Hugh Jackman waves down stranger to flee terrifying fan frenzy

Daily Mail19-06-2025
A desperate hopped into a random stranger's car to escape a throng of screaming fans in New York City this week.
The 56-year-old was seen emerging from Radio City Music Hall, where he will play his From New York With Love concert on Friday.
He was immediately confronted by crowd of admirers shrieking with delight and asking for autographs, and he amiably complied, grinning and chatting with them.
Eventually Hugh said: 'Thank you,' and extricated himself from the mass of people before walking briskly down the sidewalk in an apparent attempt to make a quick exit.
However, the actor was unable to avoid the overenthusiastic admirers who continued scampering up to him and demanding photos, which he agreed to take, though his smile began to tighten and he kept walking as he posed.
In the end, his only way out was to wave down a strange man's car and say: 'How you doing, brother? Where you going?,' before sliding rapidly into the backseat.
On the personal front, a source claimed earlier this year that Hugh hopes to marry his girlfriend and former Broadway co-star Sutton Foster, 50.
Sutton and Hugh starred in the Broadway revival of The Music Man together throughout 2022, and were rumored to have conducted an extramarital affair that led to his split from his wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023.
Meanwhile Sutton filed for divorce from her husband, Ocean's Eleven screenwriter Ted Griffin, in October 2024 after 10 years of marriage.
Last month, after officially filing for divorce, Deborra-Lee gave an exclusive statement to DailyMail.com in which she took an wipe at her estranged husband.
She said: 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she said. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.
'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.
'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.'
Deborra-Lee noted that the 'one thing' she learned was 'that none of this is personal' and that 'We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random.'
Deborra-Lee concluded: 'We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves...I remain grateful.'
Sutton and Hugh went public with their romance in January, and it has since been claimed that he intends to marry her once his divorce is finalized.
Speaking to Sky News an insider said: 'Hugh had a lot of back and forth while he was in Australia for the holidays but ultimately, he realized how much he missed her.
'The magic came flooding back when they reunited and ultimately marriage is the end game for these two. Hugh is clear he wants to make Sutton his wife.'
Deborra-Lee and Hugh met in 1995 on the Australian television series Corelli, and he proposed four months later, marrying her in 1996 and welcoming two children with her, their son Oscar, 25, and their daughter Ava, 19.

Last week, while appearing on boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, Taylor announced the arrival of her 12th studio album, set to drop on October 3. Of course, with the announcement came the reveal of the album cover and accompanying artwork, which showed the Lover singer draped in all different kinds of diamonds and jewels. The album cover for The Life of a Showgirl features Taylor posing underwater, wearing a silver bedazzled bodysuit with intricate cutouts along the stomach. On her wrist, Taylor donned a $32,000 vintage bracelet by jeweler Stephanie Gottlieb, which contains four strands stacked together. The bracelet features multicolored diamonds, and it appears that Taylor chose to stack it with a thick diamond bangle. In another photo for the album, which shows Taylor wearing a sultry bodysuit while draped over a chair, she sported Ethos Maria's ruby drop earrings, which are a whopping 38.88 carats. Her other art for the track list has the pop star in tons of diamonds made by Lorraine Schwartz, which is one of Taylor's favorite jewelers. Of course, the 'T' was in honor of her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She rocked multiple custom pieces by the designer in the album photoshoot, like 'sculptural drop earrings, pavé diamond cuffs, a bold pink pearl ring, and a sapphire-and-diamond bracelet,' according to experts. 'On the cover and throughout the promo images of The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift shines in a dazzling constellation of extraordinary jewels, each piece chosen with the meticulous eye of a true curator of glamour,' Maxwell Stone, of jewelry company Steven Stone, said. 'Her signature style is unmistakably elevated by Lorraine Schwartz, whose custom creations she has remained loyal to over the years,' Steven continued. 'From sculptural triangular drop earrings and pavé diamond cuffs to a bold pink pearl ring and a timeless sapphire-and-diamond bracelet, Schwartz's artistry frames Taylor not merely as a showgirl, but as a reigning queen of sophistication.' Taylor also wore butterfly-inspired diamond studs by Anabela Chan in the artwork, as well as Le Vian's Art Deco-inspired Vanilla Gold ring, Stone said. 'Together, these jewels create a symphony of sparkle, turning Taylor into the ultimate crown jewel of The Life of a Showgirl,' he shared. But interestingly enough, it seems like Taylor didn't wear any Cartier jewelry in the promotional material for her new album. Cartier appears to be one of her favorite jewelry brands, as she has donned multiple pieces by the company in the past. In fact, when she appeared on New Heights last week, she sported a Panthère de Cartier Necklace from the famed Cartier, which features their signature panther in gold. Taylor's version of the necklace was encrusted with diamonds, and it will cost you a pretty penny at $22,500.

