Long-time LSU commit to reportedly visit Alabama this weekend
According to multiple reports, a current LSU football commit is set to visit the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend.
That prospect is wide receiver Kenny Darby, a Louisiana native who has been committed to the in-state Tigers since Nov. 2024. Darby also, according to reports, previously shut his recruitment down earlier this year.

According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Darby is currently rated as the nation's No. 155 overall player in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 7 prospect in the state of Louisiana where he attends Airline High School. A four-star prospect, Darby also ranks as the No. 23 overall wide receiver in the class.
Darby will now be yet another name to monitor as the Crimson Tide prepare to host a loaded recruiting weekend in Tuscaloosa. Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently has only five commitments, none of which are wide receivers.

How Sacramento's American River Parkway could be impacted by budget cuts
SACRAMENTO — There are concerns about trash troubles growing in Sacramento County parks. This week, the board of supervisors is trying to balance its $8.9 billion budget, and more than a million dollars could be cut from regional park funding. Sacramento County is facing an $18 million general fund deficit, and the parks department is bracing for more than a million and a half dollars in cuts. Many are concerned that these potential cuts could put the American River Parkway in peril. "We're going to see an increase in pollution in the parkway. We're going to see an increase in transient-type behavior, illegal activity," said David Ingram, co-founder of the River City Waterway Alliance. The proposed reductions include eliminating one park maintenance worker, 14 staff who help with park operations and $500,000 for waterway cleanup. "We're hoping with the staff that we have remaining, will be able to mitigate some of that so that our residents don't feel much of the impact of these potential reductions," said county spokesperson Ken Casparis. Ingram said the funding being cut pays for crews to clear debris from Steelhead Creek, which flows through Discovery Park. "Shopping carts and mattresses and tires, really horrible things that are clogging the channel," Ingram said. Much of that debris comes from homeless encampments. "We're definitely going to see an increase in encampments moving back into the parkway with less personnel," Ingram said. "We're making such great progress right now, to try and curb that and curtail that, we just don't think it's the right time," said Lisa Sanchez, co-founder of the River City Waterway Alliance. Sacramento County says there will be no cuts to park rangers and no planned park closures or reduced hours. But parkway supporters say full funding needs to continue to help protect and maintain the scenic stretch of nature. "The American River Parkway is the crown jewel of the Sacramento region," Ingram said. The board of supervisors will begin budget talks on Wednesday and must approve a recommended budget by June 30.

WEST SACRAMENTO — Byron Buxton matched his career high with five RBIs and the Minnesota Twins extended the Athletics' losing streak to seven games with a 10-4 victory Monday night. Buxton had a two-run double with two outs in a six-run second inning. He drove in two more with a bases-loaded single in the sixth and added a sacrifice fly in the ninth. Lawrence Butler hit a three-run homer for the Athletics (23-38), who have lost 18 of 19 overall. They fell to 9-20 at Sutter Health Park, their temporary home for at least the next three seasons. In the opener of a four-game series, the Twins went down in order in the first against Luis Severino before batting around in the second. Ty France singled in the first two runs and Buxton made it 4-0. Trevor Larnach had an RBI single before Brooks Lee doubled in the final run of the inning. Lee added an RBI single in the eighth. Butler walked, went to third on Jacob Wilson's double and scored on Brent Rooker's hard comebacker to Twins starter Joe Ryan in the third for the Athletics' first run. Butler hit his ninth homer — a two-out shot to center field in the fourth — to get the A's within 6-4. Ryan (6-2) loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth but escaped unscathed. He gave up four runs and six hits in five innings. Buxton's two-run single chased Severino (1-5), who allowed eight runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. The Twins (32-27) have gone 6-7 since winning 13 straight. Key moment Ryan had the bases loaded and a 3-0 count on CJ Alexander in the fifth before retiring Alexander and Luis Urías on popups.
