Islamabad: Pakistan Army corps commanders met here Friday to review the "standoff" with India and expressed the military's "unflinching resolve" to protect the country against any "aggression or misadventure". Pakistan Army chief Gen Asim Munir presided over the special Corps Commanders' Conference (CCC) at Rawalpindi-based General Headquarters (GHQ), amid tensions between the two countries after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29 told the top defence brass that the armed forces have "complete operational freedom" to decide on the mode, targets and timing of India's response to the Pahalgam attack.The forum conducted a comprehensive review of the prevailing geo-strategic environment, with particular emphasis on the "current Pakistan-India standoff and the broader regional security calculus"."The forum reaffirmed the unflinching resolve of the Pakistan Armed Forces to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country against any aggression or misadventure," a statement said after the meeting of the military top brass.The commanders noted what it termed as "India's consistent pattern of exploitation of crises to achieve political and military objectives" and alleged that they have been "following a predictable template - whereby internal governance failures are externalised."These incidents have often coincided with unilateral moves by India to alter the status quo, as seen in 2019 when "India similarly exploited the Pulwama incident to unilaterally alter the status quo of Kashmir, through revocation of Article 370," they alleged.The meeting also expressed serious concern that India is now "exploiting the Pahalgam incident to undermine" the Indus Waters Treaty , seeking to "usurp Pakistan's legitimate and inalienable water rights".While reaffirming Pakistan's abiding commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity, the forum made clear that "any attempt to impose war will be responded to, surely and decisively and aspirations of people of Pakistan shall be respected at all costs."The meeting concluded with the COAS expressing complete confidence in the operational readiness, deterrence posture, and morale of all formations and strategic forces to defend the nation across the entire threat spectrum.

Union Cabinet approves 2 semiconductor projects worth Rs 4,009cr for Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved two major semiconductor manufacturing units worth Rs 4,009 crore for Odisha. The two projects, to be set up in Bhubaneswar's Info Valley, will generate thousands of high-skilled jobs, catalyse electronics manufacturing and help place Odisha on the global semiconductor map, sources said. The two manufacturing units will be built by SiCSem and 3D Glass. Given the growing demand for semiconductors in telecom, automotive, data centres, consumer electronics and industrial electronics, the newly approved projects will significantly contribute to creating an ' Atmanirbhar Bharat ', official sources said. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Cabinet's approval, chief minister Mohan Majhi said in an X post, "The recent amendment of the Odisha Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy, aimed at enhancing investment viability, competitiveness, and sustainability, together with this significant Cabinet approval, marks a major milestone in the state's industrial and technological advancement. I look forward to continued partnership between the state and central govts to further this strategic initiative for the comprehensive development of Odisha and the nation." SiCSem Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with UK-based Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Ltd, will set up India's first commercial compound semiconductor fabrication facility here. The plant will manufacture silicon carbide (SiC) devices, known for their efficiency in high-power applications, with an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and 96 million packaged units. The SiC devices will have applications across critical sectors, including missiles, defence equipment, electric vehicles (EVs), railway, fast chargers, data centre racks, consumer appliances and solar power inverters. The facility is expected to give India a strategic edge in producing next-generation power electronics domestically. The second project, by US-headquartered 3D Glass Solutions Inc (3DGS), will introduce the world's most advanced semiconductor packaging technology. The unit will manufacture glass interposers, silicon bridges and 3D heterogeneous integration (3DHI) modules. The component are crucial for miniaturisation, high performance and energy efficiency in electronics. With a planned capacity of about 69,600 glass panel substrates, 50 million assembled units, and 13,200 3DHI modules annually, the facility will cater to applications in defence, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, RF and automotive electronics, photonics and co-packaged optics. Officials said the two projects will not only bring cutting-edge technology to Odisha but also create a ripple effect in the state's electronics ecosystem, encouraging ancillary industries and boosting technical skill development. Apart from two Odisha projects, the Cabinet also approved one project each for Punjab and Andhra Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the Cabinet's decision to set up the two units in Odisha. He said the decision is a pivotal moment for the state, emphasising its potential to create jobs and generate substantial revenue. Pradhan expressed his gratitude to the PM and highlighted that this move marks a new chapter in the 'Purvodaya' mission. Punjab: YouTuber quizzed by central agencies over 2024 Pak visit
The central intelligence agencies questioned a Jalandhar-based travel vlogger over his alleged visits to Pakistan a few months ago. The travel vlogger had uploaded multiple videos related to his Pakistan visit on his YouTube Channel. (HT File) Amrik Singh, a resident of Turna village in Jalandhar district, was summoned by Jalandhar rural police to visit Lohian police station on Monday evening, where he was questioned for more than 20 hours. He was released on Tuesday evening. Deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Naveen Singla confirmed the development and said, 'The social media influencer was questioned over his visit to Pakistan around eight months back.' Shahkot's deputy superintendent of police, Onkar Singh Brar, said 'central agencies' questioned the YouTuber, and the local police don't have any details about the questioning. 'He has been released. We have informed the village panchayat to take Amrik back from the police station,' he said. Amrik had uploaded multiple videos related to his Pakistan visit on his YouTube Channel. Amrik's wife, Manpreet Kaur, said her husband was summoned in connection with their December 2024 trip to Pakistan during which they filmed videos covering Sikh religious sites and other human interest stories, and uploaded the same on their YouTube channel. 'My husband's phone remained unreachable for nearly a day after he went to the Lohian police station to record his statement,' she said.

Faisal Patel NEW DELHI: In remarks likely to raise eyebrows in the Congress, Faisal Patel -- son of the late party stalwart Ahmed Patel - has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership during Operation Sindoor , the cross-border strike on terror camps in Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. "It can't be better than who's running the show... The armed forces have done a great job, and PM Narendra Modi showed great leadership and brought us out of a huge crisis. I am proud of our armed forces. I have a lot of respect for Jaishankarji. How Modiji picks up bureaucrats, makes them leaders and puts them in ministry roles is a very good thing," Patel told ANI. In an interview to CNN-News18, he called Modi and home minister Amit Shah "great leaders" and declared the country was "in safe hands" - a remark loaded with political irony given Ahmed Patel's long rivalry with Modi during UPA years, when he was Sonia Gandhi's most trusted strategist. Though insisting he remains a Congress member, Patel pointed to internal drift in the party.
