The Pios rallied back throughout Saturday night's game against Newark, but ultimately fell 6-5. The Pilots stormed out of the gates, building on their 1st inning tally with a 3-run third. Elmira would finally answer in the 4th, as Brandon Doubek knocked Ty Martineau across for an RBI-single.

In the 5th, the Pioneers would match 2 more Newark runs, on a slick steal from John Simmons and an RBI sacrifice fly by Brendan Hammer. Over the next 3 frames, Elmira continued to chip away, scoring on a 6th inning walk, and an 8th inning base hit by Carl Wagner.
A stellar 2-hit, 3 inning outing by Casey Julkowski, set the Pios up with a shot win in walk-off fashion. In the bottom of the 9th, Aidan Grabowski laced a 2 out double, paired with walks from Martineau and T.J. Gramesty. With the bases loaded, Tanner Carranza sent a grounder near the gap, but the Pilots would corral it to seal the victory.
Elmira will look to rebound on the road, as they head to Geneva on Sunday. The Pioneers will battle the Red Wings with 1st pitch slated for 5:30 p.m.
In the NYCBL, the Horseheads Hitmen and Hornell Steamers each fell on the road. Horseheads dropped a 6-2 game against Olean, despite 3 hits and a run from Kazuto Matsuda. The Steamers fell 13-3 in 7 innings to Genesee. Horseheads will next host Hornell, Sunday at 2 p.m.
