India to launch demographic mission to tackle illegal infiltration: PM Modi in Independence Day speech
In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India's 79th Independence Day, he said the country's forefathers made the supreme sacrifice to win freedom for Indians and it is the duty of its citizens to not accept such activities.

"I wish to warn the country about a concern that is emerging as a crisis. As part of a premeditated conspiracy, the country's demography is being changed. Seeds of a new crisis are being sown," Mr. Modi said.
"These ghuspaithiyas [infiltrators] are snatching the bread and butter of our youth. These ghuspaithiyas are targeting our country's daughters and sisters. This will not be tolerated. These ghuspaithiyas are befooling innocent tribals and capturing their forest land. This country will not tolerate this," he said.
The PM said his government has decided to start a high-powered demographic mission to tackle this crisis.
"From the ramparts of the Red Fort, I want to say that we have decided to start a high-powered demographic mission. This mission will tackle this serious crisis and will take care of the crisis looming large over our country in a set time frame. We are moving forward towards it," he announced.
Mr. Modi warned that when demographic changes take place, especially in the border areas, they create a national security crisis.
"It also creates a crisis for our unity, integrity and progress. It sows the seeds of social tension. No nation in the world can hand over itself to ghuspaithiyas, then how can we hand over Bharat to them," Mr. Modi stressed.
"Our forefathers got freedom by making the supreme sacrifice. They gave us an independent India and it is our duty that we do not accept such activities. This will be our true tribute to them," he added.

The march, modelled on Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, will travel through 23 districts and cover 50 Assembly segments across 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in various regions of Bihar. The yatra will cover a distance of over 1,300 km, with participants travelling both on foot and by vehicle. Gandhi said, 'This fight is to save the Constitution. The RSS and the BJP are trying to destroy the Constitution in the country. In every election, they win. In Maharashtra, opinion polls had indicated that the INDIA bloc would win the elections. We won in the Lok Sabha elections there, but lost the Assembly elections.' 'We did some inquiry and found that the EC magically gave birth to one crore new voters. There was a difference of one crore voters between the Lok Sabha elections and the state elections. Where voters were added, the BJP won,' he added. Gandhi said they filed a complaint with the EC and requested video recordings, but the EC refused the request. 'In Karnataka, we analysed Assembly segments and discovered that over one lakh votes were manipulated, which allowed the BJP to win. I have detailed information regarding this issue. The EC requested an affidavit from me; however, the BJP representatives made similar allegations without being asked for an affidavit,' he said. Gandhi's march comes amid protests by the Opposition parties within Parliament and outside over the EC's SIR of electoral rolls in Bihar. Hearing a clutch of petitions challenging the Bihar SIR, the Supreme Court, in its interim order on August 14, directed the EC to make available online a searchable list of about 65 lakh voter names omitted from the draft electoral rolls with reasons for their deletion. Gandhi had also alleged that votes were stolen in last year's general elections. He gave the example of the Mahadevapura Assembly segment in Karnataka, where he claimed bogus votes were cast and that the EC helped the BJP win the elections through 'vote theft'.

Notably, the two highway projects unveiled by the Prime Minister will mark a big connectivity leap for the national capital and go a long way in decongesting the capital, reducing travel time and traffic snarls in the capital and surrounding areas.
