John Cena Reveals One Thing He Never Did In WWE

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. As he embarks on the final months of his legendary career, John Cena has reiterated his long-standing professional philosophy. In a new interview, the 17-time world champion claimed that in his 23 years with WWE, he has "never once chosen his opponent." The comments come just over a week after the shocking return of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Lesnar attacked Cena, setting the stage for a massive final chapter in their historic rivalry. John Cena "I've Never Once Chosen My Opponent" Speaking with Justin Barrasso of The Boston Herald, Cena was asked about the possibility of Brock Lesnar being one of his final opponents. He used the opportunity to explain his career-long mindset. "I've been doing this for 23 years, and I've never once chosen my opponent," Cena said. "I've always lived by the philosophy that life will give you opportunities every single day, and you have to do the best you can every single day with what life gives you. So whoever challenges me for that last match, I'm going to give it my best shot." Cena's humble statement directly contradicts comments made by WWE's Chief Content Officer, Triple H. At the post-SummerSlam press conference, Triple H himself stated that Brock Lesnar's controversial return was at the top of "John Cena's wishlist" for his 2025 farewell tour. Is Cena simply being the ultimate professional and maintaining his "company man" persona, or was Triple H using Cena's name to justify the divisive decision to bring Lesnar back? The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle. John Cena: Ultimate "Company Man" For two decades, John Cena has been known for his incredible work ethic and his unwavering loyalty to WWE. As the face of the company, he maintained a grueling 300+ days-a-year schedule. His philosophy of taking on any and all challengers and doing whatever the company asks of him is a key part of his legendary reputation. His latest comments are a perfect example of this persona. Even during his final run, where most legends would be hand-picking their dream opponents for a farewell tour, Cena is publicly stating that he is simply playing the part he has been given to the best of his ability. Seth Rogen Opens the Door to Long-Requested Sequel of Beloved Comedy

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Back before Seth Rogen was appearing in shows like "The Studio" and "Platonic," he had a stretch of great comedies. One such comedy is "Pineapple Express," which showcases a stoner action comedy that thrusts a pair of friends into unraveling a gang war. More news: 'Nobody 2' Reviews Are Overwhelmingly One-Sided Rogen stars in the film as Dale Denton, a process server who unknowingly becomes best friends with drug dealer Saul Silver (James Franco). The comedy was written by Rogen, Judd Apatow, and Rogen's longtime collaborator, Evan Goldberg. The Rated-R stoner comedy made just over $101 million at the worldwide box office on a reported budget of $26 million. The 2008 comedy became one of Rogen's most beloved features and has since been talked about for years regarding a sequel. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 14: Seth Rogen attends Vulture Festival 2021 at The Hollywood Roosevelt on November 14, 2021 in Los Angeles, news: David Corenswet Makes Pitch to be in 'Batman' Movie in BTS 'Superman' Clip Rogen stated back in 2020 on the Howard Stern Show that a sequel was pitched, but Sony "had no interest in it." Also, the film was highlighted as a fake sequel in Rogen's "This Is The End," which was released in 2013. Now, Rogen has opened the door again on a potential "Pineapple Express 2," after a fan question about the potential for a sequel led to an interesting response from the actor and producer. Rogen told Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" that the sequel could potentially happen. "Maybe," Rogen said. "We can probably sell it to streaming or something." Cohen also noted that the sequel has been asked about a lot, to which Rogen replied with, "There could be. You never know. I don't know. I'm not great with sequels. It's not where my mind goes, but maybe one day." Interestingly, a sequel would mean that Rogen and Franco would work together again, as the pair had a falling out due to allegations levied against Franco in 2018. Regardless of the pair no longer being friends, this development could lead to studios potentially reaching out to get the talks going for a "Pineapple Express 2." Comedy sequels are often a bit tricky regarding the years between when the first one was made, but there are some that have been enjoying success. Take "Happy Gilmore 2," for instance. The Adam Sandler-led comedy exploded on Netflix, which could be a big reason why Rogen stated his sequel could be successful on streaming. Either way, it would be interesting to see if Rogen and Apatow could reuntie for a sequel to one of their most beloved collaborations. For more movie news, head to Newsweek Movies.

DC to Bring Back 'Batman Beyond' With New Series

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors There is one Batman property that fans have loved since it arrived, and that is "Batman Beyond." The neo-futurist storyline showcases Terry McGinnis as Batman, often with the guidance of a much older and grizzled Bruce Wayne. More news: James Gunn Directing DC's Next 'Super-Family' Movie The world was introduced to "Batman Beyond" during the animated series created by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Alan Burnett. The series ran for three seasons and covered 52 episodes. The show featured Will Friedle as Terry McGinnis and Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne. Following the success of the series, several comics were introduced that showcased the return of McGinnis, including the long-running series from 1999 to 2016, and "Batman Beyond: Neo-Year" and "Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic." Now, DC is set to bring back McGinnis in a brand-new six-issue miniseries, but this time he is joined by another fan-favorite DC futuristic character, Static. DC DC has officially announced "Batman/Static: Beyond," which will feature McGinnis and Virgil Hawkins, the electrifying architect of Dakota City's future. The series is launching this fall under the DC Elseworlds imprint, and pairs writer Evan Narcisse with visionary artist Nikolas Draper-Ivey. Terry McGinnis in 'Batman Beyond' Terry McGinnis in 'Batman Beyond' Warner Bros More news: Exclusive: Christian Ward Details 'Event Horizon' Prequel Series The plot for the first issue is as follows: "In the debut issue, Terry McGinnis patrols the neon-lit streets of Neo-Gotham while Virgil Hawkins pioneers a technological revolution with the launch of the Q-Wave Energy Grid. As Earth prepares to join a powerful interplanetary alliance called the Cooperative, the Justice League Beyond stands ready to usher in a new era of peace. But when a mysterious villain triggers a global blackout, the planet's future hangs in the balance. With technology crippled and chaos rising, Static and Batman Beyond must forge an unlikely alliance and take a grounded approach to saving the world before it's too late." Narcisse offered comments on taking on this new Batman/Static: "I loved the dynamic Nik set up between Static and Batman in the Milestone 30th Anniversary Special where these characters first teamed up with each other," said Evan Narcisse, "and the most exciting part of this new project has been exploring how different Terry and Virgil are from each other." Nikolas Draper-Ivey also revealed the excitement behind this huge DC team-up: "This story is intended to be a commentary on our overreliance on technology and the imminent dangers becoming complacent and too comfortable using AI to substitute our own imagination and human ingenuity," continued Nikolas Draper-Ivey. "We now use our watches to find our phones, we use our phones to connect to everything else. We don't rely on our own memories. We rely on technology to remember for us. That deeply concerns me. I worry that we are getting to a point where if all these things were to be suddenly taken away from us in an instant—at the rate we're going now, humanity will be at a huge disadvantage." DC Elseworlds "Batman/Static: Beyond" is launching on November 12, 2025, but there is also a collected edition scheduled for release on August 4, 2026."