Game to love! Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz hit the court for long-awaited US Open mixed doubles pairing in $1m tournament amid relationship rumours

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz have taken to the court on Arthur Ashe in New York in a bid to start their hotly anticipated US Open mixed doubles campaign against familiar opposition - fellow British No1 Jack Draper. The two former US Open champions' partnership was the most star-studded of those announced with the new-look event's launch two weeks ago, with their pairing sparking speculation over their relationship status after Raducanu was pictured taking in Alcaraz's successful run at Queen's in June. Both Raducanu and Alcaraz have spoken of their excitement about playing with one another, with the British No1 paying tribute to their 'genuine connection' on court. Newly minted Cincinnati Open champion Alcaraz echoed Raducanu's delight saying that he planned to let her be 'the boss' in their partnership when they eventually step on to court. As they made their way on to court, Alcaraz and Raducanu looked up for the challenge, laughing and talking to one another as they soaked up the applause of the crowd. Raducanu and Alcaraz's pairing - dubbed Raducaraz by some fans - has come about after the American Grand Slam decided to entirely revamp their mixed doubles competition. The British No1 will be keen to nab her second Grand Slam title in the $1million tournament Instead of looking to attempt the top doubles players in the format, top singles players were encouraged to pair up with their peers for a shot at the eye-popping $1million prize. The event is taking place at US Open fan week, six days before focus will inevitably switch to their singles commitments, with both Arthur Ashe and second show court Louis Armstrong packed to the rafters with spectators keen for a glimpse of some of the world's top players. Among the similarly glittering pairings are world No2 Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams and her compatriot Reilly Opelka, Raducanu and Alcaraz's opponent Draper and his partner, last year's US Open finalist Jessica Pegula, who are the tournament's No1 seeds. But the competition has been mired in chaos ahead of its first matches on Tuesday morning, with a number of high profile stars forced to withdraw due to injuries and scheduling concerns. World No1 Aryna Sabalenka withdrew along with her partner Grigor Dimitrov following his heartbreaking injury at Wimbledon earlier this summer, and Draper was forced to change partners not once but twice after both Zheng Qinwen and Paula Badosa were also sidelined. In the tournament's latest - and most high-profile withdrawal - world No1 and US Open defending champion Jannik Sinner withdrew at the 11th hour on Monday afternoon, after he was forced to retire in the final of the Cincinnati Open due to illness. Alcaraz's continued participation, along with fellow Cincinnati champion Swiatek, has come as some surprise, with both players only landing in New York at 12.50am on Monday evening after flying in from Ohio via private jet. The 22-year-old admitted in his post-final press conference that there was almost nothing that would stop him playing with Raducanu. 'The scheduling isn't the best, playing tomorrow... but the concept of the tournament I love it,' Alcaraz said. 'I'm going to have so much fun playing with Emma. 'It's going to be tough playing against Draper and Pegula, but I will try to enjoy it as much as I can. The 22-year-old took in Alcaraz's semi-final match at Queen's after their partnership was announced in June 'I will try to see how the court and balls will be and treat it as good preparation for me. I will try to be at my best after my trip to New York. 'Probably going to sleep late but I'll try to play my best tennis to help Emma get the win, let's see if we will get it. 'It will be fun and a great opportunity to play those matches.' Alcaraz will hope to follow in the footsteps of Swiatek, who is through to the semi-finals on Wednesday with Ruud following their defeat of hometown stars Frances Tiafoe and Madison Keys in the first round, and late pairing Lorenzo Musetti and Caty McNally in their quarter-final.
