Table uniquely enhances your appreciation for a type of cuisine that has been integral to most people's lives for years. The LeapMove is a gamified camera designed to get kids off the couch
LeapFrog has announced a new electronic learning system that swaps controllers for a camera. In fact, the LeapMove looks like an oversized, kid-friendly webcam, but is designed to connect to TVs like a console and get kids off the couch using educational games that require full-body movements to play. It's reminiscent of the Xbox Kinect or the PlayStation 2's EyeToy, but simpler and much cheaper than competitors' products like the $249 Nex Playground. The LeapMove will be available through retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon for $69.99, and comes with 25 motion-based games designed for kids aged 4 to 7. It might be hard to pull the older end of that demographic away from games like Roblox, Among Us, and even Fortnite, but in addition to motion detection, the LeapMove uses its camera to make players appear as themselves or 'whimsical characters' in several games, which may appeal to younger kids. The games cover 'foundational school subjects' including math, reading, and spelling, and require players to do everything from dancing around to waving their arms and even attempting to catch on-screen objects. The LeapMove connects to a TV over HDMI, and instead of rechargeable batteries it needs access to a power outlet. It can be used either sitting beneath a TV or perched atop it like a webcam using a fold-out support. LeapFrog says additional games will be made available for the LeapMove at a later date, which can be loaded by connecting the device to a computer and using the company's LeapFrog Connect desktop app. They won't be free, but unlike the Nex Playground, the LeapMove doesn't come with any subscription fees. Parents concerned about privacy, particularly with devices that rely heavily on a camera, may appreciate that the LeapMove has no wireless connectivity. In 2018, VTech, LeapFrog's parent company, agreed to settle for a $650,000 fine after the FTC alleged it collected kids' personal information, including names, emails, and genders, through its KidiConnect mobile app. The LeapMove is completely standalone and keeps track of up to three players' progress locally. A Pineapple Jack-o'-Lantern Started It All
John Paul Nothaft and Sarah Margaret Berger hit it off when they met at a mutual friend's Halloween party in 2016. Both were students at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York, and crossed paths around campus, but had never spoken. Mr. Nothaft was a graduate student studying to be an organist, while Ms. Berger, a junior, was studying the violin. 'John had a kindness about him the couple of times I had seen him, so when a friend introduced us, it wasn't hard to get a conversation going,' said Ms. Berger, who came to the party dressed like Wednesday Addams from the Addams family. The two started talking about their families, shared love of cats and favorite music. 'I liked Sarah's similar sense of humor,' said Mr. Nothaft, who donned a taco costume. 'We kept our conversation going for hours. I was impressed that Sarah liked organ music.' Ms. Berger was also impressed: 'I've always considered the organ a demanding instrument to play.' They eventually headed to Mr. Nothaft's off-campus apartment, across from Ms. Berger's dorm. There, he asked her if he could kiss her. 'I had never had someone ask me so formally,' Ms. Berger said. 'It felt gentlemanly.' He texted her the next day and asked if she would join him in carving a pineapple like a jack-o'-lantern in the spirit of Halloween. 'I'm a goofy person,' Mr. Nothaft said, 'and I thought carving a pineapple would be more unique than a pumpkin.' Ms. Berger was game. 'I remember thinking that John was unlike anyone I'd ever met,' she said. They made plans for another date and met a week later to see their school production of Benjamin Britten's opera 'The Turn of the Screw.'
