Vishwambara director Vassishta on delay of Chiranjeevi-led film: 4,800 VFX shots, that's why it's taking time

Hindustan Times02-07-2025
Telugu cinema's megastar, Chiranjeevi, is busy with multiple films at any given point of time. One of his current commitments has been in the making for over two years now, Vishwambhara, directed by young filmmaker Vassishta, who made his debut with the hit Kalyan Ram Telugu film, Bimbisara. To date, the makers have yet to lock a release date, and this has disappointed Chiranjeevi fans. Director Vassishta and Chiranjeevi in a poster from Vishwambara

Various reasons have been reported about the film's delay, with sources suggesting that Vishwambhara is yet to lock its post-theatrical deals, including OTT. There are also rumours that the shoot is yet to be wrapped up. And now, director Vassishta has finally opened up about the delay, stating that the extensive VFX work is what has been consuming time.
"There are close to 4,800 VFX shots in Vishwambhara, and various companies are working around the clock to enhance the graphics. This is the first time a Telugu film will have such massive VFX work, and that is the major reason the film is getting delayed," said Vassishta in an interview with Gulte.
The young director also adds that the makers intend to give audiences a memorable experience when they come to the movie halls. Vishwambhara is a fantasy drama that has Chiranjeevi paired opposite Trisha Krishnan. MM Keeravani has composed the music for this film. Chiranjeevi upset over trolling following teaser?
Yet another major rumor about the film is that after the release of the teaser, the film faced massive trolling, and this upset Chiranjeevi, who ordered the graphics to be revamped entirely. But Vassishta slams the news as fake and says extensive VFX work is the reason for the delay. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi has started shooting for another film, which is being directed by Anil Ravipudi, and it might hit the screens earlier than Vishwambhara.

Coolie fetches Rs 4 crore on Day 6 in Tamil Nadu markets Produced under the banner of Sun Pictures, Coolie maintained an excellent hold in its extended opening weekend in Tamil Nadu. Coolie has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the Kollywood box office, while bringing a cume gross collection of Rs 106 crore. Coolie will struggle to enter Rs 150 crore club in the state Going by the trends, it is unlikely that Coolie will be able to smash into the Rs 150 crore club in Tamil Nadu. Based on the opening, it should have been targetting Rs 200 crore plus in the state instead. Lokesh Kanagaraj's latest directorial, which clashed with War 2, will be perceived as a film that didn't match its potential. With Rajinikanth 's star power and good word of mouth, it could have been the highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. However, the recently released action thriller will now end in the top six highest-grossing films in Kollywood. Coolie may touch the top 5 list, but that's going to be tight. Coolie Box Office Collection Day 6: Rajinikanth movie hits massive slowdown after earning ₹200 cr, mints THIS amount

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 6: Rajinikanth's Coolie suffered a massive 65.96% slowdown in earnings on Monday, slowing down its dream run after the ₹ 200 crore milestone. On Tuesday, too, the movie did not pick up much momentum. The Rajinikanth movie, released on August 14 to mark the superstar's 50th year in the industry, enjoyed a record-breaking long weekend at the Indian box office. Coolie is facing fierce competition from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2. Rajinikanth's Coolie stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy. Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde also appear in a cameo. According to early estimates of industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, earned just ₹ 4.7 crore on Tuesday until 6:30 PM. This figure is significantly lower than what the movie earned during the long weekend. On Monday, the movie earned ₹ 12 crore, of which its Tamil variant contributed the maximum, ₹ 7.75 crore. With this, Coolie's 6-day total stands at ₹ 211.2 crore. The total earnings will be revised later in the evening, once the figures for the evening and night show are declared. The movie has been released in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, boosting a pan-India appeal. Coolie, the biggest Indian opener of 2025 at the worldwide box office, earned a gross of ₹ 403 crore globally on Day 5. Of this, the movie minted ₹ 158.45 crore overseas, while its India gross was ₹ 244.55 crore. However, according to the moviemakers, Coolie raked in ₹ 404 crore gross in 4 days, and touted it to be the highest worldwide gross collection in the Tamil film industry. Sacnilk said Coolie became the first Tamil movie to cross the Rs150 crore worldwide mark on its opening day, cementing its place in cinematic history.
