Several years ago, it became painfully apparent that the general public had been misled by coach and player speak. Typically when things were said like, 'This is just another game' by the New York Giants organization, everyone just believed what they were being told. Year after year, however, something became obvious. The G-Men always seemed to circle their games vs. the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles and play a little harder when their arch rivals are on the other sideline. Everyone realizes that, right? Ladies and gentlemen, all games aren't created equally in the minds of NFL stars. That being said, let's discuss the reason for today's gathering: individual achievements in football. Several Giants Have Realistic Chance at Winning NFL Honor 'He'd trade every individual honor for team success.' Most have heard that stated before, right? Yep... That's another misguided theory. While it's true that most NFL stars care about their team and want to win, others want to get paid. As a matter of fact, all of them want to get paid. Make no mistake about it. There's nothing wrong with that. Football careers can end suddenly. Guys are trying to make their money and set their families up for life. Sure, there are players who would trade most of what they have for that elusive Super Bowl ring. There are also players who'd trade that Super Bowl for a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame if only one goal was achievable. Neither guy is wrong. What's the point? Thanks for asking the question. Much of that has been said to state the following. When contracts are hammered out at the negotiating table, guys talk about their resumes. When asking for the extension, it's always great to have some postseason accolades and a few feathers in the cap, and even though it's probably much too early to discuss this, several Giants have realistic chances of winning some of their own. Abdul Carter - Defensive Rookie of the Year The best pass rusher in the 2025 NFL Draft has made his home in the Big Apple. Much like Jared Verse a season ago, Abdul Carter is fully capable of taking the league by storm and making an instant impact. Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns (more on him in a second) are going to command much of the opposing offense's attention. That means Carter has a great opportunity to carve out some big moments and huge plays. Keep an eye on this rookie. He's going to be fun to watch for a very long time. Cam Skattebo - Offensive Rookie of the Year Came Skattebo entered the Giants offseason as, at best, the third running back on their depth chart. Trust this next statement. Cam Skattebo isn't going to be in that position long. He's going to climb the ranks. Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary are officially on notice. Cam can ball, and a memorable first run in the nation's biggest media market could lead to instant stardom and a lot of attention. Russell Wilson and/or Jameis Winston - Comeback Player of the Year Russell Wilson will probably win the starting job, but at this point in his career, there's no guarantee he's better than Jameis Winston. There's also no guarantee that Jameis is better than 'Dangeruss' either. Both are on the downward turn. Injuries can occur. So can poor performance. Who knows who will be starting by the midpoint of the season. The Giants are going to be on the wrong side of a few scoreboards, and that will force a desperate Brian Daboll to air it out often. If the ball bounces Big Blue's way a few times and New York can win a few games, one of these guys might gain some recognition. Heck, it happened for Geno Smith. Why can't it happen for either of these two? Brian Burns - NFL Defensive Player of the Year Micah McFadden checks all of the boxes for a Defensive MVP candidate, but for some reason, he often flies under the radar nationally. That seems impossible in a city like New York, but it is what it is. That's another story for another day. That being said, place an asterisk beside Brian Burns' name. He's the bigger draw, and these postseason awards shows can be popularity contests. He notched 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2024, and this could be a bigger year. If he cracks double-digit sacks and shows up in some big moments, New York's media engine could help spearhead a DPOY push. Don't count him out. This is why he was brought here, to be mentioned among the elite annually.

