There is one Batman property that fans have loved since it arrived, and that is "Batman Beyond." The neo-futurist storyline showcases Terry McGinnis as Batman, often with the guidance of a much older and grizzled Bruce Wayne.

The world was introduced to "Batman Beyond" during the animated series created by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Alan Burnett. The series ran for three seasons and covered 52 episodes. The show featured Will Friedle as Terry McGinnis and Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne.
Following the success of the series, several comics were introduced that showcased the return of McGinnis, including the long-running series from 1999 to 2016, and "Batman Beyond: Neo-Year" and "Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic."
Now, DC is set to bring back McGinnis in a brand-new six-issue miniseries, but this time he is joined by another fan-favorite DC futuristic character, Static.

The series is launching this fall under the DC Elseworlds imprint, and pairs writer Evan Narcisse with visionary artist Nikolas Draper-Ivey.

The plot for the first issue is as follows:
"In the debut issue, Terry McGinnis patrols the neon-lit streets of Neo-Gotham while Virgil Hawkins pioneers a technological revolution with the launch of the Q-Wave Energy Grid. As Earth prepares to join a powerful interplanetary alliance called the Cooperative, the Justice League Beyond stands ready to usher in a new era of peace. But when a mysterious villain triggers a global blackout, the planet's future hangs in the balance. With technology crippled and chaos rising, Static and Batman Beyond must forge an unlikely alliance and take a grounded approach to saving the world before it's too late."
Narcisse offered comments on taking on this new Batman/Static:
"I loved the dynamic Nik set up between Static and Batman in the Milestone 30th Anniversary Special where these characters first teamed up with each other," said Evan Narcisse, "and the most exciting part of this new project has been exploring how different Terry and Virgil are from each other."
Nikolas Draper-Ivey also revealed the excitement behind this huge DC team-up:
"This story is intended to be a commentary on our overreliance on technology and the imminent dangers becoming complacent and too comfortable using AI to substitute our own imagination and human ingenuity," continued Nikolas Draper-Ivey. "We now use our watches to find our phones, we use our phones to connect to everything else. We don't rely on our own memories. We rely on technology to remember for us. That deeply concerns me. I worry that we are getting to a point where if all these things were to be suddenly taken away from us in an instant—at the rate we're going now, humanity will be at a huge disadvantage."
DC Elseworlds "Batman/Static: Beyond" is launching on November 12, 2025, but there is also a collected edition scheduled for release on August 4, 2026."

