Coronation Street's Sam Aston skates into Dancing on Ice semi-final

Yahoo24-02-2025

Rawtenstall actor, Sam Aston, has skated his way into the Dancing on Ice semi-finals.
The Coronation Street actor impressed judges, securing his highest score on the ITV competition so far.
Sam and his partner Molly Lanaghan danced to I'd Do Anything, from Oliver!
On the show, Sam said: 'I am playing the Artful Dodger. He is a cheeky chappy and always up to no good.
'I can relate to the Artful Dodger. I am the youngest of nine and we got up to all sorts of mischief, including putting ham in our socks to try and train the cat to claw peoples' ankles.
'It's a great one to get into character with but I am also going to really concentrate on the steps as well.'
After being given a score of 37 and placing third on the leaderboard, Sam said: 'Honestly it was so much fun. I have enjoyed this week the most.
"Going into it I wasn't sure about musicals but I had an absolute blast.'
The Traitors star Mollie Pearce left the competition on Sunday night (February 24).
Sam will perform again on Sunday, in the semi-finals of the show.
Anton Ferdinand, Dan Edgar, and Michaela Strachan are also in the running for the Dancing on Ice trophy.

Stephen Mulhern makes unprecedented blunder on ITV's Catchphrase

Game show host Stephen Mulhern sent celebrity contestants into hysterics with a rare blunder while hosting ITV's Catchphrase. The show, which asks contestants to identify a well-known phrase or idiom based on a short animated clip, featured Jeremy Vine, Charlie Hedges and comedian Luke Kempner on the latest episode. At one point, a clip was shown depicting pastries with escalating price tags, which are then shown bursting through the roof of the building. Narrating the clip in an effort to encourage answers, Mulhern remarked: 'Literally, the prices have gone through the roof!' However, he quickly realised that he had given away the answer in its entirety. 'Sorry, what? Was that the answer?' said Jeremy Vine, after buzzing in. 😱 @StephenMulhern makes a HUGE mistake - for the first time in 10 years! — Catchphrase (@Catchphrase) June 7, 2025 "I have never in my life done that. In 10 years!" Mulhern said, with his head in his hands. 'I was just thinking 'this is a very tricky one, if it's not that!' added Kempner, who then joked that Mulhern had taken his prize money tally up to £200. Vine remarked that the incident represented 'a bit of Catchphrase history'. Catchphrase first began in 1986 and was hosted by Irish comedian Roy Walker. He was succeeded by Nick Weir in 2000, and Mark Curry in 2002 before the series was cancelled that year. Mulhern began hosting the revival in 2012, which initially involved members of the public as contestants. Since 2018, the programme has featured celebrity contestants, who compete to win money for charity. Celebrity Catchphrase was recently renewed for an 11th series on ITV. ITV commissioner Gemma John-Lewis said: 'We're delighted to announce a further series of the much-loved family favourite, Celebrity Catchphrase. 'The only show where you say what you see, the hugely popular series continues to win legions of fans and with Stephen's infectious and playful humour it's a firm favourite with our viewers.'

Coronation Street reveals first look at Platt house changes as Maria and Lou clash

spoilers follow. Coronation Street has revealed a first look at the changes to the Platt house as the tension between Maria Connor and Lou Michaelis escalates. The iconic house was destroyed back in February as the ITV soap introduced a dramatic storyline, with the property being engulfed in flames after a mystery arsonist pushed a petrol-soaked rag through the letterbox. After a brief whodunnit storyline, it was eventually revealed that Max Turner was the hooded individual who had set fire to the house, with the teenager reasoning that a potential insurance pay-out would alleviate David's financial worries. Months on from the drama, which saw Max imprisoned for six and a half years, the iconic house at No.8 has been steadily rebuilt, with the new-look style set to be unveiled in next week's scenes. Related: In a new teaser clip, viewers can see the renovated house in all its glory, with the interior design boasting darker colours than before. The wall between the living room and the kitchen looks to have been removed, making for a tad more space. The teaser also depicts the growing tension between Maria and Lou, who had previously worked together at the salon before the latter was sacked. Reeling from the loss of her job, Lou later shared a drink with Maria's husband Gary, enraging Maria even further. In Friday's (13 June) scenes, which are shown in the clip, both Maria and Lou are invited to the Platt household to celebrate the rebuilding, with several Weatherfield residents gathering for a barbecue. Related: Lou begins to rummage around in somebody's belongings, briefly considering stealing a wad of cash before coming to her senses. Maria, however, comes in at the wrong time, demanding Lou empty her pockets as she brands her a "thieving cow". "You can't tell me what to do," responds Lou, who promptly tries to leave. Maria isn't having any of it, however, as she remains adamant that her adversary has stolen something. The pair begin to grapple, but what will the consequences be? Coronation Street fuels fan theory over Daniel's new love interest

follow from , which is available to watch now on ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1. Coronation Street has fuelled a key fan theory over Daniel Osbourne's new relationship storyline. Fans are busy speculating over who Daniel's next girlfriend will be, after actor Rob Mallard shared a new storyline teaser with us on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards last week. With the news that Daniel could be moving on from Bethany Platt and Daisy Midgeley, some viewers have started to wonder whether Dee-Dee Bailey could be the lady in question. With interesting timing, Dee-Dee shares scenes with Daniel in tonight's episode as they have an unexpected heart-to-heart at the Bistro. Related: When Daniel's friend cancels lunch plans, Dee-Dee invites him to join her at her table instead. Daniel takes the opportunity to share his concerns over local teens Dylan Wilson and Brody Michaelis, who are butting heads after their tense time together in the Secure Training Centre. Meanwhile, Dee-Dee speaks to Daniel on how she's feeling following her decision to give away her baby daughter Laila to her brother James. Could this unexpected friendship be an early red herring – or a sign of things to come? Related: In his exclusive chat with us at the British Soap Awards, Rob explained: "I'm not allowed to say anything too specific, but sure enough, he'll be falling for another woman. He'll be falling head over heels again. When that happens, I'm not too sure. "And he's gone back to work at the school. We've got all the kids in the show, and with the age that they're at with the storylines, I should be involved with the younger cast a bit more." Asked whether Daniel will learn from his previous romantic mistakes, Rob laughed: "No, he can't! He's Ken's son, isn't he? Everything's got to be a mess all the time. "So I'm expecting just more chaotic relationships, just over and over and over again."Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
