The Famous Dolly Parton No-Bake Dessert That's Perfect for Summer

Dolly Parton's recipes are always super simple. And that simplicity reflects the country star's humble roots, which have influenced her connection to food. Her love for cooking was born out of necessity, having grown up with twelve siblings. So easy, delicious, crowd-pleasing recipes have always been her thing, whether that be her ground beef casserole, chicken and dumplings, skillet cornbread or her viral and beloved peanut butter pie.

While there's no shortage of peanut butter pie recipes online, Dolly's stands out for a few reasons. The no-bake pie comes together lightning fast and uses just five ingredients—creamy peanut butter, cream cheese, Cool Whip, powdered sugar and store-bought graham cracker crust.
The recipe first appeared on Food.com thanks to a user who scored some handwritten recipe cards at an auction. Since then, the internet has been raving about the star's beloved pie recipe, with many cooks doing riffs of their own.
After giving the recipe a try, content creator @its_not_tay admitted that the country star 'can sing and she can cook!' Content creator Lorafied gave the recipe a mini treatment, filling several personal-sized graham cracker crusts instead of one big one. While she topped it with peanuts, one follower commented she should try mini Reese's cups and another recommended she cover the base of the crusts with melted chocolate, which is an idea I can get behind!

The first step to making Dolly's peanut butter pie is to make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature. This requires a bit of planning, but it will make your peanut butter pie-making so much easier. Cold cream cheese is difficult to whip and can leave lumps in your pie filling, which is something you definitely don't want.

Once softened, add the cream cheese to a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer with powdered sugar and peanut butter and mix until smooth. One piece of advice regarding the peanut butter: all-natural peanut butter will make the filling grainy, so this is a moment to use a big brand peanut butter (think Jif or Skippy) that's smooth and creamy right out of the jar.
Next, gently fold in Cool Whip into the peanut butter mixture and divide it between two store-bought graham cracker crusts, spreading the filling evenly in the crusts. (If you're making the pie for a smaller group, you can easily halve the recipe and make just one pie.) Cover and chill until the filling is set.

If you have a little more time to spare, it's fun to make the crust from scratch. You can go with a homemade graham cracker crust, or swap out the graham crackers for Oreos, Nilla wafers, Biscoff cookies, or even gingersnaps. Personally, I'd blitz up some pretzels with some butter, and a little sugar to create a sweet and salty summer treat that's perfect for a summertime grilled feast.

Dollywood tops Disney parks in Tripadvisor's best amusement park rankings survey

A new survey revealed which amusement parks in America are the best — andthe top spot may (or may not) surprise you. Tripadvisor released its "Best of the Best Things to Do" report after conducting research across all high-volume reviews and eight million opinions from the Tripadvisor community in the past 12 months. "Get ready to scream, splash, soar through the sky, and escape into your favorite worlds at these winning parks," reads the announcement ranking the amusement and water parks. Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, ranked first on the list, at 4.3 out of 5. The park is co-owned by the iconic Dolly Parton, who grew up around the Smoky Mountains in the Big Bender state. Dollywood has 50 rides spanning over 160 acres, according to its website. "The park has a downhome feel with singalongs and a museum dedicated to Parton's life, plus high-velocity roller coasters and thrill rides," reads Tripadvisor's report. Dollywood also has an art scene with performances, glassblowing showcases and artisans making pottery. One reviewer left five stars, writing, "We had a great time at this theme park." "It was very hot. However, the park offers shaded areas and free ice water!" the person continued. "There were also fans placed around the park. They care about their guests." Dollywood beat out Disney and Universal parks. Coming out in second place was Magic Kingdom Park. Located in Bay Lake, Florida, the park is dubbed "The Most Magical Place on Earth." Magic Kingdom is home to some of the most popular Disney attractions, such as Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise and Cinderella's castle. "There's also a nightly fireworks show, musical parades, and meet and greets with your favorite Disney characters," Tripadvisor notes. In third place is Knoebels Amusement Resort, located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. The park has been family-owned and operated since 1926. Tripadvisor notes it is America's largest free-admission amuseument park. It has "roller coasters, kid-friendly rides (bumper cars, a haunted mansion), swimming, camping, a mining museum, and even a championship 18-hole golf course." Disney's Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Florida, took fourth place. The park has some of Disney's most thrilling rides, such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith-themed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Rounding out the top five was the Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. "Universal Islands of Adventure — one of two parks at Universal Orlando — is home to superheroes and magical creatures," notes Tripadvisor. "One of the highlights is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where you can ride Hagrid's Motorbike," the report adds. "Don't miss the Velocicoaster, a high-speed coaster."