The former Women's World Champion, who has been out of action since June with a dislocated shoulder, will likely be on the sidelines for several more months. According to a new report from PWInsider, Morgan was scheduled for a fresh evaluation of her surgically repaired shoulder this week. The company remains hopeful that she will be back in action in early 2026. WWE "Revenge Tour" Derailed Liv Morgan suffered the injury on the June 16th edition of Monday Night Raw. The dislocated shoulder required surgery and brought her career-best run to a sudden and unfortunate halt. At the time of her injury, Morgan was at the peak of her popularity. She had spent the previous year on an incredible "Revenge Tour," a storyline that saw her transform into a more aggressive and chaotic character, leading to a reign as the Women's World Champion. WWE Creative Domino Effect Morgan's injury could not have come at a worse time, as it forced WWE to scrap several major plans for the summer. This included a planned program against the returning Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, which was slated for the all-women's Evolution premium live event in July. She and her partner, Raquel Rodriguez, were the reigning champions. Morgan was replaced by NXT's Roxanne Perez, and the new team went on to lose the titles to Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. A Potential WWE Royal Rumble Return While Liv Morgan's road to recovery continues, many fans are already looking ahead to January. A surprise return as an entrant in the 2026 Women's Royal Rumble match is a classic WWE comeback story and would be the perfect stage for the beloved star to make her triumphant return. A Royal Rumble victory would instantly launch her back into the main event picture, setting her on a path to a championship match at WrestleMania. For now, however, her focus remains on rehabilitation. Liv is one of WWE's biggest female stars and would be a welcomed addition back to the roster once she's medically cleared to go. You'll punch the air from excitement but cry from how deeply tragic it is." Unless something bizarre happens with the final chapters of Season 2, Peacemaker is shaping up to be another very successful entry in James Gunn's new DCU. Our Season 2, Episodes 1 - 5 review: — IGN (@IGN) August 15, 2025 IGN reviewed the first five episodes, giving ghe new season an 8/10. "From what we've seen so far, the story of Christopher Smith and the 11th Street Kids is built around the truth of these characters. The way each of them handles the circumstances is as honest to who they are as it is riddled with creative profanity and soaked in comically drawn blood. While this season might not throw your hair back the way Season 1 did, these characters are still a blast to be around, even if it is more of the same." #Peacemaker Season 2: seen the first five episodes, and I love it! Much funnier and more violent than S1, but also far more mature in its storytelling, backed by terrific work from its cast once again (John Cena at his best). Expands the DCU in fascinating ways too. Great stuff. — Shaurya Chawla (@_ShauryaChawla) August 15, 2025 Shaurya Chawla states: "#Peacemaker Season 2: seen the first five episodes, and I love it! Great stuff." PEACEMAKER Season 2: a little slow burn, but ultimately worth the watch. Smith and Harcourt's relationship gets more needed complexity, but the rest of the 11th Street Kids are hilarious as ever. Action rocks as Season 2 leans more into DCU absurdity and vulgarity. #Peacemaker — Chris Gallardo - Reel Roller (@chrisagwrites) August 15, 2025 Chris Gallardo writes: "PEACEMAKER Season 2: a little slow burn, but ultimately worth the watch. Action rocks as Season 2 leans more into DCU absurdity and vulgarity. #Peacemaker" Though most of the reviews written for the first season are regarding the first five episodes, all are stating that there is even more violence and absurdity to love about the new "Peacemaker" chapter. Basically, if you loved the first season of Cena's crude hero, you are likely to love the new season. For more streaming news, head to Newsweek Streaming.

Former WWE Champion Blasts CM Punk During Scathing Rant

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Former WWE star Matt Riddle has taken another dig at CM Punk, and his latest comments criticize the Raw star's current in-ring ability. The former United States Champion has been outspoken about his feelings towards Punk since leaving WWE. Riddle, who was released in September 2023 due to unprofessional conduct, reaffirmed his stance on a new podcast. He doubled down on his claim that his former colleagues find the "Best in the World" difficult to work with. Matt Riddle: "Not Good At Fighting" Speaking on TMZ's Inside The Ring Podcast, Matt Riddle criticized CM Punk's wrestling abilities at the age of 46. He also claimed that he has heard from friends still on the WWE roster that Punk remains a "bitch to work with." "I have good friends on the roster that still say he's a bitch to work with," Riddle said. He did, however, acknowledge Punk's value to the company. "If he didn't generate the amount of money and attention that he does, he wouldn't be there," he admitted. "Kudos to him, the guy packs an arena, he sells tickets, he sells merchandise." LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 19: CM Punk (L) and Paul Heyman look on during Punk's Triple Threat match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. More Despite acknowledging the recent praise for Punk's matches, including his acclaimed bout with GUNTHER at SummerSlam, Riddle is not impressed. "I just don't think he's, well, good at fighting," he stated. "I think his better days of wrestling are way behind him." WWE History of Animosity This is not the first time Matt Riddle has taken a shot at CM Punk. The one-sided beef dates back years, with Riddle frequently calling out Punk for a potential MMA or wrestling match, which Punk has consistently ignored. When Punk made his shocking return to WWE in November 2023, Riddle took to social media to mock his 0-2 UFC record. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A Controversial WWE Career Riddle's critique of another star's professionalism is ironic given the circumstances of his own WWE career. He was one of the most popular stars on the roster during his tag team run with Randy Orton as RK-Bro. However, his tenure was marked by multiple wellness policy violations and a series of public, unprofessional incidents. The final straw was a controversial incident at JFK Airport in 2023, which led to his release from the company. While he was a talented performer, his own actions ultimately cost him his spot as a top star in WWE. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
