Roosevelt Elementary School principal arrested after teen house party: What we know
Cocoa Beach police have arrested Roosevelt Elementary School principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, 47, and teacher Karly Anderson, 45, on child neglect charges after a recent house party with more than 100 teens in attendance ended with one teenager needing medical care.
Officers responded to Hill-Brodigan's home on Jan. 19 after the massive party was reported, finding a teenager having an alcohol-related medical episode on the front lawn, according to an arrest report.
Officers also reported that many of the teens, who were wearing matching T-shirts, were consuming alcohol later learned to be available in coolers at the residence.

Here's what we know about the party, and the Brevard Public Schools employees involved.
The party was reported at the Cocoa Beach home of Roosevelt Elementary School principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan. Officers discovered that alcohol was supplied in coolers at the residence to teenagers who attended the party.
Officers responding to the reported house party found a teenager having an alcohol-related medical episode on the front lawn, according to an arrest report.
Brevard County Fire Rescue personnel were required to use their vehicle's auxiliary lights to render care to the teenager when Hill-Brodigan turned off all outside lights upon their arrival, according to the report. A juvenile was also arrested on a suspected DUI after a nearby traffic stop.
Police identified one intoxicated woman at the scene as Roosevelt Elementary teacher Karly Anderson.
Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan has served in various roles at Brevard Public Schools, including teaching multiple grades at Freedom 7 Elementary in Cocoa Beach as well as serving as assistant principal at Oak Park Elementary in Titusville and Ocean Breeze Elementary in Indian Harbour Beach. She has also been awarded Teacher of the Year honors.
Anderson has taught at Brevard Public Schools since 2006, according to her LinkedIn professional history.
After interviewing teenagers and parents, officers arrested Anderson and Hill-Brodigan on charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A spokesperson for Brevard Public Schools did not return a request for comment as of 4:45 p.m. Friday.
Hill-Brodigan was released on bail for $3,500 on Saturday morning. Anderson was released on a $3,000 bail, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office website.

Kilmar Ábrego García returned from El Salvador to face criminal charges in US
Kilmar Ábrego García, the man whom the Donald Trump administration mistakenly deported from Maryland to El Salvador in March, returned to the US on Friday to face criminal charges. In a press briefing on Friday, the US attorney general, Pam Bondi, said that a federal grand jury in Tennessee had indicted Ábrego García on counts of illegally smuggling undocumented people as well as of conspiracy to commit that crime. 'Our government presented El Salvador with an arrest warrant and they agreed to return him to our country,' Bondi said of Ábrego García. She thanked the Salvadorian president, Nayib Bukele, 'for agreeing to return him to our country to face these very serious charges'. 'This is what American justice looks like upon completion of his sentence,' Bondi added. Ábrego García – a 29-year-old Salvadorian whose wife and young child in Maryland are US citizens – appeared in federal court in Nashville on Friday evening. His arraignment was set for 13 June, when he will enter a plea, according to local media reports. Until then, he will remain in federal custody. In a statement to the Hill on Friday, Ábrego García's lawyer Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg accused the Trump administration of having 'disappeared' his client 'to a foreign prison in violation of a court order'. 'Now, after months of delay and secrecy, they're bringing him back, not to correct their error but to prosecute him,' he added. Sandoval-Moshenberg also said: 'This shows that they were playing games with the court all along. Due process means the chance to defend yourself before you're punished – not after.' Sandoval-Moshenberg said the White House's treatment of his client was 'an abuse of power, not justice'. He called on Ábrego García to face the same immigration judge who had previously granted him a federal protection order against deportation to El Salvador 'to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent' there. Bondi on Friday maintained that federal grand jurors found that Ábrego García 'has played a significant role' in an abusive smuggling ring that had operated for nearly a decade. Officials on Friday portrayed the indictment of Ábrego García by a grand jury in Tennessee as vindication of their approach to immigration enforcement. 