Beloved theme park ranked No. 1 in the US — besting even Disney and Universal fun spots: ‘Above-and-beyond reviews'

Move over, Mickey Mouse. Tripadvisor has named the top amusement park in the U.S. — and it's not in Disney or Universal. In its 2025 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Awards this week, Dollywood was named No. 1 in the Amusement & Water Parks category. Advertisement This isn't the first time Parton's amusement park, which opened to the public in 1986, has landed in the No. 1 spot — according to Knoxville News Sentinel, Dollywood has earned the top spot three times in four years. It's also been named one of the top 25 amusement parks in the world at No. 11 — and it's the only park in North America to make the top 15 on the international list. 5 Dolly Parton at Dollywood in 1993.'This award is humbling,' Dollywood President Eugene Naughton said in a statement to the outlet, 'because it is derived from real reviews left by our actual guests describing their time here at our parks and resorts.' Disney World's Magic Kingdom came in second place, and Knoebels Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania ranked No. 3. The ranking by Tripadvisor is based on 'above-and-beyond reviews and opinions' from the site's community over 12 months, the website said, adding that out of the 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve the milestone. 5 The Chasing Rainbows theater at Dollywood. Dolly Parton altered Playboy bunny outfit for magazine cover to respect religious fans: author

Dolly Parton has always cared about her fans. In 1978, that meant requesting a special costume for her iconic Playboy photo shoot that wouldn't offend the more religious members of her fanbase. Lawrence Grobel, famed celebrity interviewer, was the journalist who spoke to Parton for the intimate, wide-ranging interview, and in diary entries he wrote at the time, which were recently shared with Vanity Fair, he explained her and her team's thought process behind agreeing to the Playboy interview in the first place. "Her manager, Sandy Gallin, told her that Playboy is the classiest magazine to do an interview," he wrote. "But there are some Bible-totin' folks who are her fans and that concerns her. She'll pose for the cover if the bunny costume can be altered so the crotch can be lowered and she doesn't reveal too much boob." Fox News Digital reached out to Parton's representative for comment. In the actual 1978 interview, Parton said that when it came to posing for the cover, "I was afraid at first, when we talked about it. I didn't want to be naked or something on the front of a magazine unless everybody knew it was a joke." She continued, "I mean, I wouldn't want to be naked even then. It might not offend me, but I was afraid maybe a lot of my country fans and some of the people who love me who are of a religious nature might not understand." The "I Will Always Love You" singer acknowledged that people would "make jokes and things, not because of my beauty but just because of that physical thing that's built around my boobs," and she said that made her question doing the shoot. "Then I thought, it isn't something I should be ashamed of," she said. "Playboy's a real classy magazine. And I mean, who else but Dolly Parton should be on the cover of Playboy? If you wanted an outrageous person to be an outrageous magazine cover, who else? I just hope people will take it in the spirit in which I did it—you know, something cute and off-the-wall for me." In his diary, Grobel described Parton as "funny, charming, disarming," and wrote that it was "easy to talk to her," but "difficult to interrupt." He also wrote that she "has no trouble talking about anything, though when I asked her how old she was when she lost her virginity, she said if she told me, people would think she was perverted." The writer noted in another entry after another conversation with her: "Of all the stars I've met, she's the most naturally flirtatious." In 2024, Parton spoke about her Playboy cover, telling Business Insider that while she was "comfortable" with the photo shoot she did, "I was not going to do any of the layouts, the nudity and all that." She explained, "I always have to feel in my gut what I can and can't do, what I will and won't do. And I was never going to do the spreads, if you pardon the expression." Parton said at one point that she wanted to do another Playboy cover when she was 75. (The country legend celebrated that birthday in 2021.) By that time, the magazine had already gone out of print, but she kept true to her word, putting a similar black bunny costume on and sharing her look in a video she posted on Instagram. The specific reason that she shared in the video was to celebrate the birthday of her longtime husband, Carl Dean, who passed away earlier this year. "I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy," Parton told her followers at the time. "He still thinks I'm a hot chick after 57 years and I'm not gonna try to talk him out of that." She added that he'd "always loved" the original 1978 cover, and in addition to wearing the costume for him in person, she did a special photo shoot for him, even gifting him a photo frame holding both the original cover and a new photo of her in the iconic black corset with matching black rabbit ears. Though she said Dean still thought she was a "hot chick" then, she told Playboy in 1978 that she'd never seen herself that way. "I never thought of myself as being a sex symbol," she said then. "It never crossed my mind that anybody might think I was sexy." She said she didn't want the "responsibility" of being sexy, and explained that while she does enjoy her "gaudy" looks, she doesn't find them sexy. If she were actually trying to look that way, she explained, she'd make different choices. "But why bother?" Parton asked. "I'm already married and he don't mind how I look. He likes me gaudy or ungaudy."
