Help from Martin in EastEnders ‘secures the future of The Vic' in final twist

Metro18-07-2025
Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance policy turns heads in EastEnders next week – when it could be used to secure The Queen Vic.
As viewers of the BBC soap have seen this week, the Slater clan decided to play a practical joke on Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), when he announced his decision to buy the famed boozer.
Pretending she'd won £100k on a scratchcard, Stacey (Lacey Turner) took great joy in seeing him squirm.
Unfortunately, the prospect of having that amount of cash in her pocket seemed out of the question. That was, until, a man from an insurance company arrived to tell her that her ex-husband Martin had left the same amount of money in his policy.
It's been five months since the fruit and veg salesman was crushed under the rubble following an explosion at the pub, and nobody had a clue of the money he'd been squiraling to one side for years.
As Stacey announced her intentions for how to distribute the cash between Martin's family, she also told cousin Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) that she would like to make an investment opportunity in The Vic.
She would have no say in the operational side of things – as old landlady Kat could step in and take over.
In upcoming scenes, Kat's relishing in the idea of getting her hands on The Vic again, but Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) and Ian waste no time in raining on her parade, not happy with her decision to use Martin's cash.
Meanwhile, Jean's minding Stacey's Baps when Alfie reaches out. He leaves a message, but she fails to mention it. More Trending
Later, The Slaters arrive only to find the Beales also sniffing around the sale, when Jean finally remembers to pass on Alfie's message to Stacey.
Kat returns home, beaming after a positive call from the bank – but things soon turn sour when Stacey drops a bombshell: she can't lend Kat the money after all.
Stacey confides in Jean about the situation, with mum's words of wisdom soon getting her to rethink.

In a race against time, Jean, Freddie and Mo charge to stall the auction following Stacey's change of heart and decides to back Kat after all. Meanwhile, the bidding war kicks off properly, with the Beales going head-to-head with a developer.

EastEnders reveals who stole Kat's phone as Zoe's imminent return 'sealed'

EastEnders latest episode saw Kat Moon's phone stolen by a masked thief before she could listen to Alfie's voicemail message, and now Zoe Slater's return could be very soon There was a twist involving one of the Mitchells on EastEnders on Monday night. ‌ Kat Moon was just about to listen to her husband Alfie Moon's voicemail message, which she didn't know revealed all about the recent return of her daughter Zoe Slater, when she was mugged. A masked man on a bike sped past and grabbed the phone out of her hand. ‌ Later in the episode we learned the thief was none other than Harry Mitchell. He was shown playing around with a phone before chucking it in a bag in frustration. ‌ As he did this, the camera panned to the inside of the bag, with multiple phones shown. One of them had Kat and her young twin sons as a wallpaper, showing that it was Kat's mobile and Harry was the thief on the bike. But will he return the phone, and will Kat ever hear the voicemail? In the message, Alfie had wrongly believed Kat knew he was off finding Zoe after her abrupt return weeks ago. ‌ Zoe refused to see Kat and fled abroad, with Alfie soon heading off to try and bring her home. He was forced to tell Stacey Slater he'd lost her last week, after a trail ran cold following Stacey giving her money to Kat for the pub, instead of giving it to Alfie to pay off some men in the hope of locating Zoe. Both Stacey and Alfie have kept it all from Kat and instead, Stacey allowed Kat to think Alfie was helping her cousin Hayley and Alfie's daughter Cherry. So Alfie faced a race against time to get the phone and delete the voicemail to stop Kat learning the truth. But instead, Harry stole the phone which means the message will remain on there unless it deletes after a certain amount of time. So whether Harry returns the phone or she gets it back somehow all remains to be seen. ‌ Surely the message is a ticking time-bomb, as is the truth about Zoe. Will this phone theft and the message somehow trigger Zoe's comeback? After all, we know Zoe is returning to Walford very soon. Michelle Ryan, the actress who plays Zoe, has already begun filming summer scenes. With it very nearly August and her filming for weeks, it's safe to assume Zoe will be back in Albert Square, for the first time in two decades, very, very soon. ‌ Within a few weeks it's thought she will be back on the show, given the gap between filming and transmission. So something has to happen relatively soon that will trigger Zoe's Walford comeback - but will it be linked to Harry and the phone theft? Might he answer a call or listen to the message and realise the importance of Kat getting her phone back? Might Zoe make contact? Viewers will just have to tune in and see what happens next. Kat issues Alfie a serious warning in EastEnders amid yet another Zoe twist

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) has returned to EastEnders – and has received a firm warning from wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) concerning the multitude of lies he's told her. As viewers of the BBC One soap know, he's spent the last few weeks searching for his estranged step-daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who fled London for Barcelona after telling him that she'd done something 'so bad' that her family would disown her. Zoe and Kat haven't seen one another in years, and she was adamant that her mother play no part in her life. As a result, Alfie had to think quickly for an excuse to leave. He first told his family that his brother Spencer (Christopher Parker) – who lives in Australia – was in turmoil, so had to rush off to be by his side. Of course, it didn't take long for the truth to out and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was forced to say Alfie had suffered a cancer scare, and was in Spain trying to clear his head. Stace's mum Jean (Gillian Wright) then began asking questions about what was going on, and yet another lie was created – that Alfie needed money to track down his own daughter Cherry, after her mum Hayley (Katie Jarvis) ended up in a bad way. Kat got wind of what was being discussed, and saw red. She couldn't wait for Alfie to return so that she could confront him. Back in Spain, Alfie thought that Kat knew about Zoe. While drunk, he poured his heart out and told her everything about what was going on in a voicemail message. Arriving back in tonight's episode, he feared the worst. He was firstly surprised to learn that he was now landlord of The Queen Vic, with Kat making the purchase in his absence. She put on a façade, making it seem like she was thrilled to have him home. But as he relished in the glory of getting away with his many, many fibs, Kat slung a bouquet of flowers around his head and drenched him in champagne. Upstairs, Alfie assumed she'd listened to the voicemail. However, as their conversation progressed, it became clear that she still believed that he was trying to find Hayley and Cherry. Kat – having calmed down – said that it would be wrong for her to dismiss his concerns about his daughter, and that if she ever found herself in that situation with Zoe she knew he'd feel similar. But there was one condition. The lies stopped immediately. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? The latest gossip from Emmerdale? More Trending But there was one big issue. She still hadn't listened to the voicemail from the night before, and despite Alfie's attempts to delete it, it was still there. She headed out into Bridge Street for some privacy, with Stacey rushing after with an excuse to bring her back in. However, just as Kat pressed play on the incriminating voice note, she was mugged by a lad on an e-scooter. Later, it transpired that this person was drug dealer Okie (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu), who then dropped the device off at Harry Mitchell's (Elijah Holloway) flat.