Philadelphia's All-Pro running back made waves for a golf outing with President Trump, attended the MET GALA, and served fans cheesesteaks at Geno's after landing the cover of Madden NFL 26. Barkley is loving life, but a recent interview has some Eagles fans nervous about the future. During the most recent edition of the 'Green Light with Chris Long,' Barkley hinted at a looming retirement. 'That's a great question. I'll probably be one of those guys that it would be out of nowhere. I would probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah, it's over.'' Barkley then referenced the legendary Barry Sanders, who walked away from the Detroit Lions and peacefully left millions on the table with his decision. Barkley's 2024 workload Likely still experiencing some fatigue, Barkley could spend the summer and training camp in bubble wrap after 482 total touches during the 17-game regular season and four-game jaunt to a Super Bowl. According to The Athletic, of the 11 running backs since 2000 with 400+ carries in a single season, none have finished inside the top 15 the following season. That list includes Derrick Henry, Jamal Lewis, and Shaun Alexander. Philadelphia signed A.J. Dillon in free agency, and Will Shipley is a talented dual-threat. With 13 picks in the 2026 NFL draft, the Eagles could add another rusher next year. Barry Sanders affect Sanders rushed for 2,053 yards in 1997, and then the Lions running back only played one more season before walking away. An Eagles repeat could set the table for Barkley to exit stage left, or the running back could play out the deal, ensuring ten years in the NFL. Financial implications Barkley led the charge for running backs to be paid more, and the Eagles running back reset the market entirely, becoming the highest-paid ball carrier in NFL history. According to Adam Schefter, the two-year, $41.2 million deal makes Barkley the NFL's first $20+ million a year running back and the highest paid at the position in league history. According to Over The Cap, the extension creates $1,332,000 in salary cap space. Timetable As long as Barkley maintains his elite status, he'll be around until 2027 at the earliest. Barkley's salary isn't guaranteed for 2028, and he has a void year established for 2029 when he'll be 32 years old and count $31 million against the salary cap. The new contract is fully guaranteed for $36 million at the time of signing. The full guarantee includes Barkley's 2025 and 2026 salaries, workout bonuses, and option bonuses. $2.5 million is guaranteed in 2027. Another $15 million in incentives is available.

Tom Brady Releases GOAT Gummies
Tom Brady may have retired from playing football (twice!), but the man is clearly not looking to sit back, polish the seven Super Bowl rings he's won over his incredible 23-year NFL career, and relax. There is no "chill switch" on the all-time winningest quarterback in NFL history. Tom, as most people know, is extremely serious about nutrition, but he let his hair down (and took his shirt off) to get the word out about GOAT Gummies. You're a Jet fan. That must have been rough growing up. Holy cow. But you know what? I appreciate your loyalty. You never left them. There's something to be said for that. Talking about preparing for a football game, you've described yourself as "hyper competitive" and "a psychopath." Is that the same way you approach business? Actually, no. That's what I need help with. And that's why I have business partners who are psychopaths. They cross every t and dot the i's. I approached football in a very different way — I was into the nuances of the sport I understood so well. And I'm realizing that in business, those details are what matter, too. Especially against tough competition. Partnering with great people in the end is what matters the most. You've got to bet on people who have vision, experience, a great work ethic, and great teamwork. And you know that in business, just like sports, things don't always go your way. So you're always going to have to figure out ways to overcome adversity and beat the competition. You don't want to spend all the time looking in the rearview mirror, but you'd better understand and learn from all your mistakes. And, you know, that windshield up ahead of you is big and wide, and that's where you need to focus, but also know that there are always people tracking you down. And it's the same way in sports. You've got to stay ahead, don't ever think you've got all the answers and things are figured out. I spoke with Shaquille O'Neal recently about how he set the tone in the locker room when he went to a new team. He said, "I tell them to do things my way or I'll punch them in the face." What's the Tom Brady approach? Well, I'm not 7' 2" and 350 pounds, so it's not necessarily my style. Mine is probably to introduce myself and to get to know the other person so that they can develop some trust in the way that I see things as well. I think there's a collaboration. It's always about understanding what people want and their motivations. That's what teamwork's all about. And that only comes from trust and shared experience. What does the word success mean to you? I think everyone has different versions of that. And your actions reflect your priorities. Everyone has different goals in life. Some people want to win seven Super Bowls, some people want to be in business, some people want to be in politics. When you wake up, whatever priorities you have, do you work your day toward what you want to accomplish? Do you eat, breathe and sleep it? And if it's an off day, is it a good off day? And if it's a travel day, is it a good travel day? So I think those are all the important things. And no punching anybody in the face.
