Teen girl and brother who died on family holiday in Spain are named
Two siblings from Birmingham tragically lost their lives at sea while on a family holiday in Spain, their aunt has confirmed.
Ameiya, 13, and her 11 year old brother, Ricardo Junior, from Erdington, sadly drowned during a family trip to Salou. Emergency services were summoned to Llarga beach, near Tarragona, just after 8.45pm on 29 July, according to Catalonia's Civil Protection agency.
The "beautiful" and "bright" siblings received treatment following the tragic incident at sea but unfortunately did not survive.
Their aunt, Kayla Jasvinder Del-Brocco, confirmed that her niece and nephew tragically got into difficulty in the water and were swept away from the beach by strong currents, reports Birmingham Live.
"They went out to swim together with their dad as they loved the beach," Kayla said. "Mum said 'don't be long' and took her little one to the bathroom.
"She came back out and couldn't see anyone. That's when the nightmare commenced." Kayla described Ameiya as "athletic, driven, motherly with her siblings, sarcastic and unique".
"Ricardo Junior was kind, loving and helpful," she added. "He wanted to be a YouTuber and would do anything for a few quid. He doted on his mum."
Holly stated: "During what was meant to be a joyful family holiday in Salou, Spain, Ameiya and Ricardo Junior, lovingly known to their family and friends as Maya and Jubs, heartbreakingly lost their lives in a tragic incident at sea.
"Two beautiful, bright, and deeply loved children, taken far too soon. The pain their family is feeling is unimaginable. This fundraiser has been created to help ease some of the financial burden the family is now facing, covering the costs of bringing Maya and Jubs home to the UK and giving them the dignified farewell they deserve.
"We know that no amount of money can make this right. But together, we can help carry some of the weight."

During his time in the villa, Cach became known for showing his emotions and admitted that while things can be 'heightened' on the set of the realty show, he has no regrets about the way things were shown. He said: "It was different for me. I feel like being in the villa feelings are heightened to, like, so high. Your emotions just end up coming out and it's kind of hard to hide. In certain situations, it's hard to act like the cool guy, and as you guys saw it came out of me. Certain situations fazed me. But I loved the experience, I don't take back anything that I did in there or how I come across. I come out with such good comments on social media and stuff. " Cach and Toni first laid eyes on each other during Casa Amor, and although they struck up an instant connection, it was obvious Toni's heart was still with Harrison. Harrison, however, had shared kisses with Helena in the main villa, leaving Toni with no option to explore, adamant that Harrison would be doing the same. Of course, he did as he returned to the main villa with Lauren. The pair were glued to each other's hips, but Harrison continued to have flirty conversations with Toni. Harrison then persuaded Toni to couple up with him at the next recoupling, leaving Cach in tears in scenes that moved the nation. It's one of those Fringe successes people dream of mimicking. Since debuting in Edinburgh in 2014, Duncan Macmillan Every Brilliant Thing – co-written with its original star Jonny Donahoe – has earned rave reviews, been translated into numerous languages, including Spanish, Greek, and Mandarin, and performed all across the globe. Last year, it returned to the Fringe for a triumphant victory lap marking its tenth anniversary. But until now, this strangely uplifting show about depression had never received a West End run — perhaps because it was always deemed too intimate to upscale. If there's any larger venue fit to house Macmillan's mini masterpiece, it is @sohoplace. In a co-production between Macmillan and Jeremy Herrin, the play is once again performed in-the-round, with the audience on all sides encouraged to join in and play their part. Over the course of its three-month stint, Donahoe, Ambika Mod, Sue Perkins and Minnie Driver will all take the lead role, but tonight's performer is Lenny Henry. Dressed in a colourful patterned shirt, he sends smiles soaring across the crowd from the outset. Still, in the larger space, it's harder to build the same rapport. With a much greater capacity and the audience spread across three tiers, creating the world of the play feels less like a communal endeavour and more the responsibility of a select few. Henry is a gentle guide: first as the seven-year-old boy desperate to show his mum – who has depression – all the goodness in the world, and then as his older self, who has his own 'black dog' following him too. Physically, he shrinks into a childlike form before stretching into an awkward adult, all the while steering the evening as our host. He makes light jabs at audience members, restarts scenes when things go awry, and makes us laugh repeatedly. Shaped around the boy's initial desire to write a list of 1,000 brilliant things in the world, the play is deeply heartwarming. As he grows up, the list grows even longer, featuring everything from 'ice cream', 'knowing someone so well they can check your teeth for broccoli', and 'the word goggles' to 'the smell of old books'. Taken as a whole, the play is a lesson in noticing the wonder in life's small things. The conversation about mental health has moved on since 2014, and some lines, like 'things will get better' can gloss over unique circumstances and specific contexts. Nevertheless, the play's message still lands today. For all its sorrow, the play gleams with hope. It is a truly brilliant thing.
