The Terrys cover Black Sabbath's ‘Changes' for Like A Version
You might know it best as the theme song from Netflix's Big Mouth , but the track dates back to 1972, when Ozzy's black metal band veered left with a surprising ballad featuring neither drums or guitar.
After Ozzy died aged 76 this July, The Terrys knew they had to pay their respects with a Like A Version.
"It just felt like we had to do it, you know? Rest in peace," says vocalist Jacob Finch.
"We couldn't cover 'Iron Man' or something, because we're not that kind of band. So this was the one, this was always going to be the one."
"It's one of those tracks that gets you right in the heart."
As Jacob put it, the five-piece "Terrys-fied" the track, forgoing the original's orchestral strings (actually just a Mellotron, fyi) in favour of drums and three guitars, which slowly build from an acoustic start into a more full-bodied sound.
"We wanted to kind of strip it back to what the song is and then in the end section we changed it up to give it a bit more of a Terrys feel," says Jacob.
It marks the band's second time in the LAV studio, after taking on Ben Lee's 'Catch My Disease' back in 2022, complete with shout-outs to Skegss, the Beddy Rays and Alex the Astronaut in the bridge.
Drummer Cameron Cooper recalls being "really nervous" (we couldn't tell at all), but says they really locked in for this one and felt much more assured.
As for whether Ozzy would approve, Cameron jokes he "probably wouldn't like it", while Jacob reckons he'd approve.
"He'd be looking up from hell," he jokes. I reckon he'd be proud! I reckon he'd be stoked. I hope so."
While in the studio, the band also performed 'Snake Oil', a fan favourite the band recently dropped after including it as a surprise vinyl-only track on their recent self-titled third and triple j Feature album.
The five-piece are just about to hit the road, too, with a massive three-month tour across the country.

Quentin Tarantino explains why he pulled the plug on The Movie Critic
Quentin Tarantino "wasn't really that excited" about The Movie Critic. The 62-year-old director has long declared he will retire after making his 10th movie and after previously announcing what his last project would be, it was revealed last April he had had a change of heart, and he's now shared some insight into his decision. Speaking on The Church of Tarantino podcast, the Kill Bill filmmaker was "very happy" with what he had originally written as an eight-part series before turning it into a script for a feature film, but ultimately lost enthusiasm in pre-production. He said: 'No one's waiting for this thing per se. I mean, I can do it whenever I want. I mean, it's already written. So OK, let me just not start it right now. 'Let me try writing it as a movie and let me see if it's better that way. And I was like, 'Oh, OK, no, I think this is going to be the movie.' And then it wasn't. I pulled the plug on it. And the reason I pulled the plug, it's a little crazy.' Tarantino noted he "really,really likes" The Movie Critic but it had given him a "challenge". He said: "There was a challenge that I gave to myself when I did it. Can I take the most boring profession in the world and make it an interesting movie? 'Every Tarantino title promises so much, except The Movie Critic. 'Who wants to see a TV show about a f***ing movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called The Movie Critic? If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment... "'I was so excited about the writing, but I wasn't really that excited about dramatising what I wrote once we were in pre-production.' Tarantino dismissed reports that Brad Pitt would reprise his One Upon a Time... in Hollywood character Cliff Booth for The Movie Critic. He said: 'It's a spiritual sequel to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood in so far as they take place in the same world and they take place in the same town. But there were no crossover characters. Cliff Booth was never in The Movie Critic. That's all a bunch of bull****. That never was the case ever, ever, ever.' The director had set The Movie Critic in California in 1977 and it was 'based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.' While there were no plans for Brad to return as Cliff in the film, the actor will be portraying the stuntman again in Netflix's upcoming off-shoot The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which will be directed by David Fincher.

James McDonald edges out apprentice Siena Grima on Amusing in a two-horse slugfest at Rosehill
Emerging apprentice Siena Grima got a front-row seat as the world's best jockey James McDonald showed his experience to lift Amusing to a narrow win at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Grima ensured McDonald was forced to endure a few nervous moments after launching her challenge on Chris Waller-trained stablemate Travolta. The duo paired off in the straight to fight out a thrilling finish to the Rosehill Bowling Club Benchmark 78 Handicap (1900m). Travolta headed Amusing inside the furlong pole but McDonald's decision to switch whip hands proved key as his mare lifted late to score. 'I definitely put a bit of worry into him (McDonald),' Grima said. 'When he saw me staying up next to him, it was a massive effort from the horse, he ran super and Mr Waller was happy so that's all I can ask.' Grima had already had a week to remember with the Tamworth-based rider snaring her maiden Sydney city winner on the Waller-trained Tazima at Randwick Kensington on Wednesday. Waller was more than happy to put the young hoop back on another of his key chances and Grima made the most of her opportunity when locking horns with Sydney's nine-time premiership winning jockey. Amusing ($3.40 favourite) edged out Travolta ($4) by a long head with Stirling Osland's So You Are ($9.50) two lengths away in third. 'It was a good determined finish from both riders,' Waller said. 'They got close but kept at it. 'Siena rode her horse very well and saved all the ground but I just think it showed with fitness with James' horse Amusing. 'She is a tough horse and you could see she really wanted to win the race so I think she is on the right path to black type.' McDonald felt Amusing's victory had added merit after the mare had over-raced in the early stages. 'She pulled so hard the first 1000m so she's done a really good job,' he said. 'When I needed a bit more late, she dug deep and found it for me. She is a lovely mare.' Amusing gave Waller his first winner for Godolphin when the mare won at the same venue over 1500m at the first metropolitan meeting of the new season earlier this month. The classy daughter of Masar has now put together three straight victories with Waller now set to consider a stakes assignment. 'After her last win I was thinking about the Aspiration and the Epona in the autumn but after today do you look at a race like the Wyong Cup?' Waller said. 'While the other horses are still getting fit, she is rock hard fit. 'The 2100m will be no problem, we just have to get her to settle a little bit better.' It was McDonald's turn to be narrowly denied shortly after when the Bjorn Baker-trained War Eternal ($2.60 favourite) got the better of Birdman ($5.50) in the Captivant Kia Ora Handicap (1400m). An incisive ride from Jason Collett helped War Eternal slice his way through the pack with his race fitness proving crucial late as he held off the challenge of Waller's Birdman while Land Legend produced a flashing light run to scorch home from the back for third. 'He deserved that,' Baker's racing manager Luke Hilton said. 'He has been racing really well this preparation and is a good old campaigner. 'Last prep he won third-up and he's done the same this prep with Jason Collett on.' War Eternal's latest success could encourage the Baker yard to give the talented son of Pierro another crack at stakes grade as the spring carnival prepares to heat up. 'He is a seven-year-old so he is probably at the top of his game at the moment but there might be not as strong of a Listed or stakes race that we can find for him,' Hilton said.
