‘Zero class or civic sense': Reddit user details nightmare on Patalkot Express
A Reddit user's recent post detailing a 'horrible' trip on the Patalkot Express has gone viral, sparking a wave of discussion about public etiquette and civic sense in India. The user, travelling with his mother in an AC coach with confirmed reservations, recounted how their journey was disrupted by a large family who allegedly transformed the space into an impromptu wedding celebration.
The user described how a group of 25-30 people, including eight-nine children, were already occupying their seats when they boarded. While the family initially moved, what followed was a series of escalating disturbances. The user noted the family appeared 'legit rich,' adorned with 'gold chains flashing, branded everything,' but seemingly lacked basic civic sense.
The initial hour was bearable, but chaos soon erupted. The family began applying mehendi, while children ran around 'screaming like banshees.' The situation escalated further with an elaborate food spread, including cold drinks, various fruits, dhokla, cake, theplas, and ice cream, accompanied by loud calls and conversations.
Post-lunch, the disruptions intensified. The family reportedly pulled out a speaker and began a full-fledged game of tombola, with numbers being called out as if it were a 'wedding sangeet.' This prompted the user to lodge a complaint on Rail Madad. Although officials intervened at the next station and asked the group to quiet down, the family allegedly retaliated by becoming even louder, singing bhajans, playing cards, and taunting the user for complaining.
A frustrated user concluded, 'Educated, well-dressed, rich — but absolutely zero class or civic sense. Padhe likhe gawar in the truest sense.'
Earlier I used to defend Indians… but today I've lost all hope.

The post, which garnered 1.9 thousand upvotes on Reddit, has resonated with many users, prompting a flurry of reactions. One user commented, unfortunately, there are people who would still defend this behaviour. about a few months back there was a post in which indians were playing punjabi songs on a German bus, dancing and singing along while it was moving on the road. there were locals in the video who were quiet and didn't complain about it. people in the comment section couldn't realise how messed up and annoying that is , having to shove your culture down someone's else throat just because they aren't revolting against you. indians do have a civic sense and discipline problem.'
Another user sympathised with the user who posted, and said, 'Man I feel for you… But you are missing one crucial thing in this incident. This was one large family that didn't have manners and (since you mentioned the gold chains and them being rich) the fact that they still were travelling through an AC coach rather than taking a flight shows that money doesn't buy class. There sure are a lot of such people in our country, but compared to other normal passengers, their number is miniscule.Defending yourself being an Indian shouldn't stop because of such a bad experience. Never ever let anyone disrespect your ethnicity just cuz there are a few bad elements associated with it.'
A third user noted, 'You can sadly see a lot such padhe likhe gawaar abroad as well. I live in New York, and I am appalled by some desis' behaviour at times. Taking calls on loudspeaker, being loud in groups in public places (even when I went to Sky Lagoon in Iceland, a bunch of Indians were screaming and ruined everyone's day). Zero civic sense or empathy for anyone around them.'

A plane, en-route to London, crashed in a residential area in Ahmedabad five minutes after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Gujarat. The aircraft was carrying 242 people. Among the passengers were 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian citizen. Two pilots and ten crew members were also on board the flight. Two of the passengers, Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek, posted an Instagram story before boarding the doomed Air India flight. Now, their post has surfaced on social media. A video posted on Jamie's Instagram story shows an interaction between the duo where Fiongal says, 'We are at the airport, just boarding. Goodbye India,' as Jamie joins, 'Goodbye. It's a 10-hour flight back to England.' Following this, Fiongal asks Jamie about his 'biggest takeaway,' to which Jamie chuckles and says he doesn't know. After a few moments of conversation, Fiongal says, 'Going back happily, happily, happily calm,' and the video ends. In another video, captured a night before their return journey, Fiongal says, 'So it's our last night in India. We've had a magical experience today. Mindblowing things have happened. We are going to put this all together and create a vlog. I think this is my first ever vlog. We are going to make a vlog about the whole trip,' with Jamie sitting beside him. Moments later, Jamie joins in and says, 'There's been too much, hasn't there not to document and it would be so nice to remember this and share this with everybody because we really have been on quite a journey. Then spending the last night here in this amazing hotel and we've just had the most delicious food. It was the perfect way to round up the trip. So yeah, excited to share it all with you.' City Police Commissioner GS Malik told AFP, 'There appears to be no survivor in the crash,' adding, 'And since the airplane has fallen on an area which was residential and had some offices, there are more casualties as well.'

US billionaire Peter Kern acquires Italian lingerie label La Perla
Peter Kern, former chief executive of US travel technology company Expedia will be the new owner of troubled Italian luxury lingerie label La Perla, the Italian government announced recently. Kern submitted the best offer for the firm through his luxury holding, both in economic and employment terms, Italian Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso announced at the La Perla roundtable held at Palazzo Piacentini. Peter Kern, former CEO of US travel tech firm Expedia will be the new owner of troubled Italian luxury lingerie label La Perla. Kern submitted the best offer, both in economic and employment terms, Italian Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso announced recently. Kern committed to investing around $34.31 million by 2027, avoiding redundancies and reviving production, he said. Kern committed to investing around €30 million (~$34.31 million) by 2027, avoiding redundancies and reviving production at the brand's factory in Bologna, the minister said. Kern already owns Brunello di Montalcino vineyards in Tuscany. La Perla began operations in 1954 as a corset company in Bologna, and later expanded into lingerie, swimwear and nightwear. It was run by the family of its founder, Ada Masotti, until 2008 when it was sold to San Francisco-based buyout firm JH Partners, which already held a controlling stake. The company continued to struggle after it was snapped up by German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst in 2018 at another judicial auction. The turnaround plan presented by Kern, to be finalised over the coming weeks after talks with unions, should increase employment levels to around 250 from the 210 now, Urso said. The Italian government will this week approve furlough schemes to offer financial cover for La Perla's idled workers until the transaction is completed, the minister added.
