Winners and losers from Broncos 27-7 win over Cardinals

The Denver Broncos came away on the high end of a 27-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals, where wide receiver Troy Franklin finished with two touchdown catches. Alongside Franklin, there were a host of other winners (and two losers) from the game. Let's dive into it! Winner: RB RJ Harvey Harvey looked great, starting on the first two drives for Denver, with the ones sitting out. It can now be safely assumed veteran J.K. Dobbins will be RB1, with Harvey the next featured back. Harvey finished the game with three rushes for 18 yards and one touchdown, his first as a Bronco, and one catch out of the backfield for two yards. Winner: WR Pat Bryant Bryant caught four passes on six targets for a game-high 70 yards. In two games of preseason action, Bryant has now caught six passes for 91 yards. Bryant's most impressive catch against the Cardinals was a shoestring grab in the first half from quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Bryant's big-play ability is an exciting prospect for a developing Broncos offense led by Bo Nix. Winner: TE Evan Engram Engram played on the Broncos' first offensive series, and his first 'official' touch for Denver went for 58 yards. It gave fans a hopeful glimpse into what a weapon the tight end can be. Winner: WR Courtney Jackson Jackson had himself the best night of any Bronco not named Troy Franklin. Jackson made an impact on special teams (three punt returns for 43 yards) and had a variety of creative touches on offense (one rush for 30 yards, two catches for 32 yards). After a strong showing at camp, and his integration on offense, it may be safe to say that Jackson has made a strong case for earning his way onto the 53-man roster. Loser: RB Audric Estime Estime seemed to lose carries to fellow running back Blake Watson. Estime carried the ball nine times for 20 yards, averaging the fewest yards per carry of any back against Arizona, despite the second-most carries of any back Denver put on the field. Estime is looking like he could be cut in favor of Watson or Badie. Loser: TE Caleb Lohner Denver's seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft committed three penalties and looked lost on offense with motions and positioning. Lohner did have one catch for four yards. Despite limited production and frequent mistakes, one has to remember Lohner is new to the game of football, as it is his second year in total, college and professional. Lohner's rare 6-8 size could render him a practice squad candidate as he develops, but it is hard to see him on the 53-man squad at this point. Sean Payton did like him, so it's likely he'll stick around in some capacity. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones? Who should start for Colts at QB?

Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones? Who should start for the Indianapolis Colts at quarterback this season? Indianapolis Colts' head coach Shane Steichen said he is "very close" to making a decision at quarterback and would like to make that decision "shortly." So who is he going to name as the Colts' Week 1 starter--Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones? From the outside looking in, the choice seems to be an obvious one: it needs to be Richardson. An emphasis for Richardson this offseason was on becoming more accurate on those short-to-intermediate throws. To help accomplish this, he prioritized his footwork, which is where proper mechanics and accuracy often begin for a quarterback. That offseason work has translated over to the practice field this summer, and we saw it--mostly--on display against the Packers in the preseason game. Michael Pittman also recently mentioned that Richardson has improved at making touch passes--something we also saw against Green Bay on a pair of throws. As Steichen has said, he is looking for consistency at quarterback, and that is an all-encompassing trait that includes day-to-day preparation, command of the offense, and so much more. This goes well beyond who has the higher completion rate. This is the most difficult part to gauge when it comes to evaluating this competition because we see so little of it. But DeForest Buckner praised Richardson for his elevated sense of urgency this offseason. Quenton Nelson spoke highly of Richardson's play as well, while Steichen told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that he's seen "great strides" from him as a leader as well. Richardson has made real strides this offseason and summer, and the on-field results are coming with it. From the outside perspective, the battle between Richardson and Jones seems to be close. If that's the case, then again, Richardson is the obvious choice for QB1. Beyond the progress he's made, Richardson is by far the higher upside player, and the Colts have also invested a lot into him--both in terms of draft capital and time. The Colts ultimately still have to figure out what they have in Richardson long-term, and learning that only comes by letting him play--and Richardson has earned that opportunity.

Sixers legend Wilt Chamberlain ranked No. 3 center in NBA history

Wilt Chamberlain is one of the legends in the history of the NBA. The only player to score 100 points in a game and with career averages of 30.1 points and 22.9 rebounds, Chamberlain is one of those players who one had to see to believe. Chamberlain spent 3.5 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 27.6 points and 23.9 rebounds while winning three MVPs and guiding the Sixers to the championship in 1967. The legendary big man was unbelievable and has his No. 13 jersey hanging from the rafters at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. HoopsHype ranked the top 20 centers in the history of the NBA and Chamberlain comes in ranked No. 3 on the list: The most dominant big man offensively in NBA history, though that partially had to do with the level of competition Wilt Chamberlain faced in his era. Still, when you dominate at the level Chamberlain did, who cares who he did it against? Chamberlain did come a little short in the team success department as he was usually better in the regular season than in the playoffs, something that many believe had to do with an unwillingness to get fouled late in close games due to his unreliable free throw. Chamberlain is one of the best players in Sixers history and will always have the respect of the NBA world. The only centers ranked ahead of him were fellow legends Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
