‘We did something that mattered': a bird rescue story melts hearts online

In a viral video, a man and his friend are seen rescuing a baby bird that had fallen into a roadside drain, while the distressed mother bird cries out for help. In the video, a bird—likely the baby's mother—is anxiously flying around a drain and crying loudly. The two men stop, remove the drain cover, and discover a small baby bird trapped below. Without hesitation, one of them enters the drain to retrieve the tiny creature. His friend then gently places the rescued bird near its mother. The video was shared on Instagram along with a heartfelt caption, 'While walking with a friend around 10 p.m., we heard a bird crying near a drain. At first, it just sounded like noise, but it didn't stop. Then the bird flew toward us and back to the drain, still crying. Something about the way it moved made me stop. It felt like it was trying to get our attention. 'We walked over and looked into the drain and there it was. A baby bird had fallen inside. For a moment, we didn't know what to do. Should we call 911? or Was it okay to lift the cover ourselves? But the cries kept going, and it didn't feel right to just walk away. 'So we took the risk. We lifted the cover and we reached down to pick up the baby bird. We set it down gently near its mother. She didn't fly off. She just stayed close to it. And something in the way she stood there quiet now, almost still felt like a kind of peace. Like she was saying thank you. 'In that moment, I felt something real. A mother's love is the same in every living thing loud, strong, and full of fight. And tonight, I'm just glad we listened. We did something that mattered, and it feels good. I'm proud of us.' The video has struck a chord online, amassing over 978 thousand likes and 120 thousand comments. Many users praised the compassion shown by the duo. He was very tired, so the situation was surely exhausting.' On Monday night, Viineet posted: 'I am at Dubai Airport. 9:23 pm Dubai Time. Immigration done. Waiting at the gate for my flight (airplane emoji). Fingers crossed." After landing in Mumbai, Viineet told News18, 'We were clueless around 10 PM. Then we got the news that the boarding would start. The flight took off a little late, but everything is fine. Emirates Airlines and Dubai airport staff helped all.'
