Jesy Nelson's turbulent pregnancy from worrying symptoms to emergency surgery
Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has welcomed her twin daughters with partner Zion Foster, but it hasn't been an easy pregnancy with numerous challenges along the way to meeting their 'beautiful baby girls'
Jesy Nelson has welcomed her 'healthy' twin baby girls with her partner Zion Foster, after spending the last 10 weeks in hospital ahead of their arrival. The proud parents, who have named their daughters Ocean and Story, have been on quite the journey to bringing their twins into the world, with Jesy's pregnancy filled with worrying scans and a rare condition.
The former Little Mix star, 33, took to Instagram on Sunday, 18 May, to confirm she had given birth to her twin daughters earlier this week. In the post, the proud parents could be seen sweetly holding each of their daughters, who were born two months early.
In the caption, Jesy wrote: "So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We've never felt more in love. Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster. Born on 15.05.2025."
As Jesy and Zion, 26, settle into parenthood, we've taken a look back at the singer's turbulent and emotional pregnancy journey, which she documented every step of the way...

Pregnancy news
Jesy announced her pregnancy on January 12 and confirmed they were expecting twins in an Instagram post. The post included a photo of herself and Zion, with him cradling her baby bump while standing behind her.
Alongside the photo, Jesy teased: "She's eating for 3 now." They were met with an outpouring of well wishes on the platform, and Jesy also told fans that in the early stages of her pregnancy, she was constantly vomiting.
Rare condition
On March 5, Jesy shared that she was at risk of losing one or both of her babies as she was pregnant with Mono/Di twins, short for Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA). This meant that while most twins have two placentas to feed off, her twins only had one, but were in their own amniotic sac.
This rare condition "can lead to lots of complications", and Jesy also confirmed that she was pre-stage twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). According to the Twins Trust, TTTS is a "rare but life-threatening condition that affects 10 to 15 per cent of identical twins that share a placenta," and it "can have serious consequences".
The expectant mum shared: "So we are having identical twins, which is so exciting, we're just like, we actually can't believe it. But unfortunately, there are complications that come with having identical having identical twins.
"The type of twins we are having are called Mono/Di twins, and with that, so normally, most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of. But when you have Mono/Di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta, which can lead to lots of complications.
"One of them being one baby might take all the nutrients, the other might, which is really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying and at the moment, I am currently pre stage TTTS, which is twin to twin transfusion, and I'm being monitored very closely."
'Best chance of surviving'
A few days later, on March 8, Jesy and Zion took to Instagram to share an update and revaled that they were at hospital waiting for a procedure to give their unborn children "the best chance of surviving".
In the video, an emotional Jesy explained: "So, we are just giving you an update on our situation. So I've been feeling a bit poorly like the past few days. Been having a few of the symptoms that I need to watch out for - which is like my belly tightening, struggle breathing. So today we came into the hospital to just have a check-up basically. Just in case. And unfortunately the symptoms have got worse so we now have to have ... they have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen."
"But it's necessary because it's gonna give our babies like the best chance of surviving. So yeah, we're just waiting to go in. And we're just hoping and praying for the best really. I feel gutted. I feel absolutely gutted because I really was hoping that we wouldn't even be in this position."
Jesy then burst into tears as her partner Zion was seen reassuring her, before saying: "They're doing it to give us the best chance. Our babies the best chance." Jesy added: "Yeah, like that's why they do this procedure. So that it literally gives you the best chance of your baby surviving but it's obviously just really scary cause there's so many things that can happen."
Emergency surgery
In an update on Mother's Day (30 March), Jesy told fans that she had some "amazing news" after the procedure was a success. She explained that they were still in hospital as she recovered, before confirming: "The TTTS has cleared up, the operation was a success which is just absolutely incredible. We are so, so, lucky to have the most amazing doctors. Basically, the situation that we're in now is my cervix is very, very, short, so I can't leave the hospital because my waters could break at any point and I'm still very, very, early."
She added: "So yeah, I can't leave the hospital until I'm a certain amount of weeks. Every week we're praying that the babies stay in my belly but yeah, we are just so grateful that they are still here and they're still growing strong and we're just so grateful."
Hospitalised for 10 weeks
The former Little Mix star remained hospitalised for 10 weeks due to her high-risk pregnancy, but thankfully, since the operation, her pregnancy remained positive. Despite being in hospital, she continued to share updates with fans and even asked for advice on what colour to dye her hair and revealed details of a little pamper session she had while waiting for her twins to arrive.
Despite the difficulty in staying in hospital for such a lengthy period of time, Zion sweetly said that it had brought him and Jesy closer together. "The same four walls are driving us a bit crazy," he admitted at the time.
"We've literally grown to understand each other on a deeper level. And I think we really understand how much we actually care about each other.
"I think it's at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means. And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other."
'They're so brave'
On May 4, Jesy shared a series of black and white photos cradling her bump, holding new scans of her twins and lovingly lying on the bed with Zion. She captioned the post: "Muma Nelson and Papa Foster", adding a heart emoji.
Speaking in the only interview during her pregnancy, Zion had said of the twins: "They're giving us so much hope they're going to come out healthy. Jesy and the twins have come through so much. There were so many times in this pregnancy we didn't think we'd get to where we are now.
"Their strength has been unmatched. We literally feel like we know them already just because of how much they've overcome. Their characters are so strong. They're so brave."