'The man has a horrible past and I could see a decision being made, bring him back, show everybody how horrible this guy is,' Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding that it had been the justice department that decided to bring Ábrego García back. Ábrego García entered the US without permission around 2011 while fleeing gang violence in El Salvador. Despite the judicial order meant to prevent his deportation to El Salvador, on 15 March, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officials deported him to El Salvador after arresting him in Maryland. He was held in the so-called Center for Terrorism Confinement, a controversial mega-prison better known as Cecot. The Trump administration subsequently admitted that Ábrego García's deportation was an 'administrative error'. But it has repeatedly cast him as a MS-13 gang member on television – a claim which his wife, a US citizen, and his attorneys staunchly reject. Ábrego García also had no criminal record in the US before the indictment announced on Friday, according to court documents. On 4 April, federal judge Paula Xinis ordered the Trump administration to 'facilitate and effectuate' Ábrego García's return from El Salvador after his family filed a lawsuit in response to his deportation. The supreme court unanimously upheld Xinis's order a week later. In an unsigned decision, the court said that Xinis's decision 'properly requires the government to 'facilitate' Ábrego García's release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador'. A Friday statement from the US senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said the Trump administration had 'finally relented' to his demand to afford Ábrego due process. 'This is not about the man,' said Van Hollen, who visited Ábrego García in El Salvador in April. 'It's about his constitutional rights – and the rights of all.' The inexperienced 22-year-old reportedly tasked by Donald Trump with tackling U.S. extremism was working as a neighborhood gardener just five years ago and in a grocery store as recently as August 2023, the Daily Beast can reveal. Thomas Fugate, who graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio just 12 months ago, is currently heading up the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships at the DHS, as first reported by ProPublica Tuesday. The center, also known as CP3, plays a vital role supporting nationwide efforts to combat terrorism and hate-fueled violence. But according to the youngster's LinkedIn page, Fugate has almost no experience in this field—and in 2020 was working as a self-employed 'Landscape Business Owner.' There isn't much else on his resumé to suggest Fugate has the requisite skills to weed out terrorists. Prior to his work as a gardener—while studying for a degree in politics and law—Fugate worked at an H-E-B supermarket in Austin, Texas, as a 'Cross Functional Team Member.' According to his LinkedIn, he would 'perform various activities around every department of the store, fulfilling key duties contributing to store operations.' Since leaving college, Fugate has had a meteoric rise in the political world, having served as an 'advance team member' on President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, according to his LinkedIn page. An avowed Republican, he also interned at the Heritage Foundation, the think tank behind Project 2025, and for Texas Representatives Terry Wilson and Steve Allison. Fugate was reportedly hired as a 'special assistant' in an immigration office at the DHS in February, according to ProPublica. He then took over CP3 after its previous director quit. Fugate did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast's request for comment. 'Tom Fugate has performed well in his current role as a Confidential Assistant in our Immigration & Border Security suboffice,' a senior DHS official told The Daily Beast. 'Due to his success, he has been temporarily given additional leadership responsibilities in the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships office (CP3). This is a credit to his work ethic and success on the job.' Fugate set up a political Instagram account last year, where his profile contains the motto, 'Men used to do great things. I believe they still can.' He has posted a number of photos from the campaign trail and his time in Washington, D.C. He also posted a video that showed him with a host of lesser lights in the Republican party, including the disgraced former congressman Madison Cawthorn, Kennedy Center President Ric Grenell, and MAGA personality Riley Gaines. He is also pictured with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. An older account in the name of Trey Fugate on X suggests that he was a fan of LEGO and Star Wars. He used the social media account to call on Texas politicians 'to protect the international affairs budget!' and 'Help the global poor, save lives.' That was just two years before he launched his new MAGA personality with the thomas4texas Instagram account, saying: 'Legend has it that Thomas Fugate didn't start the fire 🔥, but that is always been burning since the world's been turning 🤔. Welcome all to my new account for public service, community involvement, and politics 🇺🇸. Recently things have got to the point where I felt like my main account has become too focused on politics, so I wanted to switch things up!' The plethora of selfies and portraits plastered across his social media accounts suggest that the wryly arched eyebrow Fugate chose for his LinkedIn profile—a photograph taken in front of the seal of the Department of Homeland Security—was very much a knowing choice from a young man who seems to think he is destined for the top.
