Indiana Fever release statement updating Caitlin Clark injury status
Caitlin Clark has missed the last two regular-season games and the All-Star game with a right groin injury. It's the third different soft tissue injury Clark has dealt with this season, leading to her being in and out of the lineup all year long.
Clark has already been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Las Vegas Aces, and the Fever provided an update on her injury and recovery process on Thursday.
In a statement released on X, the Fever put out a highly-anticipated update on Clark's injury and the additional testing that happened earlier this week.
"Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered.
Clark will continue working with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for her return," the Fever's statement read.
It's good and bad news for the star guard.
It's great that the testing from earlier this week found no additional injuries. Now, the Fever and Clark know they're just dealing with that right groin injury and can put together a treatment and recovery plan based on that.
The bad news is that there is still no timetable for Clark's return as of now. While this isn't surprising news, as that treatment plan is probably still being worked on, it's unfortunate for the rest of the team and the fans that Clark's return timeline is still up in the air.
The most important thing for Clark and the Fever is her long-term health, as mentioned in the statement released by the team. If keeping her out of game action for a while ensures she fully recovers, then that's the right move for all parties.
In the meantime, the Fever will have to find ways to win games without their point guard, which has proved to be a challenge this season. They're 4-7 without Clark this season, including the Commissioner's Cup final, and they're 9-5 with her playing.
Indiana (12-12) continues their season on Thursday when they host the Las Vegas Aces (12-11). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Amazon Prime Video.

2025-26 training camp: Rockets to open with September 29 media day
In what may serve as a de facto introductory press conference for Kevin Durant, the Rockets will host their annual media day on Monday, September 29. In what could be an introductory press conference of sorts for Kevin Durant, the Houston Rockets are expected to host their 2025-26 media day on Monday, September 29. The dates are publicly available on the NBA's website. Coincidentally, that September 29 date will be Durant's 37th birthday. Training camp will likely open the following day, September 30, with the preseason opener scheduled for a week later on October 6. Opening night for the Rockets could come as soon as October 21, with complete regular-season schedules to be released by the league office later this month. Because Durant was acquired in July and the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) does not mandate media availabilities in the offseason, the 15-time All-Star has yet to speak with reporters in Houston. While it's still possible that a press conference could occur earlier, nothing has been scheduled, and NBA personnel often spend the weeks immediately prior to camp traveling or spending time with their inner circle — i.e. family or close friends that they can't see as often during the season. In many cases, this requires traveling out of market. In a recent interview, Rockets veteran Dorian Finney-Smith referenced an unofficial team mini-camp being held in September, which could further tighten this year's schedule. Because Durant's media day interview will undoubtedly consist of questions about his new team in Houston, that might be another incentive for him to wait — since he will likely be addressing the same types of topics, regardless of whether he does an earlier event. After previous superstar acquisitions, such as Dwight Howard in the 2013 offseason and Chris Paul in 2017, the Rockets held offseason events featuring both a press conference with reporters and an opportunity for the player to directly engage with the fan base. It's a safe assumption that the team would have loved to capitalize on the Durant buzz with a similar engagement event, but the team cannot mandate his appearance in a period without games. It comes down to the player's availability, and there haven't been many indications of Durant physically being in Houston this offseason. However, during the second episode of her "Show Me Something" podcast, Sophie said she was talking about a "different" kind of hurt. "It's funny. Don't get me wrong. It's hilarious. But then I tweeted, I was lowkey joking, and I think people were like I was joking but serious, like more joking than serious. I wasn't even thinking about my ankles. This time around, it happened in the Windy City during a game between the Chicago Sky and the, well, Golden State Valkyries. But not only was the same team involved, the same color of the sex toy was thrown on the court while the ball was in play. Fortunately, both times, the dildo landed in a spot where there were no players around. So luckily, as Sophie thinks, no one got hurt physically or otherwise. "I just know that if things go viral now," she continued. "And I just know if that thing, like even came from the rafters or bounced and slapped me in the face, that would be what I would be known for, for life. So I was just trying to protect all of our images. And yeah, break a fu—ng nose, what the hell?" The first dildo-thrower was arrested Fortunately for Sophie, she or the other players in the WNBA might not have to worry about a similar incident again. That's because police arrested 23-year-old Delbert Carver last Saturday after he was identified as the man who threw the first dildo in Atlanta. Carver was charged with disorderly conduct and public indecency. He spent the night in jail before he was released the following day after posting a bail bond. The WNBA also suspended him from attending any game for at least one season. "The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans," the WNBA wrote in its statement. "In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities." According to a police affidavit, Carver claimed it was meant as a joke he hoped would go viral. But if it had connected the way Sophie described, it could've easily turned that player into one of the most embarrassing sports memes ever. Imagine if someone's phone captured the dildo next to your face. That hurts, probably even more than an ankle story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 6, 2025, where it first appeared.