Alison wore a huge fake belly under a figure hugging dress as she showcased her moves to Starrkeisha's viral song Baby Mama. The broadcaster, who is already mum to son Aidan, 20, whom she shares with ex-husband, captioned the post: "Lots of AI stories online about me being pregnant. "I can confirm I am not having a baby as I'm not sure my 50 year old womb could take it . "However I do think we should all dance like Meghan!!" Of course, it wasn't long before Alison's followers rushed to post in the comments. One said: "Just another reason to love Alison." Another added: "I love this so much! And double yes to Meghan!." "Such a Queen," said another. While one fan gushed: "YOU ARE AMAZING ALISON X." Alison Hammond shows off 11 stone weight loss in leggings as she hits the gym for gruelling workout Meghan, 43, released the 89-second clip of her and Prince Harry to her three million followers on Instagram after earlier posting unseen photos of her daughter. It showed the heavily pregnant Meghan making rowing movements and shimmying her shoulders beside the hospital bed. Prince Harry also shuffles into view in a hoodie to the strains of then-viral pregnancy hit The Baby Momma Dance. But the clip sparked bizarre claims from conspiracy theorists, who questioned whether the baby bump was real. The wild online speculation cruelly suggested that Meghan wasn't pregnant at all and was in fact wearing a prosthetic pregnant belly or "moonbump". Some went even further with groundless claims that the video was faked, made on a film set or even generated by AI. Meanwhile, Alison who is already on nearly every channel, making programmes about baking, travel, dogs and hobnobbing with celebrities - has bagged yet another show. The TV celebrity will this summer front new Channel 4 project Your Song. In the series she will tour Britain giving ordinary members of the public the chance to perform a track which has special meaning to them. BREAKING NEWS Love Island USA cast member breaks silence after being kicked off show due to past racist slurs
Axed Love Island USA contestant Yulissa Escobar has broken her silence after being removed from the show over her past use of racist slurs. Escobar, 27, was released from the reality TV show off camera during only the second episode, before the rest of the contestants woke up for the day. Clips of Escobar using the N-word while discussing ex-boyfriends surfaced on Reddit and fans were irate, commenting on her Instagram that they would vote her off at the first opportunity. Now Escobar has taken to Instagram to apologize for using the slurs in a post captioned: 'Owning my mistakes, speaking my truth.' She wrote: 'First, I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using. 'Podcast clips from years ago have recently resurfaced, and I want to address it directly. 'In those clips, I used a word I never should've used, a racial slur. I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it. I wasn't trying to be offensive or harmful, but I recognize now that intention doesn't excuse impact. And the impact of that word is real. It's tied to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use. 'At the time, I was speaking casually in conversation, not thinking deeply or critically about what I was saying. But that doesn't take away from how wrong it was. The truth is, I didn't know better then, but I do now. I've taken the time to reflect, to learn, and to grow from that moment. 'I've changed a lot since then, not just in how I speak, but in how I show up, how I carry myself, and how I honor the experiences of others. Growth means recognizing when you were wrong, even if it's uncomfortable, and choosing to move forward with humility and accountability. 'There have also been fake statements circulating, things written or said by others that don't reflect me or my heart. I want to clarify that this is my voice and my words. I don't need anyone to speak for me. I'm choosing to speak for myself because I take full ownership of my actions. Do not listen to the fake statements. This is my official statement. This is me, speaking directly to you. 'To those who are disappointed or offended, I understand and I apologize. 'I am sorry. As the islanders were waking up, the narrator of the show Iain Stirling announced: 'Yulissa has left the villa.' Yulissa was paired up with Ace Greene who is now single following her exit. One comment on the Reddit thread pointed out: 'How [the f***] did producers let this slide? They for SURE saw this.' Another user replied: 'Yeah, if people on this sub can find this in a few days, casting should have DEFINITELY found this. So either they're not looking into people enough or they're choosing to let this stuff slide. Not sure which is worse.' The remaining season seven Islanders include: Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, Olandria Carthen, Greene, and Taylor Williams. The comments on Yulissa's Instagram will be a surprise to her when she gets back from Fiji. ''yulissa has left the villa' LMFAOOOO,' one fan wrote, while another expressed,' WE WON SHES GONE!' The strong reaction continued in that theme, with someone else saying: 'Love Island stood on business and I love that.' Just a day before her exit, the budding reality star had been happily promoting the show on her Instagram. In one post, she wrote, 'It's my unapologetic year! And I'm choosing me, every time. Loud, soft, sweet, savage—whatever I feel like being.' In other Love Island-related posts, Yulissa shilled for votes to stay in the Villa. 'Say hello to your newest official islander on Love Island USA Season 7. Straight from Miami and headed to the villa! She's all about kindness, connection, and staying true to who she is,' one post was captioned 'We can't wait for you to get to know her heart, her humor, and everything in between. Make sure you download love island app to vote for Yulissa!' 'Can she see these comments?? Or not yet cause she in the island? Honestly IDC but how hilarious when she comes out thinking she got all these fans but she's getting cancelled,' one person commented on that post. Yulissa isn't the only Love Island USA contestant to face controversy. Season 7 contestant Austin Shepard has faced controversy for liking TikTok content supporting Donald Trump. Unlike Yulissa, Austin has remained in the villa. The remaining female contestants in the villa include Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, and Olandria Carthen. The guys vying for love are Ace Greene, Taylor Williams, Nicolas Vansteenberghe and Jeremiah Brown. The show also introduced two early bombshells: Cierra Ortega and Charlie Georgiou. Bombshells are a new Islander who enters the villa with the intention of potentially disrupting existing relationships and forming new ones. "Islanders will couple up to face brand new heart-racing challenges and bigger twists and turns than ever before,' the show's logline reads. The contestants are also vying for a $100,000 prized. On Love Island USA, a spinoff of Love Island UK, singles live together in a villa for about two months and couple up with the islander they are most attracted to.
