Thousands throng Mahankali temple as Sec'bad sways to Bonalu beats
The Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Danam Nagender, offered silk cloths to Ujjaini Mahankali Ammavaru on behalf of the government. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, BJP Telangana Chief N Ramchander Rao, BRS leaders Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Marri Rajashekhar Reddy and other political leaders offered prayers at Ujjaini Mahakali Devasthanam.
The women folks were seen carrying Bonam standing in queue lines right from the early hours on Sunday. The temple authorities provided six queue lines to control the crowd. The authorities provided separated queue lines for the Shiva Sattulu for early darshan. The shiva sathulu expressed satisfaction on the arrangements. The devotees from different parts of the city started coming to the temple in the afternoon. The main attraction of the jatara, the Potharajus along with the Phalaharam Bandis started coming in the evening. The fully decorated 'Thottelu' and Palaharam bandis were seen late in the night on Sunday. There were some 'child potharajus' who were dancing to the teenmar tunes of drums.
The police provided heavy bandobast with 2,500 personnel near the temple with task force and 'She Teams'. There were 'She Teams' police to ensure the safety of women.
A control room was set up by the Mahankali police to keep track of the happenings near the temple. The GHMC, water board also provided the arrangements like announcements, water packets and others.
People not only from Hyderabad city but also from neighbouring districts came in large numbers. While many had darshan happily, some of the devotees were upset with the authorities not accepting the passes. 'We had passes but the officials did not allow us inside. We had to wait for more than one and a half hour to get inside the temple,' said a devotee Nagraj while standing in the queue. A woman Megha Srinivas Chaudhary said that she had been coming here every year and the arrangements have been good. Another devotee Shirisha, who came from Turkyamjal said that she has been coming since her childhood. 'I like this festival and I come here every year. Now I am married but never miss the darshan of Ammavaru,' said Shirisha. The Lashkar Bonalu will culminate on Monday with rendering of Rangam and a big procession of Phalaharam bandis.

Congress to hit local body polls button realising ‘all positive' at the ground level
AD Even as the 42% Backward Classes reservations issue continues to be in a dilemma due to legal and political complications, the State government doesn't want to lose the 'positive' atmosphere on the ground to go ahead and conduct the local body elections. A decision on the dates of local body polls is likely to be taken between August 15 and 18, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is full of hope of capturing the local body seats. 'A clear picture will emerge by August 18,' a senior Minister told The Hindu. First, the elections to ZPTC and MPTC will be held on the party symbol, and they will be followed by the Sarpanch elections that are not held on party basis. 'But the counting for all these would be on the same day,' the Minister revealed. Three factors that are in favour of the government to proceed with the elections soon are the positive mood created at the village level — good rains, fine rice through the Public Distribution System (PDS), Indiramma Houses and distribution of new ration cards. Claims by Congress that BRS pushed State into debts proved wrong by Parliament: KTR
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said the Congress's claims that the BRS has pushed Telangana into a debt of ₹8 lakh crore is utterly false and misleading, and it was revealed in the Parliament by the Central government. Mr. Rama Rao in a statement, said the Central government itself admitted that the State's debt under the BRS government was not ₹8 lakh crore but only ₹3.5 lakh crore. 'The allegations made by Revanth Reddy and others regarding the BRS government's debt were proven to be blatant lies in Parliament today. Where would Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders now hide their faces,' he asked. Mr. Rama Rao clarified that when the BRS government left office on March 31, 2024, the State's debt was only ₹3,50,520.39 crore. He said the BRS government never took on unnecessary debt. Instead, the loans were used not just for welfare schemes but also for creating long-term assets for future generations. 'These funds were spent on projects like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Kaleshwaram Project and other infrastructure developments.
