Melaka student kills mother, brother in suspected revenge attack over exam pressure
The Star Online reported the Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar as saying, the teenager allegedly stabbed his 51-year-old mother multiple times while she was asleep in her bedroom around 5am.
The suspect's 21-year-old brother, who attempted to intervene, was also fatally attacked.
'Both victims died at the scene from their injuries,' Dzulkhairi reportedly told reporters at the Melaka police headquarters in Bukit Beruang today.
The suspect also allegedly assaulted his 13-year-old brother, who remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Melaka Hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed the teenager was unhappy with his mother — a teacher at a vernacular primary school — over constant pressure to excel in his studies and score high marks in examinations.
'He was reportedly told to study late into the night and was often reprimanded by his mother,' Dzulkhairi said, adding that neighbours had heard frequent arguments between the suspect and his family.
Police believe the suspect used a 20cm penknife in the attack, which they later found in his school bag.
When officers arrived, the teen was seen sitting calmly on the porch of the house.
Initially, he claimed the murders were the result of a robbery. However, police said CCTV footage and his eventual confession led to his arrest.
Investigations also revealed the suspect had planned the attack, having purchased the knife several days earlier.
'We consider the case solved, with revenge as the likely motive,' Dzulkhairi said.

Umno Youth chief to face court charge this Friday over Facebook post allegedly disturbing public order
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) said yesterday that it would charge Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh over a Facebook post on his account, along with two other individuals. In a statement, the AGC said the decision followed an examination of investigation papers submitted by the police. 'Based on the testimony and evidence obtained, this department has decided to bring charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code against Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, Muhammad Hilman Idham and Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin,' it said. 'The statements made by these individuals were found to have disturbed public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services.' The AGC said all charges will be filed at the Magistrates' Court with the relevant local jurisdiction soon. Section 505(b) handles those causing fear or alarm to the public, and to induce them to commit an offence against public order. If convicted, a person can be punished with a prison term up to two years, a fine, or both. Hilman is the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief, with his charge is believed to be over a video of him speaking at a July 29 protest in which he allegedly claimed the arrest of some Bersatu members was politically motivated. It is unsure which Facebook post is responsible for Dr Akmal's charge. Meanwhile, Chandrasegaran a/l Subramaniam will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988. Last week, Dr Akmal said he was called by the federal police to give his statement over the protest he led on the display of Jalur Gemilang in Kepala Batas, Penang. The AGC had previously warned Malaysians against vigilantism in cases involving the improper display of the Jalur Gemilang, amid furore over the Umno Youth protest. Dr Akmal has since posted on Facebook that he is abroad performing umrah, or the Muslim minor pilgrimage to Mecca, and will return early to face the charge at the Magistrate's Court in Bukit Mertajam this Friday.

PETALING JAYA : The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has decided to charge Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over statements he made on his Facebook page, 'Akmal Saleh', which were said to disrupt public order. In a statement, the AGC said it would proceed to charge Akmal under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for making statements conducing to public mischief. However, it did not specify the Facebook content in question. In a Facebook video, Akmal said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday, at 8am. He said he would cut short his trip to Mecca, after arriving there just yesterday, to face the charge against him. Last Friday, it was reported that police had launched a probe into a viral Facebook video featuring Akmal making statements that were considered to be 'hate speech' that could disturb public peace. However, in recent days, Akmal has posted videos concerning a Jalur Gemilang mishap at a Penang hardware store, where the national flag was hoisted upside down. In one of Akmal's videos, he said prosecutors had two days to charge the shop owner, failing which he said he would personally 'teach this 'Ah Pek' (uncle) how to correctly put up a flag'. The AGC also confirmed that Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham would be charged under the same section over remarks he made in a video posted on the TikTok account ' Earlier, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the wing's chief is expected to be charged at the magistrates' court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow over a speech he delivered during a gathering outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters last month. The AGC today said it had also decided to charge a woman named Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin under the same section as Akmal and Hilman, and S Chandrasegaran under the Communications and Multimedia Act for posting offensive content online. Saifuddin: Over 100,000 foreign construction workers untraceable after legalisation scheme
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — A total of 100,646 foreign workers holding Temporary Work Visit Passes (PLKS) in the construction sector failed to be detected after the foreign worker whitewashing programme implemented by the Construction Labour Exchange Centre Bhd (CLAB), according to the Home Minister. According to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the government will implement measures and punitive actions against employers and foreign workers in the construction sector who commit offences under existing regulations. 'They come in, they hold the construction sector PLKS, but when whitewashing is carried out by CLAB, we cannot find any impact. If they misuse the passes, we will take action according to the offence. 'If their passes have expired, they should have signed a check-out memo and left the country. If they do not leave the country, we will track them down,' he said. He said this at the press conference of the Joint Committee Meeting between the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim, on the Management of Foreign Workers today. According to Saifuddin, the matter was revealed following a presentation by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) during the meeting. 'We will see what Act they violated and punitive action will be taken,' he said. Previously, he was reported to have said that applications for foreign worker employment quotas are now only allowed on a case-by-case basis involving three main sectors and 10 selected sub-sectors.
