MGK Reveals Why He Turned Down Role In Ryan Coogler's Sinners
MGK revealed his wish to act despite rejecting a role in Sinners, which later went to Peter Dreimanis.
MGK, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, recently made a startling revelation about his aspirations to act in film and television. The American rapper, singer, songwriter and producer opened up about turning down a role in the Sinners, a horror film produced, written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Additionally, he stated that he passed over a few productions and also explained the reasons behind this.
MGK appeared on one of the recent episodes of The Pat McAfee Show and confessed that he has huge aspirations to embark on the journey of acting. He said, 'It just hasn't panned out that way. I'm on universal timing, though, so we'll see." The Rap Devil singer then mentioned how he later realised that he could have been a part of those projects, instead of just turning down those offers.
MGK Reveals He Was Supposed To Be In Sinners
During his conversation, he revealed how the makers of Sinners were considering him for the role of Bert, who was later played by Peter Dreimanis after he rejected the part. The 35-year-old singer confessed, 'I mean, there's been plenty of movies that come out that I'm like, 'Ah, I was supposed to be in that.' Or, 'Oh, I did auditions for that.' Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that."
Why MGK Denied The Role Of Bert In Sinners
Post denying the audition for the horror movie, the Wild Boy rapper thought that he could have easily been part of Ryan Coogler's box office hit. He also described that, however, his decision at that time was because he was required to say a racial slur.
The role was ultimately played by Peter Dreimanis in Sinners, where the on-screen character gets married to Lola Kirke's Joan. Then, the two turn into vampires after a series of incidents leading up to that. Talking about the same, MGK said, 'The vampire — they had me set up to do the audition— it's the one that's in the house, so he's the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family," adding, 'In the audition, he has to say the 'n-word' and I wouldn't do it."
MGK Is Still Eager To Act
Despite his multiple denials, he says, 'I'd like to be in the cinema while I still look young," adding, 'Okay. All right. That was the message to Hollywood. I would like to be recruited into a movie while I still have some looks."
Talking about Sinners, the movie hit the theatres on April 18, becoming one of the highest-grossing original films since the pandemic, according to Forbes. The horror film is currently streaming on HBO Max, Prime Video, Fandango At Home and Apple TV.
Set in 1932 Mississippi, the film stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as criminal twin brothers who return to their hometown to start again, where a supernatural evil confronts them. The movie also features Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Peter Dreimanis, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo.

BTS' Jungkook collaborating with Charlie Puth again? J-Hope updates as SUGA, RM and Jimin get cooking in studio
BTS' J-Hope shared a carousel of moments capturing the group's time in Los Angeles. Among the many photos of the team members resting, one particularly grabbed attention. Singer Charlie Puth was seen jamming with the members and having a jolly good time, raising speculations of another collaboration between the two acts after Jungkook's Left and Right featuring the American singer-songwriter. Moreover, the other members were seen recording in what appeared to be a famous studio in the States, where Standing Next to You was previously made. Charlie Puth is back in the studio with BTS, another hit on the way? J-Hope 's update, captioned, 'I'm out in LA', saw glimpses of BTS members 'cooking' with rounds upon rounds of recording sessions. In one of the videos, member SUGA could be seen playing a guitar. A rare sight, fans were happy to see him back in action and work on another banger. Moreover, member RM was seen in the recording room, probably getting some raps in. Their chilling sessions included Jimin and V, the latter of whom also appeared in his own update. The most important highlight in the series of photos and videos came last with singer Charlie Puth humoring the BTS members with a fidget spinner. Jungkook could be seen laughing with him over a muted conversation. V's own photo showed the American producer riding a scooter and Jimin in the same fit as in J-Hope's update, giving an impression that the group was indeed all together, sans Jin, who is known to be on his solo tour. The group has been working hard while staying at a secret location in Los Angeles. Set to release a new album in spring 2026, the team has been moving to and fro, from the US to South Korea. The highly anticipated new record will be the group's first since all members wrapped up their military services. Earlier today, BTS denied having recorded or being a part of the rumored Michael Jackson tribute album, silencing any reports saying otherwise and putting a stop to the 'song stealing' accusations that have been making the rounds. They vowed to be committed to disseminating misinformation.
