'Little Municipal Village' Opens in Riffa to Teach Kids About Waste Sorting and Cleanliness Laws
As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting environmental awareness and a culture of cleanliness, the Southern Municipality has launched a fun and educational event for children called 'Little Municipal Village', in collaboration with the Southern Municipal Council. Held at Oasis Mall in Riffa, the week-long event runs from Saturday, July 12 to Friday, July 18, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM daily, as part of the 'Southern Summer' activities. The initiative aims to teach young children the importance of keeping their surroundings clean, sorting waste, and embracing recycling habits. The launch was attended by Eng. Isa Abdulrahman Al Buainain, Director General of the Southern Municipality, Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim Abdullatif, Chairman of the Municipal Council, and several partners including Adnan Al Malki, Chairman of Dar Al Manar for Elderly Care, Sandeep Narain, Regional Manager of Oasis Mall, and Junaid Methal, Mall and Leasing Manager. The event features a variety of interactive and educational zones tailored for kids, including workshops, storytelling corners, educational talks, and short awareness films—all designed to instill eco-friendly values from a young age. Bahrain: Poet Jailed Over Verbal Abuse
A prominent poet in the Kingdom has been sentenced to six months in prison in a high-profile verbal abuse case filed by a Bahraini singer. The verdict came after the Criminal Court of Appeal overturned a previous acquittal and imposed the custodial sentence. The court also issued a restraining order, prohibiting the poet from contacting the claimant in any form. The case drew significant public interest due to the stature of both parties involved. Lawyer Al Rumaihi, representing the singer, stated that his client had endured repeated verbal abuse and took legal action to safeguard her dignity and reputation. 'The court reversed the earlier ruling and sentenced the defendant to six months in prison,' he said. 'It also barred her from approaching or communicating with my client.'
